    Lyrics:
I hope that I won't be that lone anymore
    Maybe I've learned this time.
I hope that I find what I'm reaching for,
The way that is easin' my mind.
Some day I'll get over you,
I'll live to see it all through,
    But I'll always miss
    Dreamin' my dreams
    With you.
But I won't let it change me, not if I can,
    I'd rather believe in love.
I'll give it away as much as I can
To those that I'm fondest of.
Some day I'll get over you,
I'll live to see it all through,
    But I'll always miss
    Dreamin' my dreams
    With you.
La, la la, la la la, la la,
La la, la la, la la.
La la la la, la la la la la,
La la, la la, la la.
Some day I'll get over you,
I'll live to see it all through,
    But I'll always miss
    Dreamin' my dreams
    With you.
    But I'll always miss
    Dreamin' my dreams
    With you

This song was the turning point in Marianne's career. Beautifully sung (perhaps the finest version of this song), it was an unexpected hit in Ireland and people realized that Marianne had much to offer. This led to a series of terrific albums including BROKEN ENGLISH, STRANGE WEATHER, and GIVE MY LOVE TO LONDON, as well as her excellent interpretations of the music of Kurt Weill. When you watch this video, you are watching her rebirth and the start of her journey as she established herself as the Grande Dame of rock and roll.

Great minds think alike- I loathe revealing my age but put it like this- I've been a fan of Marianne's since I was 12- I feel as though I know her, wish I had that privilege- I doubt many music fans would agree with you and I though, this being the "definitive" version of this tender song! Like my other most loved performer, Leonard Cohen, much nasty commentary has gone down regards their singing, their voices! Marianne had an exquisite contralto soprano? voice- I refer to her very early folk music and the "pop" which to me, has SOUL, not sugar. I absolutely adore this lady and admire her for not chucking in the proverbial towel. With Broken English- still a mesmerizing album, her "real" self, rage and all was released. I was shocked when I first heard it- a clerk in my fav record shop- funny, I still dream about that small, mostly used records, located above a Chinese restaurant or a variety store in this pitiful city's pitiful downtown- I was always spending hours ferreting out old Faithfull albums- on my side of the Atlantic, Canada, years had gone by with not a sound nor an article- I was upset but time in "Faithfull" terms, isn't the same- I had all her albums and played them every day- one afternoon I went up to Star Records- and wasn't intending to buy- at university and skint, broke as usual when the clerk called to me, " aren't you the Marianne Faithfull "nut/fan" - yes I said excitedly dropping Emerson, Lake and Palmer? Yes! Yes! What did you find- I was, STILL AM after an E.P. English folk songs and some pop, sung in French- several tracks I still don't own- copies came up on Discogs but for over 100.00cdn, too much on my fixed income- Marianne and I share many of the same problems- when he dropped the needle on Broken English I froze- every hair on my body- that sort of jazz- that's not Marianne I said getting heated- it is he says and hands me the cover. The rest as they say, is history. A brilliant album, the genius of the late, Heathcote Williams, Why D'Ya Do It, and Shel Silverstein's, written for her? The Ballad of Lucy Jordan- that became my torch song- I too was full of rage and grief and guilt - like Marianne I had no reason really to feel guilty as I was the victim- I'm not staging a pity party as my late, vicious, waste of space- "father" put it- every day of my life he called me homely, stupid, lazy, nuts, worthless- you get it- the first picture I saw of Marianne age 16? I wanted to just "melt" into her, become her- my "gee I wish I looked like-" was Jean Shrimpton the iconic model but when I saw Marianne- and heard her voice and she had, MICK JAGGER and a wit and intellect and had grown up in a castle, surrounded by "jazzers" all manner of genuine bohemians- I went out and bought a bottle of her scent- back then it was reported in Seventeen magazine? She wore, Femme, by Rochas- too strong for me now but I bathed in it practically- when I finally married at mid-life-crisis- sorry, couldn't resist, I wanted to get we'd in that red dress with the mesh- the dress she wore when she married husband number 2- Ben Brierly- and the hat- etc- go to Pinterest if you've not seen it- I lack the cleavage but I'd have worn the entire outfit and gotten even more flack from my relatives- to deal with their scorn I became a drug addict, that was a few years after I charged my erstwhile psychiatrist with sex etc abuse- see how I really ought to be a beauty like her! She has IMHO the loveliest mouth- her lips aren't just full, the top lip has a delicate "up-turn" so even when pouting she has a smile- enough of my babbling....I agree, The Grande Dame of Rock...a Phoenix rising like her little tattoo- whatis it? A swallow? The bluebird of happiness, ironically? I always meant to copy that too- and add one on my bony chest! Leonard Cohen 's logo, The Order of the Unified Heart? On the cover of his album The Future- that - I got a estimate from a freelance, free hand, tattooist- he loved it- my husband's name begins with a G so we were going to make one of the handcuffs into a G- he loved it and made a copy and said, "at least 500.00cdn- needless to say, my flat chest remains unremarkable! Too much $ and pain....I've rattled on too long- migraine and pain- I'm in rehab now and my sleep cycle is fuhed up....Yeah Broken English- I DO prefer Voice A but I love her for embracing all of it and thriving- I wish she hadn't smoked all those Sobranis and Gauloises though- both her vocal chords and lungs suffered- I try to check every week on her- Nice to Meet You. You have excellent taste! Namaste from Tom Waits Nighthawk Diner Canada ( his song, Strange Weather, I don't know if he wrote it for her but nobody can touch it now-) alias, Holly Golightly

I don't know why you skipped the next two fantastic albums after Broken English called *Dangerous Acquaintances* and *A Child's Adventure*
Those are masterpieces that should never be ignored in my opinion

The Irish then adopted her and she lived there in Wicklow for years. I first saw her in Dublin. Said she’d be back.

In her first autobiography, Marianne admits that she's holding onto the table behind her to keep herself steady as she was extremely high on heroin and feared she would fall over.
