We bought 4 pcs. for our private ambulance service here, in Romania. 2 of them are going back ... why ? ... the usb-c charging was the dumbest engineering decision ever made for a rugged device. On one device it stopped charging but on both devices the usb-c connector physically cannot sustain the harsh handling (sudden moves or bumps), you have to always be aware of its flimsiness and handle with care ... it broke. The old barrel type connector is what you need here. Such a nice product with such a big fault (in our case).

No one charges in "dirty and harsh" conditions through internal ports. For this purpose, there are docking stations and hot-swappable replacement batteries.

i have 2 two of those older version and i always use a dongle for the terminals to save them from going bad. dell sells them and all you gotta do is secure the dongle cable on the back by cables or zipties and it will save your ports!

@@vladimirlisovskiy9881 Heh exactly, they have dual hot swap batteries specifically so you can keep going without plugging things into it.

This is amazing, thank you for reviewing this unit. I'd love to see more "testing" of these in the future!

Andrew, all you can say is, WOW! I assume you cleared the drive-over, with Dell. With the world, as it is, Dell should be selling many of these units. Thanks, and I hope you enjoyed the trip to Austin.

Andrew what happened to the review of the Panasonic Toughbook 40? You had a UA-cam short up about it. Would love to see it. I think it’s awesome you review these products. There are very few UA-camrs that do. We use the Dell Rugged line in my industry and they are nice laptops. Great screens, great keyboards, plenty of ports, they don’t feel like they are going to break every time you move them. A normal laptop just wouldn’t survive very long. They are like the laptops of the old days but in a great way. And they are modernized. You should ask Dell to send you more of their line. You are filling a niche but needed corner of UA-cam.

This is an Incredible product Andrew, basically suited for on the field work due to the ruggedness of its design. I thought the quality of the front camera and mics to be excellent as well as the back camera. Amazing job as always! 👍😁

Wow incredible review! I really like these rugged laptops, defintely upgrading from my latitude 7285 - these are the only 2in1s with real laptop hinges now unfortunately. Did you enjoy your brother Patrick Bet David’s book???

Interesting product for those who it is designed for. Many users will probably attached an external wireless full size keyboard and mouse when using this at a desk. I hope Dell does not charge you for running over this with your car. Great review.

I was considering this one after the Latitude rugged laptops, until the test with the Tesla 🙂

It survived getting run over by a 5000 lb vehicle. What more can be expected?

@@andrewmarcdavid Well what I get with Dell is, that the plastic on the corners crack. Soft plastic parts just falls apart. This is what happened on several laptops. Seeing this, it made me think, if Panasonic would be a better choice...this survived the car of a friend?
I hope that you also saw 🙂 the smiley.

Don't go with a Tesla in an military environment ... Go with a tank ... Can this BS survive ? ... It's all done with 1 pas of T ... and the screen is gone! Gone in 60 seconds over ... be a Man 😂
Make a count: 2800 $ x 200.000 soldiers in the US ... this is money laundry or is BS!
