  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskys has warned that Russia's latest push in Ukraine's northeast could be the 'first wave' of a wider offensive.
He has been visiting the region of Kharkiv, which sits on the border with Russia and has faced intense bombardment by Russian troops in recent weeks. Ukraine's new conscription law comes into effect today, lowering the age of conscription from 27 to 25 in a bid to boost manpower.
Exhausted troops on the frontlines are hoping for a break, and for more weapons to hold Russia back.

I saw a video where the father was pulled out of the car in front his infant daughter and wife... Not sure how much they would go and change the battle field result without proper training...

I probably be called a pro-Russian troll but Zelensky needs to alter his war aims and align Ukraine military and political strategy. If Ukraine military is on the defensive and the aim is simply to limit Russian gains it makes no sense to maintain war aims based that require complete military victory. It creates a situation were there no plausible end other than Ukrainian military collapse. Start being realistic in war aims and conscripts can see there fighting to hold the line to strengthen Ukraine in ongoing negotiations, so a conscript can see fighting for maybe six months to help Ukraine at the negotiating table not just going frontline to stay until they die or are seriously injured. What do think the latter will do for morale?

Wow, you’re a bright one. Without getting into the US keeping NATO afloat for the 30 year ‘peace dividend’ period and the rest of NATO and the EU now scrambling to rebuild their militaries in fear of Putin's Russia, the general fear has created a conundrum and a fear of a great rubicon. (your mentality is similar, and as simplistic at the mentality that now has EU militaries not only underfunded but 20 years away from effectiveness for some, if they start the rebuild today) If Putin is defeated, he may lash out with tacticals but more frightening to the West is what will happen internally with Russia. It is no doubt that there is a good chance that Putin will be taken out and the vacuum and then collapse may present the West with a weightier problem, and again considering that it is a nuclear state. If Ukraine were to lose it would embolden both China and Russia. The delay in the US Congress for major aid emboldened the Chinese and strengthened their resolve to grow even stronger ties with Russia. This is a grand balancing act and has nothing to do with your sophomoric and ridiculous opinion that it is meant to keep NATO alive. Again, the grand example of the US keeping NATO alive during the 30 year hibernation of the EU. BRICS is waiting in the wings. FIDO!

Kiev and NATO lost this war in strategic terms long ago (at Bakhmut, if not before), and there isn't going to be any big "Operation Overlord" style thing with masses of NATO army units and hundreds of NATO aircraft. At some point, some people will have to begin telling Kiev that the game is indeed over strategically - but I think by that time Elensky could already be gone....

The only thing this war is about was America been fed up that Europe was giving Russian billions for Gas and not them , That Russia was been able to refit and upgrade its military on that billions and tha Europe been NATO members, were not giving that money to America for their Military economy when they were not meeting the 2% GDP gentleman's handshake to invest in military defence , America got pissed off at Europe and took a war onto European shores to kick europe in the teeth to prove that giving money to the perceived enemy of your Alliance existence in the first place would not be tolerated, and Ukraine was the non european (EU) member, non NATO member chosen to be the proxy ground to instigate that war.

So lets start to call things what they are:
    1. The British have a vested interest in this war, because it pushes Europe down, and make their Brexit viable.
    2. The US have a vested interest in this war, because it keeps Britain and the EU in the same basket, and push their influence through NATO
    3. The Russians have a vested interest in this war, because if they dont do it now then they will face a Maidan type coup in the near future
    4. The Chinese have a vested interest in this war, because it opens them a direct land route to Europe and Africa, and their manufacturing base gets the raw materials it needs, so they cant be contained by the US Navy.
    5. Ukraine have a vested interest in this war, because theres a lot of money to grab for the elites from the aid.
    6. Poland and the Baltics have a vested interest in this war, because they want to see Russia going down in flames for historical reasons.
    7. The Czechs have a vested interest in this war, because they are the main weapons manufacturers in Europe, who sometimes find 1 million artillery shells around which is for sale.
    8. The French have a vested interest in this war, because Russian PMCs stealing their colonies.
    9. Germany have no vested interest in this war, but their politics and media is deeply infiltrated by the intelligence agents of those who do.

Europeans haven't thought through the scenarios following the collapse of Russia or Ukraine. The collapse of Russia likely triggers a Russian civil war for gaining power but the many republics are so slightly connected across the vast expense of Russia, the fighting won't be of any large scale and unlikely to spill over to Europe.
If Ukraine collapses and falls under Russia's control, Russia will use Ukraine's resources and power of many kinds (Yes, many of Soviet weapons were actually made in Ukraine; I wondered why the ship Admiral Kutznetsov was called a heavy cruiser instead of an aircraft carrier -- it's built in Ukraine) to build up its military power again and invade Europe. This has worked before after Georgia's Abkhazia and South Ossetia were won by Russia. Then it was Crimea being annexed. Then it was Donbas and Luhansk. Then it was an attempt at Kyiv. Then it was Donbas and Luhansk People's Republics being annexed. Then it was Kherson being taken. Then it was the greatest nuclear power plant in Europe being mined for destruction...
Get that yet ? What's behind all of these mishaps ? Russia, emboldened again and again by Europe's appeasement.
