Hey y'all! Lots I wasn't able to cover in this review due to timing, etc. BUT if you have followup V30 questions that I didn't get to in the video, reply to this comment! I'll be hanging out for about an hour after upload and I'll answer what questions I can. EDIT: Hey that was fun! Will duck back in as I can but thanks for all the questions. Also: weird how UA-cam can't figure out something as simple as threaded replies, innit?
MrMobile [Michael Fisher] another great video dude! The point zoom feature is the killer for this phone for me. Hoping others can... Aquire it soon lol. That selfie cam is disappointing though.
People used to have issues with that glass in the v20 that covered the dual lenses like being fragile and cracking is it a problem on the v30 side of things?
I can understand you man. Iam one of the guys who bought a flagship phone thinking that great audio will be pretty much granted and i was wrong. I don't understand why some companies doesn't put decent audio hardware in their flagships.
Shawn Orjiakor - Damn 3.5 is slowly fading into the night... Nasty part is that the existing digital codecs aren't refined enough to fully duplicate and therefore completely replace the high-quality analog sound you still can get with a good pair of standard wired headphone cans or buds, but that is where the manufacturers are going, regardless... There's even talk now of Samsung, especially after the acquisition of Harman-Kardon/AKG early in 2017 - possibly ditching the jack as early as the Note 9... Ready or not, 3.5's are going to be a thing of the past soon!
Dan Gage - The LG V30 should've taken a page from the HTC 10's book and provided at least an OIS selfie - especially for a cinematographer / video enthusiast inspired device that the V30 is... Hell, HTC should've carried that over on their own U11!
Dan Gage - True, but to obtain an "Everything Under the Sun" handset nowadays, with all angles covered - might run you as much as $1500, I fear... Asking prices are getting ridiculous for "primos" as it is!
Thank you for another phenomenal review! The main reason you're my favorite tech reviewer is how skilled you are in writing. I just love listening to the reviews of new tech, and I'm greatful for your skillful and comprehensive script writing.
Was feeling stressed out, feeling calm after watching your video. Your videos are so amazing that I watch reviews of phones /gadgets that I know are too expensive or not available. Love your videos!❤️
Sometimes one gets so lost amidst the eloquent and flent delivery of your talk that one has to watch the video all over again... This time just to focus on the video content now... 4 years of following you... Amazing bro
Nice review. Got my V30 2 weeks ago, upgraded from HTC 10 due to an unfortunate drop. I'm happy with the V30 so far but did notice the shutter lag when shooting in RAW. I'm glad I'm not the only one, I didn't read much about camera app performance on other reviews.
I wouldve went for U11 though. Htc phones are super stable even after a longer period of usage i never saw that in any other android phones except oneplus and pixels
Vincent Cardona is the screen as dreadful as they say? Is it that bad under low light? I'd prefer to wait for an Anandtech review, but that could be out maybe even next year...
Robert Markoš The screen does have the drawbacks that have been documented in other reviews. Viewing angles are poor when it comes to white balance. And shadows do lose detail in low light. However I watch a lot of media on my device and I still enjoy it, All things considered I think it's a nice-looking screen. Not a deal-breaker for me.
Vincent Cardona How is it getting used to a single speaker? I have a HTC 10 as well. And I worry it'd be hard to go back at this point. Having sound coming toward you from left and right feels proper to my ears. Is it manageable? Is it louder than the 10 at least? That's something this phone just isn't.
I think the google pixel 2 xl and the iphone 8 plus have the best speakers now from all smartphones (and the zte axon 7 but it`s not as "highend" as the other 2 phones)
I appreciate that you always mention call quality in your reviews. It's, ironically, an overlooked aspect of phones these days. Most reviews don't cover them!
Yet another on point review MR MOBILE always reccomend customers come watch your reviews as I work in a phoneshop and can't wait to see your mate 10 pro review . Feels like the mate 10 pro review is ages away though
sean oliver some early reviews are out on the mate 10 and mate 10 pro..but keep in mind it's on an unpolished UI..but so far it's been underwhelming tho
sean oliver the camera on the mate 10 is made by Leica..so no surprise that it's rated highly..but my concerns are the battery life and the puzzling differences of the mate 10 and pro variant
My subscription to PocketNow left with Mr. Mobile and ended up on his channel immediately. His videos are simply the best and I am constantly left scratching my head as to why he's not up to a million subscribers yet. This was another EXCELLENT review Michael
I think the problem with the front facing camera is the physical space. It is very difficult to put a big camera sensor and large lens aperture in this limited space on the top bezel...
Honestly I think that the LG V30 is one of the best Android phones, if not the best. I used the Note 8 for awhile, but it is pretty heavy and the battery never got me through a whole day. The LG V30 battery keeps on surprising me as it's holding out through the day with incredible Screen on time. The video that this phone can do is amazing. One thing you didn't mention was the Haptic feedback and how good it is!
ARGGGGHHHH you're so right; I forgot to mention that. The haptics kick ass. I especially like how you get a little haptic "buzz" when the camera gets focus on a subject.
I loved your video, great editing, nice and crisp vid ,you also touched the v30's cons and also adding the pros at the correct timings. I was shocked to see your low subscribers count!! Great video quality with so much hard work , you put in your vids...you deserve at least 2M or more . Anyways keep up the great work! 👍👍BTW could you please recommend a good phone around $154 .my priorities are good battery life, a headphone Jack, good performance , good camera and a reputed brand. 😊
Diganta Sanyal Well I'm just another random but I do recommend the Moto E4 in that price range, specifically the E4 Plus with class leading battery. The camera isn't amazing but still very good for the price range. I've used the phone as a backup to my HTC 10 and it actually is really good!
Diganta Sanyal the cheaper version of the Moto g5 is about that price. Decent camera, fingerprint scanner, good battery which is removable. Overall a good phone at a cheaper price
Michael Fisher's way of "begging" for likes is so much more pleasant than most UA-camrs. Instead of saying "smash that subscribe button" or something similar, he says "feel free to hit that subscribe button. I'd love to have you". This personality is why I've stayed subscribed since the beginning. Keep up the great work!
This phone might have issues and probably will not sell much, but massive respect for LG for creating it. Its a perfect phone with a great price, unlike others getting rid of essential features for no good reason.
Glad that we have your separate channel on UA-cam. The kind of content and professional finishing your videos have is almost unparalleled. Not sure who is hyped and made "the best tech UA-camr" but you are still the best out there! (Specially appreciate those 60fps options :D)
The location of the volume rocker, a non removable battery, the second screen removed and the freaking ir blaster gone is a deal breaker. Loved that in the v10 and v20.
MrMobile [Michael Fisher] waw look what happened. When i plugged in my headphones the echo was gone. Actually i openned the Samsung Music player and found out the concert hall feature was turned on. Isnt it weird that the changes you make to the samsung music player translates to youtube? Anyway that was it..
You make extremely high quality videos, even more polished than MKBHD's, if you ask me. Even the scripts for your videos are amazing. It's only a matter of time before you're one of the biggest tech UA-camrs.
v30 is worlds best phone, it is my dream phone, people overestimated the Apple and Samsung Phones but really speaking, if you want a pure technology, go for LG V30, you will get more something than Apple and Samsung.
Sometimes stock android is not just for everyone. I'm currently use stock android, but I do miss the features and tweaks added by OEM. Liked Samsung UX has been better alot
stock android is more for better performance and cleaner looks. in features samsung phones just kills it. actually i use a lot of samsung exclusive features a lot, i do sacrifice a bit of performance but at the end of the day those features are very useful for me.
Vintagehorizonsss Tv doubt it. Given LG's propensity towards reaching the goal line and just not making it, I predict it will have a flaw. But I agree on that the V30 is probably their best so far.
Robert Markoš all they really have to do is: Improve the front camera (8 mp) Add the google pixels portrait magic Make the wide camera 16 mp f 1.6 with ois Add more cinevideo filters Add an ir blaster Presto it's perfect
That is if we ever see one considering all the D riding sites like the verge are apt to do with Samsung and Apple devices. This is one of the only youtubers that championed the G6 and now the V30. I encourage people to vote with their funds and utilize that 14 day return period or whatever to find the device that is right for them instead of the one with the bigger marketing budget.
It's still a great phone in mid 2018! Got it few weeks ago and couldn't be happier. The only drawback I've found on this phone is a front camera which is not terrible but a noticable step back from competitors. Of course, you can use your back camera for selfies, since you kinda see yourself on the back glass but that's compromising. Other than that, it's brilliant, definitely recommended for everyone that like taking photos and listening music a lot on their phone.
Glad i made a right choice by buying lg v30 by checking your and android central review . It is so amazing and particularly if you neglect the selfie cam performance , it is one of the best out there in the market. P.s : True beauty of this camera is, it helps us learn how to take perfect shots with it's graphy assistant and editing videos or photos on the fly is so good with its inbuilt video and photo editors . Thanks for the review
It's fine *to me.* People who say the display should be better on an $800 phone have a legitimate point. But personally speaking, I can't detect many problems, and the one I can see (off-axis blue shift when tilting) I don't find a big enough deal to make a huge fuss over. YMMV.
MrMobile [Michael Fisher] thank you for this!! Can't wait for your full review on the new Pixels. I was really worried about the display on the Pixel 2!!
MrMobile [Michael Fisher] i think people are making huge deal about the display on the Pixel 2 XL without even looking at it in real life, if Michael Fisher thinks it's fine then it'll surely be fine for most users who'll be owning the Pixel 2
Thomas Reeve i think the issue is that Pixel 2 has a more premium price tag compared to LG V30..it should not be on par with a phone months older than it with a lower pricetag nonetheless
Just because your V30 didn't have a bad screen, doesn't mean the issue doesn't exist. There's enough proof around that it is a real issue, if its fixed with the new batches then great. I was certain I was going to get this phone but not sure now, maybe when the inevitable LG price drops happen. Are you going to do a Nokia 8 or 9 review?
LG is fixing their V30 screen starting from the November batch . Don't expect popping colours as LG v30 is tuned to Natural flat sRGB gamut meaning very plain colours just like what a true professional who is using colour grading wants for his/ her monitor display
The screen issues with this phone are regarding thr gray scale issues. After using OLED screens in Samsung phone I've come to realise that they aren't perfect. The V30 is no exception. It's a good display but not perfect.
Front facing camera is good for video calls (and Snapchat, Instagram stories for others), which are becoming more of a thing lately. That front facing camera video is really that from a low-budget $250 phone. Really bad.
I agree that the floating bar is pretty useless with the phone unlocked, but the always on display has the buttons available to press as well. I haven't really used the v20, but my understanding is that was the purpose of the secondary display and I think the always on display has similar functionality on the v30.
A for a Amazing reviews, love all the separation parts, very in deep review & really touch all the point of the V30, We are bless to have you sir! Seriously thank you so much. :) now if only i can get a hold of a V30 for myself & also review it, ill be in heaven. :D
Just got the phone 2 hours ago, opened youtube while my apps download in the background. Couldnt be happier to see me mobiles lg V30 review as the first sughested video. After reading the Verge's review and many others having issues with the greyscale on the phone I am relieved to see that my V30 does not have the banding issues present. It feels better in the hand than a note 8. I think I'm going to enjoy the phone. But I agree with the video. LG's software is horrendous. The first thing I always do is Nova Launcher Prime along with a dark theme on LG phones
Cool review, the quality of your videos is great, even for an iOS geek like me watching android tech evolve through your reviews is entertaining. Keep up the good work.
...With iPhone, HTC, all iterations of the Moto Z/Z2, Essential, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, and now (snicker) the Pixel 2/2XL all ditching the 3.5, the V30 now goes unchallenged with the dedicated DAC/headphone amp audiophile candy...There is still the ZTE Axon 7 and that one Marshall Amp branded handset to contend with, but with both those units, I hear that some music creation, music player, and music/video streaming apps default to the integrated DAC within the SoC, whereas the V30 has all the angles covered, with everything you want all going to and coming from out of the jack... The LG-made POLED display has a few issues (Hopefully, there will be a software update that remedies that), the selfie cam could've used a little improvement for such a video-inspired device, (Like you said - Also, admit it...I can clearly see that you got a bit spoiled with the OIS on the HTC 10's selfie - "cough, cough!"), and thanks to Zack's (JerryRig) durability vid, the fingerprint scanner on the V30 may not work if scratched up too much (Use of a good rugged case that puts a little height between the scanner and whatever surface the handset sits upon will fix that as well)... Overall though, I'd say the V30 is still the power user's choice for all that it can do...
N O L A N M I L N E S How is the audio quality with the Quad DAC. I am leaning towards a LG phone as my next just because audio quality is paramount for me and the DAC and Amp on my Nokia 8 is well bad.
Hey y'all! Lots I wasn't able to cover in this review due to timing, etc. BUT if you have followup V30 questions that I didn't get to in the video, reply to this comment! I'll be hanging out for about an hour after upload and I'll answer what questions I can.

MrMobile [Michael Fisher] Does it record 4k at 60 fps
When using the lg v30 as a ranged weapon about how many would you need to fend off a 3 rabid racoons? Please answer quick, this is of high importance!
MrMobile [Michael Fisher] another great video dude! The point zoom feature is the killer for this phone for me. Hoping others can... Aquire it soon lol. That selfie cam is disappointing though.
Is the software a deal breaker ? What about 8.0 update ? I have always used stock Android , so this looks horrible to me.
People used to have issues with that glass in the v20 that covered the dual lenses like being fragile and cracking is it a problem on the v30 side of things?
The review that made me buy the V30... It's on its last legs now but I enjoyed every second of it. Thank you, Michael :)
nice
V30 is a audiophile's dream as well. It's too hard to pick a phone these days.
I can understand you man. Iam one of the guys who bought a flagship phone thinking that great audio will be pretty much granted and i was wrong. I don't understand why some companies doesn't put decent audio hardware in their flagships.
Nuwl can't be an audiophile's dream without a headphone jack.
needs a removable battery since cans drain it dry fast. so for a good dap its good but its not "the best" its in the middle
Shawn Orjiakor - Damn 3.5 is slowly fading into the night... Mr Valenzuela lol I understand

The V30 selfie cam... Is still better than the Essential dual Camera lol
Dan Gage lol was it that bad?
Yeah, they tried to polish it a few times with updates.... But in the end, it was a shiny turd
Dan Gage - The LG V30 should've taken a page from the HTC 10's book and provided at least an OIS selfie - especially for a cinematographer / video enthusiast inspired device that the V30 is... Hell, HTC should've carried that over on their own U11!
Crazcompart I'd rather them have stuck ois on the wide angle cam to be honest
Dan Gage - True, but to obtain an "Everything Under the Sun" handset nowadays, with all angles covered - might run you as much as $1500, I fear... Asking prices are getting ridiculous for "primos" as it is!

I love the way how tell a compelling story in your reviews.. it’s more like a movie, a short one though with as much info in a crisp video.. 👌🏼👍🏼

samsung put 8mp front camera..whats the excuses😂
adidaslover Norman lg v30 top and bottom bezels are slimmer than that of the samsung s8
Actually in asia girls actually don't want to have crystal clear selfies... The more blur the better

Lg v40 will probably be perfect all around
Vintagehorizonsss Tv doubt it. Given LG's propensity towards reaching the goal line and just not making it, I predict it will have a flaw. But I agree on that the V30 is probably their best so far.
Naw, they'll probably remove the headphone jack by then, just like everyone else ...sigh
sunny eclectech if they keep the hifi dac & include really good usb-c hifi earphones it's not too bad :)
Robert Markoš all they really have to do is:
Improve the front camera (8 mp)
Add the google pixels portrait magic
Make the wide camera 16 mp f 1.6 with ois
Add more cinevideo filters
Add an ir blaster
Presto it's perfect

Other than that, it's brilliant, definitely recommended for everyone that like taking photos and listening music a lot on their phone.
Awesome camera ever by LG
Vaibhav Gade aside from sharpening, lg is preferable over samsung for the price
Vaibhav Gade I was blown away by the G6's cameras! wonder how much they've improved with V30
The selfie cam is pretty bad
GRAMMAR
The front camera on this phone is awful.
So glad to see someone appreciating this phone. It's so underrated. LG needs to step up on their marketing game.
**LG makes 2 great phones G6 and V30**
2019
**LG makes phones no one asked for**
Lg made some sleepers this year. The v50 is a monster.
The way you talk is soothing i love it
Daniel Robinho of Windows central say cheese ...
Don't go chasing waterfalls!
YES YES YES! Thank you Michael, for this great review! Been looking forward to this!
Don't go chasing waterfalls, Michael. Stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used to.
dude you and mkbhd are the best mobile phone reviewers imo :D awesome video man!
The V30 is perfect for me, EXCEPT LG is very bad at keeping up with software updates.
Justin Benn Not outside the US.
Not worse than lenovo
Please never stop making such videos!
Michael Fisher said the display on the V30 is fine, that means the Pixel 2 XL's display is also fine!
RMNSTD too bad the hardware is shit tho
Michael youre still the no.1 reviewer i know
Kudos love the review you made
If only lg software was like stock
Badr Beyari nova launcher dude
OxionG I know but I meant into the actual software like the setting or dialer
Thanks for this great info. I just ordered the v30+ I'm waiting for it to be delivered next week.
Finally
Mr. Mobile you did it again! Love your reviews and this one was amazing. Thank you very much.
I picked LG v30 instead of note 8 and I'm happy with it
Always delivers the best reviews!
Harpreet06 I see your point. However I haven't had any screen issues. Lucky me I guess 🤷♀️
Had mine since 1st Nov. Perfect screen. I think there has been a dirty tricks campaign going on to smear it..
ersway Mine isn't perfect but I don't notice most of the issues in day to day use. I have to go out of my way to find the display issues my phone has.
In addition to the awesome phone, your fantastic way of presentation has added more light to consumers, thanks a lot......
LG: Life's Good
Me: Life sucks so much😖🔫
Came across your channel randomly. Loved your review. Subscribed!
Downvote for LG v30 poor front camera choice. 5mp in 2017 is UNACCEPTABLE.
braintrain5000 meh, what a you a beauty youtuber girl? Use the rear camera, back of the phone is a mirror anyway
Must into the selfie game hard
Use rear wide angle camera for selfies. The front camera isn't bad as you think
Maybe he is like the girl from the google pixel commercials that has to selfie every .29274 seconds
IP68 and a headphone jack. Don't have both, I'm not interested in your flagship. Thank you, LG
mo101epic "Thank you, LG"
mo101epic lol what do you think "thank you LG" means man?
Your channel is one of the best tech channels on youtube
You're the most honest tech reviewer imo
Keep it up👍
Another top review!! Congrats man!
Great review as always Mr. Mobile👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Mr Mobile easily the best tech review videos out there right now. I enjoy watching them!
I can't wait to buy this phone! 835 + Quad DAC
Guess what. I bought it yesterday! lol
N O L A N M I L N E S How is the audio quality with the Quad DAC. I am leaning towards a LG phone as my next just because audio quality is paramount for me and the DAC and Amp on my Nokia 8 is well bad.
Nice full review, I wonder if maybe an accessory will be able to bring that rear camera as front facing cameras
Watching this on one I got just today, in fact. I'm loving it even more than I did my LG G6 and that phone is already magnificent.
Finally!!
I've been waiting for this for a month
I like reviews like this. It just shows the strengths and weaknesses and doesn't get all dumb about anything.
Finally ordered mine today, hope it comes soon!
Hey Michael! Approaching 500k bro! Amazing!
