It is funnier to know that Change of Habit was Elvis' film that was All In The Family-like. Autism wasn't even addressed fair enough before Change of Habit. This whole episode built on Change of Habit, including with the reference to nuns without habits and the guitar mass Edith attended.
@@minewheaties5029 Ironically, one of the things that Inspired Norman Lear to create a show like ALL IN THE FAMILY was listening to the radio back in the 1930's as a teenager to the rantings of Father Charles Coughlin, a hate mongering Catholic priest whose radio show, the Golden Hour of the Shrine of the Little Flower spewed hatred anti-Semitic rhetoric. Coughlin not only railed against the Jews, but also communists, Roosevelt's New Deal which he called the "Jew Deal" and expressed his pro-Nazi sympathies. I know he is a fictional character, but wouldn't Archie Bunker, although against Catholics, find Coughlin's anti-Semitic views appealing? Wouldn't he give up his anti-Catholic ways? Would the Protestant Bunker and make exception with the Catholic Coughlin and be behind him? That's not to say Archie would convert to Catholicism. Ironically, Carrol O'Connor was himself Catholic. But as previously said, Coughlin was not only against Jews, but also but also communists and Roosevelt, both of whom Archie hated also? During Kristalnacht, with the burning of synagogues all across Germany, Father Coughlin complained that not enough of them were burned.

Did you eat a cookie....I remember hearing that for the first time as a kid and being totally shocked!!! Laughing, but totally shocked! That was DARING back then!!!!
You ever seen Change of Habit? The episode built on that Elvis film which cast Mary Tyler Moore and Ed Asner before the start of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. It was one of Elvis' most politically incorrect films which even be considered All In The Family-like. Autism certainly wasn't addressed too well in the popular culture before Change of Habit. They even referenced things Change of Habit brought up like "guitar mass" and nuns without habits.
“You wouldn’t even know what you done if you done it!” I’m done 😂🤪🤣 no funnier character on tv now especially or ever. Carroll O’Connor’s mannerisms while delivering his lines were priceless. No question the writing was there but the delivery was his own RIP COC!
I remember being told by a nun in catholic school that if you stick a host with a pin it'll '' bleed ''... goes along with '' crying statues '' I guess.
Well, most Protestant arguments are unfounded if one takes the traditions of the Early Church into account. That said, he used the word 'cookie' to describe our Eucharistic Bread, which I've only heard Chick Tract proponents use. Given that Chick and his ilk, Tony Alamo and The Bereans, were incredibly popular during the 70s, I'd assume the word was picked up by Archie from reading their propaganda.
Rocky211 Practically nobody of the "early church" agreed on anything. You can find much from the "Church Fathers" both denouncing and supporting romanism. How about we use the Bible? The Catholic Church has 100s of universities and hospitals around the globe. The Big Bang theory was discovered by a Roman Catholic priest. Copernicus worked for the Catholic Church.
I watched this with my dad as a kid and of course didn't realize how good an actor he was. RIP.
"DID YOU EAT A COOKIE?!" All these years and that remains one of my all-time favorite lines!
Omg did u watch Archie's chair. So funny!
I love it when Irene tells Archie that's dumb, even for you! It's the Body, Blood, and Soul of Jesus Christ!
I call it a cracker myself.
I call it a cracker myself.
Shows why Elvis should've been an All In The Family guest star. This episode was building on Change of Habit
“Did you eat a cookie?!” LOL
This is even funnier now knowing that Carroll O'Connor was Catholic.
Once I saw him being interviewed by Raymond Arroyo on EWTN.

Straight up facts.
Archie reminds me of me.
Father Majeski was awesome.
Call down, Archie. She could have become a Buddhist.
I want to be like Edith
Caroll O'Connor was BRILLIANT
Archie, that's called the host. I've been to Mass before.
He knew that. Archie was Catholic in real life lol
Seriously? You’re correcting a TV character?
It’s a cracker, not a cookie.
One of the AITF episodes that is not dated. O'Connor was great being both tyrannical and pleading.
Did you eat a cookie!
Where can I find the whole epsoide?

Tom Closs no......?

Seems like Archie has read some Chick Tracts.
Right, because all Protestant suspicion and argument against romanism comes from Chick tracts.

Did Luther, Calvin, and Tyndale use the word cookie or wafer in description of the Holy Eucharist?
