    I think between Lonzo and Ben Simmons, the most likely player to play a game first is Bucks legend Eric Bledsoe.

    i think what you do habitually plays a big role. lonzo was always pushed to train hard since he was young which probably increased the chances that he becomes injury prone. look at wemby, so far, he has not had any major injuries since according to what i saw before the draft, he was always doing mobility exercises and yoga which helps his movements.

    • @whatslaps
      @whatslaps  3 місяці тому +1

      Absolutely, I think there's also the habits players develop on the court. the way they move, the type of plays they choose to go for or not go for. It all plays into developing a routine and process for smarter basketball.

    im a bigger soccer than basketball guy and one of my favorite players is eden hazard and that has made me somewhat weary of players who seem like iron men. Hazard only missed 20 league games in his 7 years at chelsea (the only player to play more games in the prem in his time was De Gea, a gk) and then he went to Real Madrid and has injury after injury and completely falls off and is 32 and already retired

    I think another factor when it comes to players talking about/reveling an injury after a loss is the fact that if their opponents know about it, they will absolutely target them to get any advantage they can. So while it can look like making excuses, I personally won't try and discredit a player talking about being injured while playing.

    • @whatslaps
      @whatslaps  3 місяці тому +5

      Exactly. You've seen players do really dirty things when they know their opponent is injured. Remember when Kelly Olynyk deliberately yanked Kevin Love's arm when he knew Love had a shoulder injury? If I was a player and I intended to play through injury, there's no way in hell I would publicize it until after the game or series was over.

    If Wemby's career turns out to be as good as promised and if he stays as healthy as possible, I really hope young athletes take it as an example of how you should treat your conditioning and agility training. This guy devotes a lot of time to work on his durability, which was really nice to find, because we can be hopeful to enjoy his talent for a longer period. Availability is the ability.

    Ayyyy Tatum, Mr. Ironman all star. Great examples how/why he's pretty much always out there and the effects that that has. Benny boy loves lookin swaggy on the bench. That electrodes pain measurement is a good one, you have to meet a certain threshold to still get paid for missing games. Dag I knew about Lonzo being a constantly hurt guy, but didn't know it was THAT bad, sheesh. I would rather have Ball on my team if I was a GM, but good question, not sure what is going to happen with either of those guys moving forward, I'm interested to watch and see to find out. I felt like I had to compare Tatum to Ball. Ball seems to have this weird cult following of fans. Every short I've uploaded from this video gets people commenting and lamenting the plight of Lonzo. Then all the shorts I upload of Tatum people say he's overrated. I might do another video talking about why certain players develop cult followings and others get hate. Tatum is such a good dude who loves the game. He' a little corny, but if that's the worst thing he is come on. Thanks for checking back in, player

    Because ball went down at his peak and was despite his flaws one of the most impactful players on a squad that just looked better with him out there.

    The player who had a lot of injuries is Porzingis and he was very instrumental in them winning a title with his $30 million a year contract. But you seem to have forgotten about him. Lonzo's injury is the same injury from the Lakers where he tore his meniscus. So on the Bulls, he had a "slight meniscus tear" and was said to be out "6 to 8 weeks." He returned and couldn't even move up stairs. So they did a 2nd surgery to remove "debris" from the 1st surgery. If you don't see something is wrong here then you are missing the point. The 3rd surgery was a replacement. So injury prone is a little overly exaggerated. It appears 1 of these surgeries was a botch and not on Zo. If they said he was suppose to be back in 6 to 8 weeks and said he had no "structural damage," how did it turn into 2 1/2 years? I'll wait for your answer. Embiid has had 3 meniscus tears and always returned in the 2 month time frame. A meniscus tear is not a torn ACL, what Klay had, or an achilles tear like Durant and Klay. Klay was out 2 years with a torn acl and achilles.

I know teams right now are salivating over the Bulls either trading Zo at the 1/2 point or a release. I know several teams who have him on the radar. Miami, Atlanta, Spurs, Denver, Suns, Wolves, Sixers, Hornets, Dallas, Orlando, Clippers, etc. The year Zo was a RA, the Celtics tried to go after him but couldn't due to a trade they had made that disqualified them.

    I don't think it's fair to say that "calling Lonzo's 3pt percentage decent would be an overstatement." Over the last three seasons he played, he shot 38%, 38%, and 42% on HIGH volume. The dude has turned himself into one of the best spot-up shooters in the league. Throw in the defense and the passing, and he's a damn good player. The Bulls were the 1-seed when he was out there. The reason the Pelicans moved on from him had nothing to do with his abilities. They moved on from him because: 1) he didn't want to be in New Orleans; 2) they were worried about his health; 3) the Bulls offered him more than they wanted to match.

    Unfortunately I think the answer to that last question is Ben Simmons. At lease Ben’s situation can be looked at from an angle of he’s not happy with the way things are going. Lonzo is just perpetually injured lmao

    I know you've spoken about the CBA, max contracts, etc., on this channel, which I very much appreciate. Potential video idea (apologies if you've done this already or don't think it's a good idea): do you have any thoughts on the importance placed on All NBA selections in the context of things like contract eligibility and performance clauses, particularly given that journalists and sportscasters are the people who decide on those All NBA team selections? I'm not sure what a "better" system would look like, but it feels kinda wrong that a bunch of journalists, who are often very overt in their biases and risk nothing personally and professionally in submitting an All NBA ballot, get to make decisions that can cost a player tens of millions of dollars over a contract.
    Other factors, such as the newly-instituted games played threshold and overall positional ambiguity as players' roles on teams evolve, further complicate the issue. All NBA teams, and other distinctions like MVP and DPOY, seem on the surface like fun ways to recognize the best players in the league. But the financial impact of these decisions make them SO much more impactful to the players themselves.

      @whatslaps  3 місяці тому +4

      I'm definitely into that stuff as well, but an observation I've made is a lot of people aren't interested in it. I might try it though because I'm interested in it and have a lot of opinions. Just gotta figure out how to get people to click on it.

    The Pelicans did not trade Zo. Zo was an unrestricted free agent and selected the Bulls. Multiple teams were interested in Zo that year and he always wanted to play for the Bulls. He selected them like Caruso did and Derozan. The Bulls had to do a sign and trade to not lose him for nothing. Also, Zo played 35 straight games with the Bulls before that "slight meniscus tear." In those games he shot 42% from 3's. After revamping his shot with the Pelicans, he is one of the top 3 point shooters on a high volume as he took 8 a game. So, you are giving out misinformation for some reason. desperate for views and hits?🤣

      @@acmitchell. pointing out specific flaws to say that's not giving 100% effort sounds idiotic. I can probably find multiple instances for every player not challenging a shot at the rim where they could have gotten put on a poster for trying, and I can find multiple players that take a horrible heat check shot or fadeaway shot over someone that could be considered a mismatch. There probably isn't a player that gives 100% then if that's the standard
