A lot of reviewers don't like LG's skin but on my G6 I have tried Microsoft Launcher and Nova, but switched back to the stock LG launcher (pick the option w/App drawer IMO) and it works fine.
I've had my v30 for maybe 8 months and tried all these launchers, I keep going back to stock. Stock skin is just simple and clean with literally zero lag and battery performance is just second to none.
Still delighted with my LG V30+ 8 months on from purchase. Amazing audio playback and video camera. V. good battery. Personally i use the dual sim slot for a 128gb card - giving me 256gb and i use this for music, podcasts and movies. A great entertainment device. Downsides? Camera and screen display not up to Samsung or Apple standards - but 90% as good so I don't notice these in everyday use.
Always been a OG Samsung user. Back in the day, my wife had the G4, which I checked out and was pretty impressed with it. So when upgrade time came, both me and the wife moved on to the G5. Awesome underrated phone. Phone got damaged through water damage, so naturally moved onto the G6. Really loved the phone, but had a chance to get the Samsung S8 at a great price and with so many great reviews moved onto the S8. Besides the good camera and beautiful screen, the S8 was really annoying to use. So thought about going back to the LG G6, but opted to go with the V30+ instead. Love it!!! LGs phones are really underrated. Super wide camera lens and perfect placement and shape for finger print scanner. Only negatives I have is the crappy selfie cam and no removeable battery.
The HD Channel - Vlogs, Reviews & Stuff i once had the lg v30 but trade it with the pixel 2 xl because of the better camera but i instantly regret it the wide angel camera was so useful that i didn't care of the of the google pixel quality i still miss my v30 to this day
Alicia Hernández I was so tempted to get the Pixel 2l XL, but I knew I would miss so many features. I have the Hacked Pixel Google Camera App on my V30+ improves the camera so much more with HDR+, HDR+ Enhanced and potrait mode & AR Stickers 👍
3165dwayne Seriously? Pictures on Gcam are so much more sharper and colours pop. Where you can see the biggest difference is when you use potrait mode or on selfie mode, night and day difference
This is actually Mary's son speaking, and I'm using my mom's Samsung Galaxy J7 v. I've been really wanting a phone for a very long time, and I really want an lgv30 as my first phone. I am in 7th grade right now, and everyday I always see a lot of people on their phones on the bus and I really wish to have a phone. I started considering the lgv30 because one of my best friends whom I always sit next to on the bus has an lgv30, and I like watching him play games on it, and he even let's me play on it sometimes, and I think it is a really great phone! So when I got interested in it, I started doing further research into it, and found out a lot more things about it, and now I think it will be the perfect phone for me. My dad even said that he could buy me a phone, and I'm really excited!
The screen seems a little dim for an OLED. And the speaker is garbage. For a person like me who uses his phone for calls and to listen to music and watch videos, it's disappointing.
Chose this phone over v35, g7, note 8, s9 plus, note 9. Money no object really. Ultra wide angle, great screen (2nd to Samsung), lightweight, excellent standby time, great battery life, quad dac, etc etc. People complain about selfie, but it beats the note 8 selfie I had and it is taking great snaps since ThinQ update. Highly recommend!
Dariel Montez cameras were lesser by comparison. Actually got the V35 for 499 on Amazon prime day. Tested side by side, cameras were a step back. Something was wrong with processing. Detail fall off / over saturation, etc. V35 or g7 cannot switch cameras while recording like g6 and v30 can. That is huge for me while filming kids and animals running around. Oh and the screen on v35 was lesser white balance Calibration.
Dariel Montez the battery life took a hit with the newer processor in the V35 as well. The SD845 is either battery hungry or hasn't been optimized yet.
For under $300 this is AMAZING I mean you will not find a phone with these specs for that price. SD 835, Adreno 540, 6" 2880x1440 OLED display with Dolby Vision and HDR10, 4gb ram, quad hifi dac, dual wide angle lens (16/13mp) quick charge 3.0 and fast wireless charging, 3300mah battery that lasts all day and night even with heavy use, ip68 water and dust resistance, Android oreo which will be updated to Android pie next year. No one can show me a phone for this price with even half of these specs, except maybe the G6 but that has older hardware and a worse camera and display.
I love my V30, it's what the Pixel 2 XL should have been. Our previous Samsung Note 5's wireless charging required multiple replacements. Also, my Sennheiser 600 series headphones with the dedicated DAC sounds as good as my expensive DAP. Also I love the wide-angle lens! Next year, 2019, who knows, but until then I'm happy with my choice.
It's a real good deal under 400 $...great build, 32 bit quad dac, quad screen, IP68 and 835 and manual video capabilities makes it a best choice for who dont care about stock android and great camera
The HD Channel - Vlogs, Reviews & Stuff hi bro thank god i found you,im an android expert (or just good) like you (i know about everything that's in XDA) is the phone still worth it in 2018? Im thinking to buy one for my mother,in terms of battery, performance, audio and Google camera compatibility. Thanks in advance =)
NightMarionette FNaFovaure Definitely Bro, flagship phones have got to the point where year on year, theres not a really big jump in technological advances now. Because LG's are usually very under rated there prices drop pretty quickly. So definitely recommend and lots of bang for your buck. Happy in 2018 with my LG V30+ 😎👍
I think even the LG V20 is still worth it. I picked mine up a couple months ago for under $200. That model still has a user replaceable battery, which is pretty much unheard of. Love the wide angle camera too. The 821 chip in it does show its age, but it's fine for everyday use.
I was lucky to be able to get a like new version of this phone for around $370 on eBay about 4 months ago... And it WAS like new too. Zero visible damage and perfect performance. Have not regretted my decision at all.
I have an LG V30 and my camera out performs alot of phones. Especially IPHONES. Use the best features lf the phones camera app amd you see what i mean. I use the mamule mode often to produce the good pictures i share and post. And when i really want to take my time and edit a picture...ill use the raw dmg in my photo editor kn my computer. And it definitely out performs alot of camera's in terms of video. Obviously its not that great in low light...but when you use the raw file, you can grade and denoise it pretty well and the file holds up. In good light situations...its a beast. But of course this is opinion based on my realworld experience. I have enven used the footage as B roll for a dvd project i recently recorded. I have not had any complaints yet on the quality of the work yet. // Now some negs would be that the MP4 raw files do not play inside my video edit software (vegas pro 14) without first grading and converting with Divinci Resolve first. I does play in Premier Pro and FCPX without that extra step. Other than that...this video aligns with my overall opion of the LG V30.
Great video review Nick, thank you for making this reviews. The V30 is an amazing 📱 & actually I took advantage of a bogo promotion of buying one get one free. I'm happy, this phone does everything I need especially those wide angle photos are awesome!
Watching this on an LG V30 rn. It's still a great phone. Definitely comparable to all the flagships today, but with budget phone pricing. I love it. LG deserves a lot more credit.
About the software: I don't understand why reviewers always point that out as a negative. That's the beauty of android that you are not bound by software! My v30 with nova launcher and pixel live wallpaper looks and feels like a pixel phone.
Watching dis on my LG V30+tinQ ..had it for 9 Months now ..i still get a day + on the battery and i am a heavy user .. Watching youtube all day playing clash royal ..whatsapp an Instagram all day BT with my JVC ..and no disappointment from me ..i also swim with my phone alot .no water damage ..i have drop it a couple of times and no cracks on the back or front .very durable
After closed to 9 months I'm still very fond of this phone. The audio quality is absolutely amazing. HD audio recording is simply the best in class. And that wide angle lens is very useful and has impressed a lot of people that i showed it to. Don't have any reason to change to other flagship phones. So far.
V30 is still the best all-around creator when it comes to video and photos. I shoot all my vlogs with V30 between 4k and 1080. WHAT OTHER PHONE ALLOWS YOU TO shoot in LOG ???!?!?!?!?! Great overview. Lovethis video. Keep it up !!!
I have the lg v30 but im experiencing difficulties with voice notes on whats app. I tried literally everything. I even changed the entire phone (warantee) but the problem stayed!!! The problem is when im recording a voice note and there is background noise the quality of the voice note becomes so bad u can barely understand whats being said. Do u have this problem? I wanna know if its a software problems cuz i sent my phone twice now to be fix but they returned it saying there is no problem at all. Keep in mind that when i record an audio using hd recorder there is no problem at all.
I had the V10 then V20 and now V30. LG got my business after Samsung sealed their phones with no battery swaps. I go to many concerts and the receiver as mic feature is excellent. It's the only phone I've ever had that has no bass distortion while recording very loud music and not only that, the sound and low end frequency recording is amazing. The only thing I wish it had was 4k60fps video. To be entirely honest there are times when my phone lags and the camera won't launch quickly. This is more so when the phone is warm. It must be also said that the front facing camera is not great at all either.
I was going to buy this phone until my friend told me about the v35 which I didn't even know existed. Now I'm a proud owner of a v35 and I couldn't be more happy about it
EXCELLENT for the games I play on it. Using excuses like waterproofing, manufacturers have locked power users into unnecessary 1yr replacement cycles based on battery life. Removable batteries are the #1 feature for a power user and not available anywhere now. Paying 1k for a phone that's dead in a year is absurd.
Water resistance (a la IP67/68) isn't an excuse, it's a very desirable feature especially for anyone who does outdoor activities such as running/biking. My LGG6 is more than a year old and has not shown signs of needing a battery replacement. This phone cost no where near $1000. In my previous LGV10 it needed a removable battery and I thought I would have a tough time coping without one but now I don't even think about it.
)) Stil?? Super fast?? Are you kidding me?? I'm STILL happy with my V10, 2015 flagship of LG! I will shift to V20 once the price hit 150$ Best VALUE FOR THE LESS $ Grab a new battery and you're good to go! it's kinda hard to do it with new phones such as V30 if you consider to get it used one.
Watching on my v30 plus... So happy made this choice, wide angle is the bestpart and solid built... Only minor downside for me is battery life as i am a heavy user..
Picked it up brand new recently for less than 500€ and it's a great phone, you can't go wrong with it. In weeks of usage, I haven't noticed any issues or drawbacks apart nit picking, it's a complete phone with great value, definitely recommended and definitely underrated.
It's a great thing that you mention bout the call quality, since it's the main reason a smart device called a smart "phone". Many reviewers skip this function on their videos and take it for granted that it would not be disapointing (well, some would). Nice video, 1 like coming up
Tech Twon B I must agree people just like the fat to know that they have two speakers and stuff like that yes you can get a very loud one speaker people just want to know that they have more just like when people hear three or four cameras they think it's automatically better
Upgrading from my amazing V10 now. The V10 has been the best phone I ever bought so hopefully the V30 will be as good. I am only replacing as I just cracked the screen, otherwise v10 still working great with few glitches.
Im still on my V20. The V30, G7 and V40 are all plastic looking and feeling. No ram upgrades, smaller batteries. The displays are narrower and taller, dont like that. I just checked out the OnePlus 6T and it looks just like the G7. Thin and tall display. The terrible notch. If I could get a V20 with 8GB ram, 256 storage and 3500+ battery, Snap 865 processor, Id have a phone for life.
I'm on Verizon, alot depends on when you get the update. AT&T, LG, testing, etc. I don't think you should be saying LG is the problem. I've had LG phones for 8 years and they're updates are not a problem. Verizon is my carrier
Good video. I love LG phones, products. I started with the LG G series, then went to the LG V10. After not getting updates quickly and bored with Android, I switched to the iPhone SE first to get familiar with Apple iOS. It felt really different but good, then I went to the iPhone 8+ which I absolutely love. Although, I no longer have an Android phone, LG will always hold a special place in my heart. LG makes very good products in my opinion.
Thanks for the video... I now use a V10, which I loved before it bootlooped, but the thing I love about this V series is the manual camera controls! What phone would you say has the best camera with manual controls?
How do you trust a used phone? How do you know it hasn't been damaged internally or if it's having software issues. I desperately need a new phone but can't afford more than $400, and all I find is used phones in that price range which seems like an awful lot of money since the phone is used and how do I know what condition the phone is in.
Just got this phone a couple weeks ago....it's a great phone..... manual camera options are amazing....got a Google camera mod and works well... battery life is dam good too ... running Oreo out of the box
Watching this review on my 8 months old LG V30+😉 In India, people try to go for Samsung as a brand user, but got lucky to get this LG at far better price and the phone is working like a new phone even today. While my Samsung I couldn't last even 6 months on both S6 edge and S7 edge with many software issues and specially fingerprint issues, pledged not to go for Samsung again as needless to talk about service is very pathetic.
I want this soooooo bad!! I'm waiting till mid fall to see if the price goes down after new phones go on shelves. Hopefully Freedom Mobile brings the price down because I'm way to poor to afford a flagship phone.
Have owned 4 LG phones over the last 4 years (G4, G5, V20 and V30). This has to be my favorite, though I was not happy with the omission of removable batteries; in the end that didn't matter since the V20 is a champ in battery optimization. 10 months in and I still average 18 hours with good use. The weight is amazing for a bigger phone, I owned the Note 8 for a month and it was just too heavy and hard to handle. Yes the stock UI is not the prettiest to look at. But it's lightweight and adding Nova Launcher and a theme for the menus solved a whole lot of ugliness while keeping the fluidity. The camera is great if you know what you are doing in manual mode, if you don't download GCam and shoot away. Front cam is horrid no matter what. I'm picking up the V35 from Amazon and skipping the V40. The V35 has the features that LG missed, more RAM and front cam with SD 845 chip and not having the 'feature' LG should cancel on the V40: the friggin notch. Excellent video, I am glad you see this phone for what it is; a silent powerhouse of a phone.
I gotta say, coming from an Samsung s7 to the v30+, I'm somewhat disappointed. A lot of the features the s7 had (a three year old phone) are gone. Also RAM allocation sucks. I get chugging and slowdown when I have several apps open. Something that wasn't an issue on the s7.
V30 is my favorite phone since thev LG G2. I wish they would bring out an upgraded version of that phone. You could switch colors on the led notification light. That notification light around the power button on the back of the phone.
I got the LG V30 after a dropped my note 5 and broke the screen. FUBAR. The problems I have with the LG V30 is when making a phone call and needing to make the call screen go away to look at a text, I have a hard time getting the call screen back up. The screen also seems to have gotten less sensitive to touch as when I tap it to have the screen come up or to swipe it I have to put more pressure on it. Love the screen size. That's Why I got it instead of the Galaxy 8 ( that was out at the time ).
Thanks for this video! If I want to vlog using the V30's (superior) rear-facing camera, how do I make sure I'm centered in the camera? (Since I won't be able to see the screen?)
Question Moto z 3 or The v30 pretty tuff call it's been a long time since i had a LG modular phones are getting tiresome but i just can't make my mind up right now!
I,m still not a fanboy of chinese Smartphones like Oppo, Xiaomi, Huawei even if they are technically up to date. Yet I rely more on other manufacturers like LG, Bullit ( CATphones, Land Rover Explore), Kyocera, Asus, propably Google. My last LG smartphone was the BL40 chocolate, but I really like the LG V30 very much... it's IP68, it's got nice b&o headphones and a nice camera on board...It will be a nice buy if it get's the update for Oreo...
got it through TMO in January, paying through payments, kinda screwed up I'm paying 800 for it lol (probably because it was newer) ...but I still really like the phone, even at that price, but for 400, amazing phone
....weird because I also have T-Mobile. Idk it might because I got my the day before the big promotion for the phone ended. The Buy one get one/ buy another LG product and get up to $400 off that product. I wanted to get a LG tv however I didn't and only paid a little over $600. Sorry to hear that you paid so much.
Tom Petty me too lol, but still, as I said in my initial comment, even with the price point, I'm really satisfied with the phone, unfortunately I paid a lot, but doesn't influence my opinion for paying $800. Probably would be even better if I didn't obviously lol
There are a lot of brand new ones on ebay for $270-290 so I recommend you to get one of those, the problem with used ones is screen burning and visible scratches in display, also the lack of ip68 due to repairs that put them in "refurbished" condition, sellers themselves tell you that the phone is no longer water resistant, still a great choice in 2019 for a 2017 Q4 flagship smartphone paying the price of a budget one.
These are killer phones, I bought mine and my mother's new 5 month ago $300 is a still the finger print scanner is the on and off button people you can't go wrong.....
I was worrying about the camera glass scratches usually LG phones get. Is it the same case for v30 also? If anybody knows or have experience, please let me know. I wish they improved the camera glass for this.
Is the LG V30 Still Worth It? In this video I explain to you why I feel this phone is still worth it especially considering the massive price drop!
Worth it ,,
How about the Oneplus 5T?
Yes it still worth it to get it's a nice phone V30
Nick Ackerman perfect balance of height and width. Not liking the tall skinny trend.

Got my LG when it was new along with LG earphones & google new VR..
Love it...
Not a I phone fan
$137 refurbished on Amazon. Still an incredible phone in December 2019!!!
I just saw a speed comparison where the LG V30 "mops the floor" with GALAXY S9
So it's definitely worth it!!!
Wait really
@@Jason74357 I think he's talking about Tech Trinkets video and yes, v30 is is still smooth af.
After closed to 9 months I'm still very fond of this phone. The audio quality is absolutely amazing. HD audio recording is simply the best in class. And that wide angle lens is very useful and has impressed a lot of people that i showed it to. Don't have any reason to change to other flagship phones. So far.
Htc10 is the soul predecessor to this: 24bit dac, great camera software, super good screen, slow software updates.
Joshua French I still have HTC 10....I agree this is the natural next phone progression if you had the HTC 10
Now I'm a proud owner of a v35 and I couldn't be more happy about it
The V20 is still worth it. Removeable battery. Last of its kind so far, such a shame.
but it has Heating issue and not good for games :'(
EXCELLENT for the games I play on it.
J C my v20 is slow asf 😂
bLOsK_323 hmm mine is still as fast as it always was
Just bought back my old v30 have missed that camera the screen is great and battery life is good too
I currently own the V30+. If you can find a V30 for 400 or less, buy it immediately. It's a great buy!
I bought my husband one as an early Christmas gift for $250 on eBay.
Watching this on my v30 and it's still running like a champ not a single issue.
It's a great thing that you mention bout the call quality, since it's the main reason a smart device called a smart "phone". Many reviewers skip this function on their videos and take it for granted that it would not be disapointing (well, some would). Nice video, 1 like coming up
What the hell you talking about the speakers is loud the speakers is real loud nice and loud how loud do you want the speakers
Tech Twon B I must agree people just like the fat to know that they have two speakers and stuff like that yes you can get a very loud one speaker people just want to know that they have more just like when people hear three or four cameras they think it's automatically better
They aren’t as good as the boom sound on the LG G7 ThinQ
I mean that is very true that they are not as loud as the Boombox speakers on the LG G7 but you also have to realize that the LG G7 is a newer device
Tech Twon B no. Its not. Now the g7 speakers are loud
@@sophanstadt382 oh ok I don't have the LG G7 phone so I don't know I just have the LG V30
I love my V30. I got it a few months ago for $400 and I have no intention on upgrading for at least 2 more years
Upgrading from my amazing V10 now. The V10 has been the best phone I ever bought so hopefully the V30 will be as good. I am only replacing as I just cracked the screen, otherwise v10 still working great with few glitches.
I'm using the LG V30 as my main phone right now!
I feel you. Except I'd like a 6" plus screen cos I watch sports on my phone
I own it. I bought it new. I plan to keep it forever, or until it quits running!
This guy had a real positive feedback on LG, new subscriber
I'm on Verizon, alot depends on when you get the update. AT&T, LG, testing, etc. I don't think you should be saying LG is the problem. I've had LG phones for 8 years and they're updates are not a problem. Verizon is my carrier
i can't imagine the life without your videos man
Much love glad you find them enjoyable
The lg v30 in my opinion
LeeForLife s
How do you trust a used phone? How do you know it hasn't been damaged internally or if it's having software issues. I desperately need a new phone but can't afford more than $400, and all I find is used phones in that price range which seems like an awful lot of money since the phone is used and how do I know what condition the phone is in.
thanks as always for the LG love on a LG G8 now
I'm watching this video on my LG V30+. IS A GREAT PHONE WITH AWESOME BATTERY LIFE. LET'S NOT FORGET THE QUAD DAC
Just got this phone a couple weeks ago....it's a great phone..... manual camera options are amazing....got a Google camera mod and works well... battery life is dam good too ... running Oreo out of the box
is there any skin/display distortion at 5:26 while using the floating bar ??
Such a crazy steal at that price, regardless of price though this LG is making me strongly consider ditching the iPhone and apple watch
Love my v30 had it for almost a full year love it
Eleven mounts and still getting one day of use on my V30
Watching this review on my 8 months old LG V30+😉
In India, people try to go for Samsung as a brand user, but got lucky to get this LG at far better price and the phone is working like a new phone even today.
Love this beautiful phone and still running strong in 2019👍👏.
In 2020 looking to pick up a LG v30 or g7. Which one would you choose and why? Thanks!
Pick a G7
My personal V30+ actually doesnt show anywhere near as much blue shift as yours does.
V30 is my favorite phone since thev LG G2. I wish they would bring out an upgraded version of that phone. You could switch colors on the led notification light. That notification light around the power button on the back of the phone.
Just found your channel, excellent review! Gr8 video
Changed from v30 to the razer phone. Never looked back since they fixed the cameras.
Awesome video as always man, new fan here, binged watched all your videos. How about a small g7 vs v30 video? The have lots of similarities!
The biggest hidden gem. The v35 is a seven bigger beast.
Loved my V10 I had for 2,5 years. Bought it for 100 euro.
Trying to find the V30 or V20 for a decent price atm.
Watching with my v30+.it's still ok to me
Thanks for this video! If I want to vlog using the V30's (superior) rear-facing camera, how do I make sure I'm centered in the camera? (Since I won't be able to see the screen?)
If you calibrate the white balance on the screen it really minimizes the blue shift.
No swappable battery? byby I'm still using my LG V-10 and its awesome!
Question Moto z 3 or The v30 pretty tuff call it's been a long time since i had a LG modular phones are getting tiresome but i just can't make my mind up right now!
Just bought the LG v30+ 128gb for $260 on Ebay. Pregame15 for 15% off today only.
Great job on your review man ! Moto Z 3 or LG V30 I plan on upgrading
Proud owner of LG G5, LG V20 and now LG V30+, waiting for LG V40+
Buy the v35
You need headphones with a high impedance over 30 Ω Have these & the V30 is the best audio experience on any smartphone ever. Period
I want it man. For me it is still worth especially for it's camera for my movie making
Yes i was waiting for this
G7 mint condition for 2700 or brand new V30s for 309€, which to choose?
Nice video Nick ..🔥i didn't know lg was a decent phone 😮🤔
got it through TMO in January, paying through payments, kinda screwed up I'm paying 800 for it lol (probably because it was newer) ...but I still really like the phone, even at that price, but for 400, amazing phone
wow seriously i got mine in dec and paid a little over $600.
Tom Petty must be some bullshit with T-Mobile, rip
....weird because I also have T-Mobile.
Buy second hand in 2019,, worth it??
There are a lot of brand new ones on ebay for $270-290 so I recommend you to get one of those, the problem with used ones is screen burning and visible scratches in display, also the lack of ip68 due to repairs that put them in "refurbished" condition, sellers themselves tell you that the phone is no longer water resistant, still a great choice in 2019 for a 2017 Q4 flagship smartphone paying the price of a budget one.
You can actually answer through notification your sms. Audio on jack is dope. With Power amp app and good headphone you are in heaven
These are killer phones, I bought mine and my mother's new 5 month ago $300 is a still the finger print scanner is the on and off button people you can't go wrong.....
Watching on my LG v35 thinQ 😊
I was worrying about the camera glass scratches usually LG phones get. Is it the same case for v30 also? If anybody knows or have experience, please let me know. I wish they improved the camera glass for this.
Just purchased mint for 135
Yes it's worth it! Especially now it's so cheap. I paid $140
