I lost my wife of 51 years last year. This brings back many wonderful memories and makes me realize how much I loved her. These words are exactly how I feel about her still and am working through life without her. Patty does such a lovely rendition of this that I have chills and some tearing every time I hear it.
People who love trad country music, when a super talented pleasing sincere voice was the draw, have always loved her. Those "stars" of the new country sound, where a big "production" and a dozen back up singers seem required can't touch hearts like Patty does. Loved it when she sang a lot with George Jones, when he had his own show. Later duets with Vince Gill were.super. Also Dwight and others. I have ears. Never needed CMA or others to tell me who is good.
Beautiful version of a beautiful song. I'm not a Patty Loveless devotee, but I keep coming back to this and hitting replay. Also, props to the guy on the acoustic (don't know her band so don't know his name). His harmonies are spot on and killer.
