I am 75 years old with good eye sight, but hands not as strong as when I was 60. This gun felt right, shot right, and concealed right. Hats off to HK from a senior citizen 👍👍

I have the USP in .45 ACP & the P30 V3 in 9MM. The sights are very good on both guns. The recoil system on both guns functions very well. The .45ACP recoils like a normal 9MM not to mention 12+1 capacity.

Tru dat. Very balanced weapon system. Eats every bullet brand I've fed it. The extra weight at the muzzle counters muzzle rise for faster target reacquisition. Retrofitted with an aftermarket compensator and flared magwell, this gun is badass.

I was carrying a P30 .40 s&w when I put my bike down. my gun come out of my belt clip and slid on concrete. not a scratch on it and when I pulled it apart to clean it there was no damage. I do not regret buying this one bit. beside that I love that there is basically no recoil for it being a larger caliber.

My Hk45c is backup to my a Hk USP45. I've had glocks and Xd's and sig and they all kick ass, I love glock for putting firearms in the hands of men and women for $500 that's what it's all about, saving lives. My personal choice is to run with HK, they just run perfect in all aspects, plus packing an HK is just plain CLASSY.

Great video Tom!!! I own a P30 in 40 and am absolutely in love with it - extremely reliable, accurate and easy to operate. Some folks might not like the mag release but I love it because I don't have to change my shooting grip when changing magazines. If folks don't like the da/as trigger or are striker fired fans, they should try the LEM trigger. Very easy to carry and eats whatever I feed it.

Nice vid. as always... I agree with you 100% Tom! I bought the same P30 9mm last year, and it was my first HK. Now I am a true fan! I have several Glocks, but the HK is much higher quality, and worth the extra money as you said for sure! Once I put that P30 in my hand, I was hooked! Most ergonomic gun I own, period... The next one I am looking at is the HK USPc 40, which you have a couple of or more, lol!

HK has something the largest minority (almost 15%) in the US will REALLY care about. Ambidextrous controls! Hey gun manufacturers - STOP BEING BIGOTS. Completely support the left handed population. S&W M&P pistols have ambi slide locks, but you have to flip flop the mag release (useless if more than one one person with different handedness will use it). Springfield has ambi mag release, but fails with the slide lock. Glock? "What is left handed?" I realize that most of the right handed out there don't give a rip about the left handed controls because it's not on their radar, but think about this - what if you said you don't care about the black or Hispanic or Asian American shooters?? And they each make up less of the population than left the handed. When will firearm manufacturers go ahead and make their products FULLY ambidextrous? It's amazing!

  • @timdelph9048

Just bought a P30 in .40, for no real good reason since I own a USP in .40 as well. I have absolutely loved my USP, and have never found a .40 that shoots nearly as well. I put a little over 100 rounds through my P30 today, and it is a remarkable gun. The jury is out as to whether I like it better than my USP, but the ergonomics are better, and I seem to be able to make accurate shots faster, it is even faster back on target than the USP, which is a huge selling point of that gun over other .40s. Plus, being more compact and not having a safety, I likely will put this gun in rotation for concealed carry.

  • @joeychik

I just picked up the P2000 LEM. I'm new to the gun club and had to practice on family's glocks and sigs. I really didn't care for them. Then, I went to a gun shop and the guy put this one in my hand. My reaction? Oh my! This gun fits in my hand as warmly as my custom ice skates fit on my feet.
Took it to the range today for the first time, fired 115gr and 124gr NATO. The action, recoil, accuracy were incredible-BTW, the 124gr performed much better. Everything in this vid is dead on.
I have a western six-shooter and now this HK. This gun is sweet!

Just got a P30L in 40 and I traded a Sig emperor scorpion carry fastback for it- GLAD I DID. Also fitted an efk 9mm conversion barrel. This pistol has to be the best feeling polymer pistol I have ever fired. Something else special about the P30 is with a 9mm conversion barrel is that the recoil spring is 12lbs. with 40 or 9. The recoil buffers are different because of obvious difference in recoil so there is no need to have to get a second recoil spring for the caliber change. Also I have found that 9mm will feed and eject from the 40 mags! I would not recommend carrying it with the change unless you had 9mm mags in it. But for range fun it works! Amazing pistol and as always great video!

I'm going to pick up that HK 45c for another conceal carry weapon. And, when I watched the movie John Wick for a second time today, I noticed that he was working with a HK as well and that really kicked me over the edge. Lol! I think it is used in the movie Collateral as well with Tom Cruise. Great piece!

I has this gun with the short reset kit and little lighter hammer spring. Sold my CZ P01 to give the P30 a try. With that said I like my CZ P01 better. The P01 has a bit less flip with thew lower bore and my hand sits higher, fires faster, much better trigger making it more accurate for it. Both have great build quality. The P30 is a ounce or two lighter and hold 3 rounds more (I got 17 round mags). But the P01 just shoots more naturally for me.

  • @MrFlint62

I disagree, it's not one of the best, it's the best feeling gun on the market. Even better than a Walther P99.
With the "S" model, you get a safety, so you can carry it cocked and locked, just like a 1911.
About the slide release sticking out, it comes in handy with gloved hands.
About the Glock, I have one. I had to change the barrel because I reload and am uncomfortable with the unsupported chamber. The plastic sights had to be replaced. How cheap is the Glock now?
I love the mag release, and can't understand why some people don't like it.
You should probably add to check the gun once more before dry firing. Many ND's occur from not checking to see if round is chambered.
What I think? There is no better production gun on the market. If you want a 1911 trigger, get a 1911.

  • @Obersturmbahnfuehrer

I saw you wrestling to get the slide into position for disassembly as you held the grip with your right hand.
The way I do it is as per the manual, but inverted - I put my thumb and index finger around the beavertail and the back of the slide with the barrel facing outwards and the grip towards me. In this way my index and middle fingers have a very good control on the slide holding it in place only by tightening the grip after I have pushed it back with my left hand by the front serrations.
On a side note, for me the best combination of the side panels is if the one going into my palm is a bigger size than the opposing one, thus filling my hand nicely on the inside while on the other side my fingers are closed at an angle for minimal slippage.

One big thing I've noticed from various online comments is that people don't seem to understand that the "day glow" sights they've been putting on their pistols aren't some lame way to compensate for the laws that prevent H&K using the materials required to make night sights - they're low light condition sights that happen to also work in the dark. That's the genius of the design but all you'll hear from anti-H&K people is "for a thousand bucks, it should come with proper night sights".

Great company. I got the old school USP 45 that I really enjoy shooting! The P30 does have a great grip as a buddy of mine bought the 9mm version a few months ago. He doesn't seem to like it and I believe he wants to trade it off. If I didn't have plans to obtain some 1911s I'd probably talk price with him. They can be had for $900 around here however what's interesting about HK (and even Colt) the prices vary big time for some reason.

Thoughts on the sights. Your sig lites must be dead. So a comparison to dead nights isn’t really fair. Second the problem I see with hk sight is that they need that light to charge. If I have to pull my gun in self defense. It’s been in my holster getting no light. So they won’t work at all. And if I’m in a situation I have to pull my gun I don’t have time to pull out my flashlight and charge them

I don't know about that one... If you've ever done any low light shooting, the traditional night sights are quite hard to pick up in darkness. In a defensive situation at night, your first shots will most likely be point of aim instinctive shots. If you have time to take cover and then return fire, these sights are very useful. Once charged (and it happens instantly after being exposed to light), you can make a highly precision shot with this firearm. I have a P30 and speak from experience.

Excellent handgun and great video. Another must have is the Steyr S-40. Simply awesome. Also waiting for the Beretta APX in .40.

Great video. While I have a variety of guns including several Glocks I do not have an HK handgun. I do have an HK 91 and HK 94, both pre-ban, which are excellent weapons. I'm tempted to buy the P30.

The night sights look amazing, with the 2-3 seconds from the flash light. However, it's completely unrealistic in a self defense situation. A criminal isn't gonna wait for you to brighten up your sights. They'll be attacking before you can get your flashlight out of your pocket. Nice review other than that.

What you do not realize is that sun light keeps those sights bright

    • @MPerry-ox9qb
      @MPerry-ox9qb 10 років тому

No, I realize how it works. The problem is the firearm will be holstered & out of the sunlight. I'm fairly certain the police would be called if someone has their gun unholstered. That would be the only way to charge them. Now I could be wrong, but other reviews stated that the night sights only last for 1.5 hours, before needing to be charged again. Seems like a real hassle, unless the charge lasted for at least 8-12 hrs.
Thanks for the reply & keep up the good reviews.

Yes, the charge is only for about 1-1/2 hours. An attack will usually be less than 2-3 seconds; not enough time to pull your flashlight. I have replaced my OEM sights with Trijicon HD's.

I had the same concern with my hk45. If you want tritium instead, you can buy it. But not all night time encounters would require instantaneous use of the firearm. There are many times at home that I hear noises and have time to break pistol, light, phone, turn out lights, warn wife an child then follow through.

I have a P30 and overall I have been loving it. Excellent accuracy and very little recoil. The review is correct though in stating that the grip is second to no one. Also VERY easy to disassemble and clean.
IMO - I am not super excited about the trigger so far, compared to other handguns I have shot. Just doesn’t feel responsive enough for me. I also do not love the sights (which is why I have been shopping around for replacements). I do not know why HK thought that glow in the dark sights would be a good option.

imho since I have an HK p30, a few Sig 226s, and some glocks that trigger wise the Sig 226 takes it because of the srt. It rocks no doubt. The grip and overall recoil I feel is beat with the p30 and glocks are pretty cool cuz of the low bore axis which also helps with recoil. All are good weapons so it all goes down to the preferences you feel are important

Probably one of my biggest complaints about owning HK is that they don't like having mag interchangeability. I hope they come out with a striker pistol in the future. I'd imagine it would be similar to the walther ppq

I have the HK45 and the VP9. You are 100% right about having to shoot an HK to appreciate how nice they are and that they are worth the $1000 price tag. I am going back and forth on which one to get next, the P30L or the USP. Any suggestions?

Weapons Education "now", thats a good way to answer. I once purchased a USP 45T. That has been an expensive decision. Somehow it has multiplied.

    • @robertmoffatt

If you already have the 45, the USP is a double stack with thicker grip not liked by some small hands

In SA mode it would be a little scary. I have a CZ PO-9 with a decocker. But you can change it to manual safety for cocked and locked.
Do you have any experience with the HK Expert? That firearm looks awesome.

I can see this awesome pistol every day since has been adopted by the Swiss Law Enforcement . In fact with this pistol, they replaced the Sig Sauer 226 (by the way still in use in some Police Departments). I also have seen it at the range, it is very accurate however a bit pricy.

Great gun but regarding the sights I gotta say, it’s a nice idea but if I’m an officer on duty at 2:00am or a soldier and have to go to my firearm, I don’t have time to hit my sights with a flashlight nor would I want to give up my position for tactical reasons not to mention blowing my night vision to shit. I think just replace with a good quality night sight. Or there than that these are superior firearms.

In a real night fire fight, you aren't going to have time to get the gun out of the holster and it the sighted with light just to get them to illuminate! Dim indirect light will be all you have to work with in the best case scenario!
