also I cannot tell the difference between University Life and World Adventures logos (orange circles) so i mix them up all the time
@@Rekowcski Beats me, also World Adventures has a gradient design and University Life is just Orange. I sometimes get the Pets, Town Life stuff, and Outdoor Living stuff icons mixed up.
@@Rekowcski Ambitions and Pets are like that too. If I had a monitor the size of France I bet I could pick out the difference.
Yeah I'm down a monitor size due to relocating haha.
@@Rekowcski Tell me about it. I have no room in my place so I play Sims 3 on a laptop. Takes up a third of my desk space. Playing Sims 3 on a laptop is sorta like going to the Moon using a slide rule anyway, plus this thing has the largest monitor I could afford, about 15" / 38 cm diagonal.

Also the build reminds me of a futuristic houseboat. Maybe it's the hexagon windows since Into The Future loves its polygon shapes, but I could see it in Oasis Landing if it still had a ocean.

i love the white tinted windows for this build! feels very realistic to reflect some of that light and heat from all the bright sun pouring in
I forgot I could change the colour.. I remember now that I made them pink for the barbie dream house haha
Personally, I call the "front" where the entrance to the lot is as that is where the entrance to the 'house' has to be. Also when dealing with a small space, I just put one sink in the kitchen if the bathroom is right by the kitchen. Save those simoleons.
There is ONE single bed that is level 5, ONE.
I think I would have just put a platform on the roof.
For flooring, if you just get the "simple flooring" and change the pattern its much cheaper than using the premade flooring. The same way you did for the walls. Now for walls, I look for the pattern, sometimes you want it all one color just go for the "Dado" one because you can make both halves the same pattern and it looks like it was all one. But if you are looking for molding or a baseboard, or a stripe across the top or something, then I just look for the cheapest in that and change it, usually it doesn't even matter what category it comes from since you can change it anyway. Just sayin'. Every simoleon counts.

the sims 4 still doesn't have spiral stairs, only ladders, which makes it so that you can't do laundry if it comes from upstairs, so I needed a whole mod to be able to place laundry in my inventory I think (maybe not anymore but at one point it was like this and I just wondered why 🤣)

It would be cool if in Sims 3 there were a blank cheap painting canvas that you could place whatever texture, I know there is a tapestry like that but I think it's expensive and big
14:40 If I need to save money on a build, it's Pool Wall all the way. The top 1/6-ish of the wall can be made into a border and it really looks awesome. There won't be a baseboard, but in a small room with furniture you'll never notice that anyway.

I enjoyed watching this video, I've never actually built a houseboat so I learned a few things. Also a few things I didn't know about before, like being able to point those ceiling lights, and that you can change the frosting on those windows. I've been playing Sims 3 for over 12 years and I'm still learning stuff. Thank you.
I didn’t even know we could build kind of a boat house only using the base game, that’s why I always choose sims 3 ;)

@Rekowcski Embressingly, I once forgot to put doors on the 2nd floor. It took me longer than it should have to realize.

I was just building with Into the Future and I found that those cool windows have a downside. They let in TOO much light. Yep, too much. Everything in the Bot Emporium I built, Bots R Us (I know, corny but fun) was all glowy, very glowy, changed to regular windows and it was fine. So you have to be careful with those. I was building in Sunlit Tides if that makes a difference, which it doesn't that I've seen as I do not have any lighting mods.
hmmm maybe they all function as a light as well? and I wonder if it's brightening both sides or just one side... I'm going to have to play test at night haha
@@Rekowcski I don't think they are lights, though I could be wrong, I put the wall decor lights around the top of the building to make it glow at night and without additional lights inside it wasn't all lit up. I think its just a side effect of using too many of those lights.

Terrible thing to comment now that you've already built the houseboat. But since Roseanne is a Politician/Romance Sim a "party yaht"-style houseboat would work so well! Maybe an idea for when Martin dies. lmaoooooo
Edit: A penthouse style would also work really well! And is more in-line with what you have built.
Oh it's definitely going to turn into a single girl boat over time. I figure the baby can go in a room and she can have men over for dates 😭
I never played IP so house boats are new to me, this is fun. As a builder myself, first thing I noticed is the whole deck platform is only 96 tiles, and this includes the gangplank and the helm. This is the largest size? That's less square footage than some starter homes I've made. I don't see how you could make a house boat more than barely livable without going up (or below deck).
there is a larger size, but it doesnt have a curved bow... there are 5 sizes total, two curved, 3 rectangle i believe
most houseboats i've made/downloaded had the "living room" up on deck and then everything else is in a basement. those all in one bathrooms really come in handy for it, it's definitely a tiny home tho
I might need to do that once we have a new member of the family
i thought ts4 had spiral staircases by now but apparently that was just a mod being used in the speedbuild i saw that had one. i guess ea feels no need to make them since they have the configurable stairs, but those just take up way too much space :/
The more you twist the stairs, the more tiles they take up.. even sims 1 had a teleportation elevator my goodness

oh for this house it's my Not So Berry challenge, so I'm not allowed to cheat the money hahah.... if im doing an empty build, the budget is often unlimited haha

I almost exclusively build base game houses in sims 3. Maybe I use ambitions counters or laundry, but usually just base game
