- The Ukrainian conflict exposed the US-made Abrams main battle tank, which has likely lost its reputation as an invincible armoured beast. The Russian military claimed the destruction of yet another American M1 Abrams tank and an M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle in Ukraine. The attack was carried out using high-precision 2K25 “Krasnopol artillery ammunition” and UAVs*, as per the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD). The arrival of US M1A1 Abrams tanks in Ukraine was initially hailed as a potential game-changer in the conflict. However, Russia’s large-scale use of surveillance and hunter-killer drones led to heavy casualties for Ukraine’s armoured fleets. After a mere few months in combat in Ukraine, the Abrams tanks were reportedly being withdrawn from the frontline, signalling a strategic reassessment.

Abrams can be integrated with situational awareness systems like drone detection and shootdown systems making them a beast in their own right.

Well, obviously. Tanks are going to be vulnerable when struck from above their armor belt. This tank had a gps guided bomb dropped on it. No tank is designed to be impervious to everything. They have to be able to move.
Russian tank when hit, their turret flies 100 feet into the air and the tank cooks up. Western tanks when hit, might get damaged but crews survive, turrets don't go flying up and tank doesn't cook up. Israeli tanks when hit, paint scratched, tanks continues to operate, Hams cuts the video short to not show the tanks still moving.

The Abrams tank is designed with air and intel superiority in mind, Ukraine has neither and thus the tanks are insanely vulnerable and prime targets for any system that can take them out. Wether you concentrate them in a single unit or you stagger them across the front line, it doesn't matter. Tank warfare only is beneficial when you can assert dominance in the air and in intel. You need to know not only where your targets are, but also where the counters to your precious Abrams are and deny them engagement.
It should be pointed out these arn't full abrams m1a1 etc.. they don't have the chobam armor kits so like most armor nato is sending has paper thin armor that can't stand up to Russian arms so its just a little silly to put these off as full upgrade abrams the US uses, US only exports copies of their abrams that are vastly inferior to the ones they are using for "national security reasons" because the ceramic armor is a secret technology that cannot be exported.
