- Hey Guys! In this video, I'll go over some of the most basic functions of Adobe Audition that you'll use for Voice Over. This is just scratching the surface of this software, I'll have to make a part 2!

First of all, thank you so much for your videos. You’re very good at what you do & I love your voice. My only issue (and this issue belongs to ME, not you) is that I am a COMPLETE beginner. Do you offer videos that go over terminology & explanations of very basic editing? I’ve got to learn 4 basics things to apply to my own VO for an audition/interview in a week, so I need the real BASICS. Hoping you’ve got some advice. Thank you so much again for your content!

Always great angela. I'm surprised you did not mention the audio ducking feature which works pretty well for combining narration over music.
I only share what I use. I don't use this feature, so I don't pretend to know everything about it. 😉

Question: At 9:30 in the video you speak about a "clicker" to leave a spike. What kind of clicker? Is that clicker part of the software? Is it something else? Thanks for all of your helpful information.
I use a dog training clicker to mark mistakes. Or, you can clap, or snap, or use something else that makes a sharp noise. Thanks for watching!

Hi Angela, Great wee demo . At 12.33 you say you can increase the volume of the vocal track using the wee icon in the bottom left of the track. Won't that just adjust the volume of that `clip' ON the Vocal track not the volume of the whole track ?.

Hello Angela . have an issue again . I think I am on the ACX for author page and not narrator because there is no upload button. How to switch please? I have 3 auditions waiting to do. thanks
In punch n roll, the replacement you add HAS to be the same time length as what it is replacing!
@jimwilliams6827 if you're splicing or using punch n roll to correct something later? If you find something you need to revise afterwards, I would just record the new line in another file and paste it over the incorrect line.

I want to use Adobe Audition to make music videos of my past recordings. How can I use Adobe Audition to do this? I would be adding additional sound files to the video. Wav or MP3 best? I'm planning on a UA-cam page to place all my music videos. Thank you. Carter Kuehn
If your final output, or finished product is video format, you'll need video editing software. I use Adobe premiere pro for video. Adobe audition is for audio output only.
Ms. Angela. I am embarrassed to ask you if you could give me a name of someone who could help me with the presets. I am all set up to record but have waisted too much time trying to get the presets to work. I purchased the NS1from Waves but I can't get it on my preset. I just want to start working and have put money into setting all this up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Moving the volume with key frames is called rubber banding.
Hello Angela your video's have been very helpful. I just started using adobe audition your -db on the right side show -1 , -3 , -6 and -9. How do i get mine to do that? Mine shows -1, -2, -4 and -6
Hover your mouse over that right side section and then scroll your mouse, it essentially zooms in and out.
I use Adobe Audition to convert text to speech. I can’t get the full duration of the text to output as audition. I will have a one hour piece of text but the program only outputs 6-8 minutes. Any idea?
As I have never used audition for this purpose, so I don't have any thoughts about the issue. It may be the format in which you are saving it as? I honestly didn't even know you could do this with audition.

Thanks for watching! I think at the time of this recording I was using OBS. But I've since moved to streamyard, it's super easy to use

I don't have a dedicated/treated room, but decided to use my closet...the audio (and new mic) sounded great! but it rained, so I hear a little pitter patter in a few spots...what is a good edit effect for that?
I would think there are too many different frequencies of sound to remove within dialogue to use an effect. You may have to either heal brush then out, insert room tone over them or re-record that section if they are that audible in the recording.
Hello Angela. Ok so I am of a better understanding with ACX, and thanks but question on audition. When I search books it says available but when I go to my audition it is already taken. How to find it available?
You just have to be fast. Don't wait on an audition. Also, it could be that the RH already had a narrator lined up but had to post it on ACX for the contract or for Royalty Share options.

I do what you suggested to do and thanks to email them. despite it said it was done it wasn't. :)- I just have that use with the narrator page I posted on your other video about that it is author page and not narrator I am in on ACX. because thereis no upload button to send auditions :( not sure how to switch it
@@VoiceOverAngela Got my 1st contract!!! yeah... it's a 20 book contract !!!!! The author has about 20 books in the series. I just have to figure out the ACX and find their nr to call

@@VoiceOverAngela Thats great because I did complete two auditions and submitted them, but I don't believe I edited them properly. Once I get over the editing hump I think I will feel more confident. I noticed that in the General menu it shows all the coordinates for your audio clip. I just need help adjusted those to meet the ACX requirements. If you can share some help on that I will help my daughter with it. We both appreciate you! Thanks so much again!!
@@christineayala3343 yeah editing is the tough part... but once you get it, you are golden.... it took alot of playing with different settings to find some that worked and then I saved them as a rack preset in audition. Saves so much time... that'll be a good point to touch on for another video. 😉

Hi! Thanks for watching! I learned through a combination of these, alot of trial and error, UA-cam videos as well as an Adobe Audition Course created by an audio engineer.

It's fine and the British teacher is good, but much of his humor is lost on me and often unnecessary fluff. He tends to rush through examples. Its been challenging for me coming from using a totally different DAW and I really want a good understanding of Adobe Audition!

Does audition offer any functionality that premiere pro does not? I have a limited budget and can't really afford a ton of programs
Audition is for audio and Premiere Pro is for video. :) If you have to pick one, go with Audition for voice over.
I am having a problem with .wav files in Adobe. I am able to create a new audio file and save it as a .wav file. However, on my Mac when I go to upload the .wav file to an email or a pay-to-play platform, the file on my screen is in light gray color and will not allow me to upload it. I can click on the file and play it on my computer, but I am not allowed to upload it. Any advice? Thanks!
A wav file is an uncompressed audio file, so it's larger than an mp3. Some sites either do not allow a wav file to be uploaded or may have a size requirement. And good for email, it may be too large. For emails, you'll either need to zip, or use a Google drive link or another file transfer service like wetransfer.

I read on a recent meditation video that UA-cam has suspended monetization for meditation channels. Is that true? If so, what if all of your content is 100% original, (branding, video, music, script, voiceover)?
Hi Eric! I have not heard that meditation channels can not or have been barred from monetization. The monetization is nice but the platform to market yourself is just as important. UA-cam is a great way to be found for voice over, you just need to find the right formula to be found by the right people.
@@VoiceOverAngela Thank you for your reply! I started a new channel and it took a long time to earn the money to buy equipment, so I hope that post was in error. I discovered your channel when searching how to remove noise clicks in Audition which led me to RX 9. I will definitely watch more of your videos to see if you address how to build an audience in such a massive UA-cam category. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Angela, as a new audiobook narrator I love your channel! I have my first long book on the books but I'm wondering how you go about recording the longer ones--for my short ones I've really just done them all in the same file, but I don't think that will work for something so long, so I'm curious what the norm is! thanks :D
Hi! Thank you for watching! For the longer books, I record each section or chapter in a separate file and then process each one the same way so they are uniform in sound. I think I may have a few other videos on my channel about audiobook production as well that go into more detail. :)

What about audacity?
I used Audacity in the very beginning, for only about a month or 2. I switched to Audition and know much more about Audition than I do about Audacity.
