Fantastic song. Was being sung in my local recently, and practically everyone over 40 joined in. First heard Marianne Faithfull sing it in the late 70s, probably the definitive version. Written by Shel Silverstein, who also wrote The Ballad of Lucy Jordan (Marianne again), A Boy Named Sue (Johnny Cash) and Sylvia's Mother (Dr Hook) among others
