Buying a farm in Portugal - Episode 3 - Oliveira do Hospital, Coimbra, 7 Hectares (May 2019)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- A seven hectare (17 acre) farm for sale next to the Mondego river in the Coimbra district, central Portugal. €90,000 Euros
400 metres of river frontage and a weir to help dam up a section of water for swimming, a private beach and private, spring fed, natural pond up on the hill. Lots of granite rocks, vibrant vegetation and stunning valley views!
Next to the river is an old mill and a granite farm house with license for reconstruction into a house. The land has 7 flat terraces suitable for farming and two licensed wells.
There are wild otters in the river as well as lot of fish and local birds of prey which soar in the skies above. The land is covered with beautiful and unique plant species and has numerous private spots to erect log cabins or glamping structures (tipis, yurts, tents etc).
I really like the idea of building a couple of log cabins each with their own private views of the river and valley which we could rent out as holiday cottages for extra income.

Oh gosh that's my dream property! 2 years too late! Love watching these videos!
Oliveira do Hospital and Tábua are amazing places to staying.
I wonder how much the river can overflow..this look amazing
Hi Ken,I'm looking at your older videos, and at 11.16 the lady shows you a beautiful purple flower "cardo",this flower is very important in our region, because her leaves are a natural coagulator for making cheese, and only cheese produced with cardo can be called serra de estrela cheese,if you ever decide to,I could explain the homemade cheese producing process hehe it's not difficult at all, just a few leaves of the cardo flower, crushed in a bowl with salt, and throw it in the milk and half an hour later, the milk allready begins to solidify,I'll spare you the whole process but it is a lot simpler than you imagine ,and in the future could be interesting to make a quick buck, because in the villages people ask between 8 to 10€ for 1 cheese, beautiful landscape!! was that somewhere near midões or carregal do sal??it's just the same as my village also the farming terraces, not easy!!in the castelo novo mountains you can find cardo also everywhere!!enjoy ken I love your videos, you are a natural explaining things and showing your routine,it's as if you are a local,it is hard to imagine that you integrated that quick, into your new life,I also saw a guitar lying about at your house,do you play?? i am a guitar player and own a Fender stratocaster and some other guitars we'll have a jam session one day!! I retire on the 1st of May 2025,but next time i'll be home, I'll be honoured to meet you personally and I'll bring the beers!!!
That's great info. I'm not sure if we are going to make cheese because everyone here is doing the same thing and it would probably end up costing us more to make in money and time. I bought a guitar a while back with the intention to learn but have not been practicing much. I must start again 😁👍
@@OKportugal I agree there are some very good vlogs on cheese- making.
Looking forward to visiting my future holiday home :)
Soon Andy, we have bought a farm and should move in the next month... give us some time to settle in and lets make a plan :)
amazing spot but a challenge!
Nice piece of property
Thanks! What a spectacular piece of land. Olivera do Hospital is a spectacular area on top of my "travel bucket list". Is there a large group of English-speaking new immigrants that are building off-grid sustainable farms in this area?
Hey Cathy, it is a really lovely location. Yes I think all around Central Portugal there are a lot of expats, buying up abandoned homesteads and starting new lives.

@@OKportugal I love some of the vistas around Santa Ovaia and the area where the two rivers converge. I
Hi i am new to you Vlog, Permaculture i am learning about it, We have a few countries in mind to move to want about 10 Acres, we do not want a property to have to rebuild from scratch, it would be nice if it had Electricity and Water. We would love ac Acre of Wildflowers and Cut flowers. and we have promised our Grandson 6 Ducks. We have a large family and quite a few Grandkids x i will look forward to following your joined. Getting a good lawyer from England i think would be the best, Do you have a vlog that tells one how to start the process from when you buy the land, Can you guys speak the language yet. Firs to learn for me would be Utility Bills. So many Homesteaders live off grid but that is hard. No water No Electricity x
Love this Video, Great Place.
This was one of our favourites too!
Gorgeous
it was one of my favourites :)
wow, this one is beautiful!!
It was one of our favourites and sold before we had a chance to do another viewing.
@@OKportugal aww too bad, but the right one will happen for you!
What an overbearing, bossy real estate agent giving you unasked for opinions on what probably is useless information. Beautiful looking land, but is there any land left in Portugal that isn't cut down?
So beautiful and plus just 75.000 pounds
Yes it was an amazing place. It sold about 2 weeks after I took this video!
Oké. All right. Oké.
And that's why we called the channel "OK" Portugal 😂 I don't say OK as much now in my newer videos I promise 😅
stunning
Where is lokation ... what name river .. verry interesting
This property sold very soon after we viewed it. It was on Oliveira do Hospital and the river was called the Mondego river.
Dude, Wattle and Acacia are the same thing and lots of Acacia are invasive species in Portugal
Yes I thought it was
What about dates and figs? Everyone there raises olives.
Olives, citrus and grapes grow here with minimal effort. Sure you can grow other crops too but make sure you know how hot the summers get and also how cold and frosty it can get in the winter.
Hello guys! What is the restriction on 99 feet of vineyards the lady talks about? I couldn't get it.
I have no idea. I haven't heard anyone else talk about it again.
@@OKportugal Good to know. Thanks, Ken!
Nice
It was an amazing piece of land that sold 2 weeks after we saw it. ❤
Its a pity that we did not have the cameras that we have now to capture better quality sound and video of this place.
Any contact? Would like to check if current owner might want to sell
This property sold about 2 weeks after we visited

was the ruin constructed before 1951?
I think it was. This property sold a couple of weeks after we looked at it though.
@@OKportugal you mean someone else bought it before you? I dont think she gave you correct info. If the documents show the ruin was built or registered pre 1951, she would not have had to have any formal recognition from the camera that it is a "habitational house".
Hi how are you ? hope you are great i love your videos keep going , Sir can you please tell the information of this property or contact information , Thank you so much i appreciate if can give me any information
This particular farm sold shortly after we put the video online. You can contact me us OKportugal@hotmail.com
@@OKportugal Thank you so much !
That would have not have been a good choice. Far too much land and tourism is dead in the water for now.
forest fires, forest fires , forest fires hell
There are many ways to mitigate that, talk to a Fire Warden in the area.
