I went this past weekend am still thinking about it. It is a total experience, the best sound ever and the optical illusions play with your equilibrium sometimes, in a good way. The performance was heartfelt, and professional, the band members are masters of their art. so much to take in, love to see it again.

Very good review. So nice to have someone appreciate the subtlety of Love is Blindness.

    Thanks for the video.
2:10 The intro projection is the replica of the Pantehon in Rome. The they switch into Church of the Light in Osaka.

Pretty spot on with the review, but not sure why you missed stressing the sound. It was extraordinary. Clear, crisp, clean, deep. strong. As astounding the sights, the sound matches it.

Great review - I just saw the show last week and found it a transformative experience. So much more than a concert. I'll carry it with me for a long time.

I saw U2 at The Sphere September 30th, and it was the 20th time I've seen them live, since 1986.
This was quite the experience, and was a perfect venue to showcase Achtung Baby. Themes of media saturation and over stimulation was part of the Zoo TV tour, and it was great to see all that in a new way.
U2 has been interested in using technology in different ways since Achtung Baby. The Popmart tour, the 360 Tour, the Joshua Tree anniversary tour, the Innocence and Experience tours...are examples.

Achtung Baby was the first album I bought that was actually great music, and my first CD too. I'm just a mild U2 fan overall but that album is amazing, it rips from start to finish.

Is it good thing nobody talks about Bram van den Berg? He must be doing an awesome job!!

this is as transformative to live shows as ZOO TV tour was 30 years ago, and in that sense, it's the perfect tech show for a most perfect album

This is a video I didn't expect to see! Glad you liked the show - as a huge U2 fan myself I so wanted to go, but being in Europe makes it so much more expensive. At some point I was thinking of cancelling all my other vacations and shows I had planned for 2023 just to see one U2 show at the sphere. Maybe in another lifetime...

I have no words to explain what happen. I was at the pit, and When "Even Better than the real thing" was played. the scrolling images made an optical illusion and it felt like the stage was moving or felt like the floor was moving. Crazy.

Best ending to a review of anything, ever.

Great review. Saw them last month and it was mind-blowing. My buddy and I kept laughing at how freaking awesome it was. It was 110% like nothing I've ever seen. Would love to go back and see another show. I will be back for a work trip in March and will see the Postcard from Earth movie. The Sphere is 100% Vegas! The "$shit$how leaving" was spot on! The F1 race was a week away and that didn't help either. Drink prices was laughable too, but no one forced us to have a drink and it is Vegas!

I will definitely check it out next time I get to Vegas. Favorite part of the video was your last observation, "...then the Sphere is going to give you a front row seat." I got a good chuckle.

"U2 is one of the greatest bands of all time" + "I love Achtung Baby" = I knew I've been following along your internet journey for a good reason. ;)

I attended this past week. Tagged along with my wife who is a big fan and bought the tickets. A couple of weeks before the concert I mentioned I was going to a friend and they responded, "I could never go to that - I'm claustrophobic and scared of heights". That put me in a panic because I do get motion sick, am afraid of heights, AND am claustrophobic. But we were flying from the east coast and there for 5 days so there was no turning back : ) We sat in section 303. The first 30 minutes, when the DJ is playing (kind of lame we thought but maybe in GA it's better) they show that tiled display with a hole at the top as shown in your review. That part was tough for me because it looks like it's closer than it is, so a bit claustrophobic. Sounds crazy but it did : ) So then the band is about to start and I'm....worried. But it turned out to be the best concert ever! The first few songs there is a lot going on on screen, and around the 4th song (not sure which one exactly) they put on an effect during all/most of the song where you feel like you're falling. Everyone I think felt this because I was looking away/to the side at the audience or down the entire time and others around me were feeling it too. But that only lasts a couple of minutes. I'd say ~80% of the show is fairly subdued effects/visuals, with a lot of black and close-ups of the individual musicians which is really cool. I'm not the biggest U2 fan but it was really an amazing experience and highly recommend.

I'll be walking from mid-strip and I'm still trying to find the least crowded route/entrance. Thinking of walking to the High Roller and walking from there. Venetian inddor route seems lie a crowded nightmare.

Before the concert even starts, the interior looks like Pantheon in Rome. I think I saw occasional birds flying at the top, near the fake opening. The songs are not all from the Achtung Baby album, which is absolutely fine by me.

One of the subtle moments I appreciated was the usage of shadow during So Cruel.
I wonder if that inspired the CG Bono shadow or was it the other way round.

I wonder if there have been any documented cases of seizures from too much stimulation or bad trips from this U2 Sphere show.

Ticket prices are atrocious! Also, it's actually just U1.5, as the original drummer (Larry Mullen Jr) doesn't play but has a fill-in drummer instead. Sure would be nice if they banned cellphones and cameras.
