@ Chad Reza. The MR556 barrels are cold hammer forged chromium. HK barrels don't rust. The only reason that the 416 is chrome lined is because the gov't required it. HK wasn't cutting corners, they never do. They made it out of a rust resistant material through and through, then made it more accurate. What's not to love :) I am buying two myself.
It is a really solid gun. Also for an HK the mags are not $60, they run about $30-40 based on where you get them, and there is decent holster support out there. It will also hold a TLR-1 or Surefire X300 on the rail. Great gun. A master at nothing, but very good at everything. I am very very happy with mine. So much so I might buy another as a back up.
Honestly, I consider the HK pistols to be masters of everything guns are supposed to do. Having carried a Sig P226 on the job for 20+ years, I cautiously bought my first H&K P30 Ver 3 chambered in 40 S&W, thinking it was probably overpriced. It was highly recommended by a good friend very well versed in firearms. Though I still love my Sig P226, the P 30 is the best gun I have ever owned. Extremely accurate, and totally reliable. Having fired about 4000 rounds through it, I have yet to have a malfunction. I have since added four more HK pistols to my arsenal. HK 45, HK 45C, P30SKS for edc, and P30L 9mm just because it’s a extremely fun gun to just go out and shoot. All of them are in my CC rotation. You can trust your life to any of them. And, the constant wining about the DA/SA trigger is grossly exaggerated. It’s very old-school, and very similar to the trigger on my Sigg P226, but once you use it for a couple hundred rounds you will probably get used to it, and may begin to prefer it. For an EDC, the V3 with thumb safety adds an additional layer of safety with proper training. If you love 1911’s, you will love the V3 with thumb safety as you can carry it in the same configurations as you carry your 1911.
Anytime, thanks for watching. I think if you are already a sig owner, the P30's trigger will be more than manageable. They also get much nicer as they are shot. The best trigger pull was the last one of the day.
I felt the same way when I bought mine two days ago. I have the safety on mine (P30S). It's kinda in the way but, I did find You can carry it like a 1911. Cocked and locked! The trigger does have a lot of take up but with some practice. I think I could love it even more. This thing feels awesome in your hands. I was looking for a new toy and I found it. I put only a 125 assorted rounds threw it yesterday and it ate everything I fed it. I also like when you put a new mag in it automatically batteries forward! Thanks for the video.
I shot a P30 at the range today, I was really impressed as it made me look like a better shot than I am, great feeling overall and the trigger wasn't nearly as bad as some folks were making it out to be. I bought the V3 with night sights, will pick up a P30 L if I happen to see one down the road. Anyway, great video, thanks for doing what you do!
As far as the build quality goes, the HK is far superior. Cost, and the trigger in the ppq do it for most people. There have been some recalls/issues already with the PPQ line. There are some people that swear by it, there are others that curse it. I will say if you do spring for the HK, while the Trigger is going to be something you will have to train to, the gun will never let you down. Make sure your first 300-400 rounds are 124gr's, or 124gr +p. The P30 recoil spring is calibrated to 124's.
I have the same experience. I got to put 1125 rounds through my P30, and I had a smile on my face in one way or another every single shot. It is just a great gun to run, shoot, and own.
Hey just want to Thank you. Love my HK45, ordered HK P30. Had one for me to hold but was sold.So much miss info out here. Originally from N.Y., Now in tampa area of Fl. If your ever down here feel free to drop in. Thanks again for all you do to keep us safe. God bless you and your family
I wouldn't go walther at this point because of the service problems some people have been having lately. The P30 is more expensive than the G17 and the G17 holds 2-4 more rounds if you opt for the mag extensions. I would see which handgun fits you best, and go with that out of those two. I will say, that I have had zero issues with my P30. It is a quality gun, and will serve you well. But if you can, hold, point and shoot both. See which one you shoot the best, and go with it.
Anytime, glad I could be of help. Thanks for your support it means a lot. I will PM you when I get to TX, I have friends in FL so I will be sure to stop in.
I noticed your buddy has a 1911, and I own a couple Les Baer's myself...and a Nighthawk....but I couldn't help notice the smile on his face as he shot the HK....funny thing, I know high quality 1911's...and own several....but I get the same smile every time I shoot my p30.
Well, if you love the P30, rumor from HK is, they are making the P30X which will be striker fired. Not sure on when they are making it, but if you can hold off until then, I think you might be happier. Outside of that, the Glock 19 and Walther PPQ are about on the same level. I will say that service for a Glock 19 will be easier and a faster turn around. GunsKnivesandWatches had a hell of a time with his PPQ, he dumped it, and got a P30.
You will probably never need service for a P 30 so it won’t matter. I have never had any malfunction after untold thousands of rounds fired. I really wish I would’ve kept better count. 😊
That's great I am glad you like it, and the HK45 is a great addition. I love it. I plan on more HK45's in the future. Possibly a Few tac's, the GB FDE's if HK can hurry up and get back to me, and one more standard for an LEM conversion. I can't wait to get back to the states. I need to start getting rifles though......
BEST POLYMER FRAMED PISTOL ON THE PLANET, hands down. the trigger is not bad at all...unless you are used to high end 1911s, which I am...and I got used to this trigger very quickly. that is the ONLY thing anyone can legitly complain about....the price, shmmh!!! if you complain about the price, you simply cannot afford this gun, or your an idiot. this is easily TWICE the pistol of any Glock, Sig, or any other polymer framed handgun...EASILY. you get what you pay for, in this instance...you get twice the pistol. great gun. I would not take a glock for FREE if I had to keep it and shoot it after owning this pistol. my .40 shoots softer than most other 9mm pistols I have shot. if the truth hurts that much ladies, don't turn around and bend over....this is the best duty type gun built anywhere in the world.
Great review !!!! I finally got my 9mm P30 today and a Blackhawk CQC Serpa Holster so I can EDC. This is the 6th member of my H&k family . It really is a beauty and feels awesome in your hand. I have the Med grip panels installed. I hope to put some rounds through it soon so I get used to it . It has the best feeling grip of all my H&Ks . The Hk45 full size is next .
Great Review ...I own the P30s V3 40 S&W...Ive owned and own many pistols (in the double digits) and the P30 is by far my favorite with a Kimber tactical pro carry II my close second
I got the MK25 at the same time as the P30 and shot them back to back frequently. The DA pull on the P30 is a touch heavier but not by much. The SA pulls are the same. I love my MK25 BTW It is a great gun. I have a review of it posted up too.
I just got the P30 V3 knowing the critics on the trigger prior before hand and I have to say, I don’t see what’s wrong with the trigger at all lol I’m not much of a sour ass on triggers unless it’s a low end fire arm but that HK P30 seemed nice to me. I shoot that model great just as good as my M2.0, M9A3, G19gen 4, etc. I was actually surprised how fantastic it handles recoil.
Joshua Richardson, we are like minded brother! I love seeing logical thinkers who do real research opposed to reading fanboy verbal vomit :)! If you think the HK P30 is just another semi-auto pistol you are dead wrong. This is a combat pistol and the trigger mechanics were intentionally manufactured by HK and they do not make anything without a clear objective for the shooter. I have the P30 V3 in 40 Cal for duty/SD and I know it will go bang every single time no matter how dirty or the environment. Oh and you can get one for 499.99 at CDNN sports. Hooha!
I am really new to firearms. I shot the HK45 with the DA/SA trigger. Right before I shot the 45, I shot a 9mm glock. (The glock was striker fire.) I was expecting heavy recoil from the 45. I felt no difference. I actually like that trigger. Also, since I am new, I don't have a bias and can learn either one. HK DA/SA for me. Quality gun that can last. I'm sold. HK45 tactical and an HKP30L for me please.
Exactly! The whole trigger thing is ridiculously overstated. It’s a combat trigger and a very good one at that. Extremely safe and totally predictable.
Yeah.. My MK25 (Sig P226) should be about the same trigger and I am a pretty good shot with it. It would mainly be for HD or a range gun but you never know I could put it in my winter carry rotation...
HK guns are great guns ive been going to the range and rent the HK USP45 its a great gun my first gun i own will be the HK45 down the road i will get the P30 .
I am going to get an LEM here soon, but all my FFL could find is the P30 V3 9mm. I wanted the P30L V3 9mm to start with honestly, but there was a huge dry spell, then the gun scare hit. I have a P30LS now also, but I haven't picked it up yet. I will probably get a P30 or P30LS LEM V1 here soon. I will also get another HK45 and set it up light LEM.
I'm a sig and a glock guy so yes I'm a trigger snob. I like everything about this gun except the trigger. Once you have had a taste of the SRT trigger in a Sig you really don't wanna have much to dot with the trigger on this one. Your spot on when you said everyone would own one if the trigger was better. I'm trying to make myself go get it and just can't do it right now.
HK VP9 is coming out soon, it fixes everything wrong with the P30, just made it a striker fired pistol. I wish the hammer fired was better, but the step in the right direction is welcome.
navyman8903 That's good to know, problem is I like SA/DA pistols. Striker fired is nice but I have that already in the Glock 19. Maybe HK will come out with a trigger upgrade for the P30. I would very much like to see you do a review of a Sig p229 preferably one with an SRT trigger. Congrats on another great vid keep'em coming.
I love the everything about this gun, ergo's, build quality, look everything...………..except the trigger. I don't even mind the de-cocker or the mag release. But the trigger is bad enough I haven't to date bought one.
F.Y.I. These guns are not overpriced. I own A HK P30 V3 .40 and it is the softest shooting .40 I have ever fired. Fits the hand perfect, Accurate as all get out. If you have the cash you have to give it a try!!! Good Vid!
Have you shot the HK P2000? I might pick up the P30 instead of the HK45 since i already have G19 and just stay all 9mm. Have you shot a XDM45 maybe you can do that on your next rent-a-gun-review series. I figure the P30 would be easier to conceal.
also in regards to the trigger reset for what ever reason (just luck maybe) my finger always goes out as far as the reset naturally and I don't have as many rounds on mine as you do !
Too ALL THE PEOPLE TALKING SHIT ABOUT THE HKs. If you do jot like them then dont waste you time watching the videos. Its funny how I always see these kind of comments on HK vids. We are on the same side we all LOVE GUNS. navyman even says that glocks are good reliable pistols. They do what are made to do shoot. I have a G19 and cant wait until I get my HK soon.
hey i was trying to decide on a ppq or p30. I noticed that you said that have held both pistols and was hoping you could provide some insight. I like the p30 but the price is considerably more than a ppq any thoughts on finish or build quality?
If you had a choice would you go with a Glock 19 or Walther PPQ M1 (classic)? I already have a HK45 and am going to get a HK P30L but also want to have a striker fired pistol.
funny thing about you "glock shooter" comment.... I have more trigger time on Glocks then HK's and for me I can shoot my P30 just as well or even sometimes better. And I love the reloads, fastest reloads I have ever had and seen outside a P7 I would imagine.
Navyman, im considering buying an mr556a1 but have heard many people bash it due to the fact that it doesnt have a chrome lined barrel, what are your thoughts?
Dude.. Excellent review!! I really like that gun. I don’t own it nor do I own any H&K. I was looking for something to replace my G26 Gen3 it this maybe it. As you say.. I am still a little reluctant about that trigger but then again.. I own a few Sigs that probably come close to same tolerance. My Bday is coming up soon and the wife asked me what I wanted ... Hmmmm :0 .. Thanks for sharing brother.
Currently there is no Factory Match trigger options for the P30. There are a few aftermarket gunsmiths you can send them to, but other than that, nothing from the factory.
I voted for a republican sheriff named Ron Bateman here in Maryland. He lost though. I'll never vote for liberal prosecution again. Worst mistake of my life lol
That Gun is over PRICED NOT WORTH THE MONEY THERE ASKING, I'VE GOT THE PPQ M2 AND THE GRIP IS JUST AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER THAN THE P30, NOT TO MENTION PPQ HAS THE BEST TRIGGER OUT THE BOX WHICH IS WHAT COUNTS,HK P30 TRIGGER...NO GOOD
That may be, however that is all preference. You will also not see the QC issues with the HK's that you see with the Walthers. HK's are built solid, and are quality pieces. I do think HK's should be about $100 cheaper, or come with 1 more magazine and true night sights standard. I also don't like the PPQ M2, the button release wasn't needed, and is in the way.
Yeah it's personal preference, all my guns have the button that's what i like, and yeah if the trigger was better and about $250 cheaper I'd get a p30, no problems with mines of so it has a life time warranty
says EVERYONE who cant afford the HK...lmao. give it up and admit it...you cant afford it. BECAUSE IF YOU WERE HONEST, and had the money, and shot them both, you would be an idiot to pick a walther over an HK...
yeah, you are buying a walther OVER an H&K AND talking about quality.....now you just PROVED who is the dummy here bud! walther are DECENT guns, but they have had LOTS of issues, and from what I am hearing from the three people I know who have had problems...their customer service is a joke as well....H&K, on the other hand, I have never heard of anyone even having issues with one. funny guy, but go talk shit to someone who does not know any better. your comment on quality tells me you obviously don't know shit. carry on, and have fun using your walther as a paper weight when it takes a huge shit on your shoe....I honestly just hope it wont be when you need it in a life or death situation...I know I don't have to worry about that with a H&K. And to be honest, you would be WAY better of with a smith m&p than a walther!
I will give you the expensive part. But as for it looking at all like a Hi-point, you are really off base there. I would say your glock looks more like a hi point, and resembles its quality before the HK even comes close.

We Will see. I have a feeling I will like the P30L more, but I am keeping this P30 forever.

Thanks for the feedback. It is a fun shooter, and a serious self defense piece all wrapped into 1. I am very glad I gave her a shot.
As far as the build quality goes, the HK is far superior. Cost, and the trigger in the ppq do it for most people. There have been some recalls/issues already with the PPQ line. Super expensive. But, they never let me down, I can't wait to get the P30LS home.
I like the full size USP just for the guide rod and recoil spring set up, plus its just perfect. Get a USP 40, you wont regret it.

It is my pleasure, thanks for watching.
Possibly the P30LS vs the P226 it would be more appropriate. The sizes are closer, and the uses at about the same.
I noticed your buddy has a 1911, and I own a couple Les Baer's myself...and a Nighthawk....but I couldn't help notice the smile on his face as he shot the HK....funny thing, I know high quality 1911's...and own several....but I get the same smile every time I shoot my p30.

I just got an SL version a month ago. I'm loving it!
I love cross creek. They are the reason I have so many mags. Thanks for the reminder, I have to do some shopping.
Yes, if you shoot it well, it can do everything.
Once you get used to the mag release, it is faster in my experience. I use my middle finger on my strong hand.
Hooha!
CPT Coats amen brother! And for 499.99 that’s a steal! HK doesn’t make bs that’s for sure.
I'm sold. Exactly! The whole trigger thing is ridiculously overstated. It’s a combat trigger and a very good one at that. Extremely safe and totally predictable.
Nice review, i the video is older. Just got one with a comp on it from my friend.
Yeah.. My MK25 (Sig P226) should be about the same trigger and I am a pretty good shot with it. It would mainly be for HD or a range gun but you never know I could put it in my winter carry rotation...
I have some left over, but not much. I will see what I can do. You get first dibs if I send any out.
I never noticed the flinch until i saw your p30L 90-day update.
The reset gets me sometimes. Some strings are clean and fast. No problems, others are killing me with that reset. I will get it down one day.
i bet if it was your main/only gun system it would not be an issue. But since you have multiple platforms you have too adjust.
ajfam871 I agree completely.
My P30SL has the nicest DA trigger I've handled.
HK guns are great guns ive been going to the range and rent the HK USP45 its a great gun my first gun i own will be the HK45 down the road i will get the P30 .
Reliability of a hammer fired gun vs a striker fired gun?
I am going to get an LEM here soon, but all my FFL could find is the P30 V3 9mm. I wanted the P30L V3 9mm to start with honestly, but there was a huge dry spell, then the gun scare hit. I have a P30LS now also, but I haven't picked it up yet. I will probably get a P30 or P30LS LEM V1 here soon. I will also get another HK45 and set it up light LEM.
I might get a P30 9mm in LEM just to try it out. I am thinking that the LEM might make the trigger situation a little better for the P30.
I personally feel like the PPQ is more comfortable than the P30...
How durable is the nylon buffer? Any issues with it?
It's good to go, zero issues.
I'm a sig and a glock guy so yes I'm a trigger snob. I like everything about this gun except the trigger. Once you have had a taste of the SRT trigger in a Sig you really don't wanna have much to dot with the trigger on this one. I would very much like to see you do a review of a Sig p229 preferably one with an SRT trigger. Congrats on another great vid keep'em coming.
Well said buddy! Still feeding my P30, it truly is a do everything and go everywhere handgun. Keep shooting and stay safe. Thumbs Up
I love the everything about this gun, ergo's, build quality, look everything...………..except the trigger. I don't even mind the de-cocker or the mag release. But the trigger is bad enough I haven't to date bought one.
this has Jack Bauer's approval nuff said
I agree 100% on the p30l vs p226. I just figured since you had the p30 and p226 it was cheaper lol
I have one, the L version. I love it... but you left out one thing... They are expensive...
also in regards to the trigger reset for what ever reason (just luck maybe) my finger always goes out as far as the reset naturally and I don't have as many rounds on mine as you do !
Great channel! Thank you for your service! Any chance of a p226 vs p30?
Very good video DevilDolphin!
I know this was filmed 7 yrs ago...but has your buddy had your buddy had his baby yet?
Best weapon ever, a specially Variant 1, LEM
Thank you for video and review.
Hey Navyman, is the slide release on any of your HK's have some play on the right side?
DA/SA or LEM trigger which do you prefer?
For the P30 series triggers, I tend to prefer the DA/SA V3 non safety. For the HK45 series, or USPc 9mm's I like LEM.
Great review. I own the 40 s&w lem and love it!
hey i was trying to decide on a ppq or p30.
I love how all these people say "I will never get my money" but sure enough I always see those kind of comments on HK videos. Lol....
snag some mags from cross creek navyman. mike is the man and actually has them in stock lol you came back just in time
hey do you save any of your brass when you shoot, because if you don't I would like to have or buy the brass that you shoot ?
Thank you sir.
navyman8903 I still can't find a vp9 have you got yours yet?
FYI realtrip, I may follow you around and "like" all your comments.
Warning once you shoot the p30L you will get rid of the p30. We all do.
Actually, I am both, and I will never get rid of either one of them! They are both that good!
Have you installed or do you know if OEM match grade triggers are available for the p30?
Currently there is no Factory Match trigger options for the P30. There are a few aftermarket gunsmiths you can send them to, but other than that, nothing from the factory.
That’s a great gun. I want one!!
Is there a match trigger kit for the P30?

I voted for a republican sheriff named Ron Bateman here in Maryland. He lost though. I'll never vote for liberal prosecution again. Worst mistake of my life lol
What variant is this? V3?
buddyro5 Yes, this is the V3.
.223 bolt action no scope lol
I'm cheating on Hickok45 lol
Get a trigger job done and all problems solved! Grey guns trigger or any other competent gunsmith.
LOL ANOTHER DUMMY BUYING BY THE NAME INSTEAD OF QUALITY HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I COULD GO BUT ONE NOW,BUT I DON'T HAVE A BOAT TO ANCHOR DOWN LOL HAHAHAHAHA
yeah, you are buying a walther OVER an H&K AND talking about quality.....now you just PROVED who is the dummy here bud! walther are DECENT guns, but they have had LOTS of issues, and from what I am hearing from the three people I know who have had problems...their customer service is a joke as well....H&K, on the other hand, I have never heard of anyone even having issues with one. funny guy, but go talk shit to someone who does not know any better. your comment on quality tells me you obviously don't know shit. carry on, and have fun using your walther as a paper weight when it takes a huge shit on your shoe....I honestly just hope it wont be when you need it in a life or death situation...I know I don't have to worry about that with a H&K. And to be honest, you would be WAY better of with a smith m&p than a walther!

It looks like a really expensive Hi-point. HK will never get my business from there pistol line.
I will give you the expensive part. But as for it looking at all like a Hi-point, you are really off base there. I would say your glock looks more like a hi point, and resembles its quality before the HK even comes close.
ok. The blocky portion of my Glock throws it off a little bit, the HK actually looks like a Hi-point.
+CastleDoctrine87 haha dont be mad you cant afford HK. keep saving!
High bore axis like a sig but made of plastic? Money will not compensate for bad fundamentals. It's a piece of junk.
