Ezra’s old lightsaber was ingenious in my opinion. It likely would’ve been frowned upon by the masters, but I’m sure a few of the other Jedi would’ve been intrigued by its usage as a short and long range tool.
It could also be carried around much more openly, as its design was much closer to a blaster than a Lightsaber. Granted once he got some notoriety with the empire that benefit was pointless, but he could literally have his lightsaber on his waist, out in the open, and your average stormtrooper or even inquisitor wouldn't even realize its a lightsaber. It was much better for use as a lightsaber in a time of Jedi oppression because of this.
From the perspective of the old Jedi order, it would still be a useful design. One of the big issues with a lightsaber is that the only option is to either kill or permanently maim your opponent unless they surrender. _Lightsabers dont have a stun setting._ A stun blaster would be so useful for the day to day field work of a Jedi..., and it's merciful. As well as being able to stun fleeing suspects during an investigation. Pragmatic Jedi should have carried a stun blaster in their off hand. And another advantage, stun bolts can't be reflected back by another lightsaber wielder.
When Kanan used it against the grand inquistor, it gave him an edge the GI was not expecting. I recall the GI almost welcomed kanan running at him with a lightsabre, but then had to quickly go defensively when blaster shots started coming his way. Kanan swapping between the two modes seemed enough to keep the GI off balance
Cal Kestis’ lightsaber from Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor. In game it can be customized to all kinds of looks sure, however there is a canonical look for it. I think the canon Cal lightsaber would be a combination of his two master’s lightsabers with the crossguard vents on the Jaro Tapal half of the saber. The way Cal can use his saber is the most versatile I’ve ever seen in star wars. He can use it with one blade like Anikan and Obi-Wan, he can use two blades like Ahsoka and Ventress, he can use a saberstaff like Maul and Savage, or he can even use a crossguard like Kylo Ren. Hell he can even use a gun with it like how Kanan fought the Grand Inquisitor using Ezra’s first saber.
There is no single canonical look for Cal's saber, it's an intentionally modular design; it shows off both his skill as an engineer and his adaptability as a lightsaber combatant
@@pokeyscorpion8224 I was going of the idea where in Fallen Order if you don’t edit the lightsaber at all then it will end up as half Jaro Tapal and half Cere Junda. Also in all the trailers and stuff Cal always has the Jaro Tapal lightsaber so that might be the most canon lightsaber Cal has.
@@damianwolfe613 The player customization obviously isn't canon, but his lightsaber is still modular regardless and thus has no single canon appearance

Ezra's first lightsaber is one of my favourite. It's one of the most unique designs in all of Star Wars. I also like Cal Kestis's lightsaber. It's sleek and has a much longer handle than most other lightsabers which is great because having a longer handle gives more control and I feel like most lightsabers have barely enough space for 2 hands
I'm honestly a little disappointed that Cal Kestis' lightsaber wasn't even mentioned here, the modular design is really cool and gives him unprecedented versatility
Hearing about Kylo Ren’s cross guard lightsaber made me remember just how I wished the Knights of Ren were actually meaningful villians. They were such a cool concept.
Still hoping one day some writer can redeem the Knights of Ren by writing a great novel about them to expand on the lore outside of the Sequels. Same with Rey.
Now that you mention cross guard sabers I’m actually shocked we never got one in the Acolyte. I feel like in the high republic cross guards were a lot more common from all the comics, books and Jedi survivor. Although I am glad we got a lightsaber whip on screen finally so maybe season 2 could show us some dope cross guards especially with all the knights of ren and Kylo music being used in season 1.
I am hoping we get some other odd designs in season 2, I think the Twin (no spoilers) will craft something interesting now that she has her own saber. would love to see her craft a whip too then we can get a whip fight... could be amazing
Surprised that Ventress’ sabers weren’t included but still shown. A curved double bladed lightsaber that could separate into two standard curved sabers is really unique
Yea, but them being locked together for a saber-staff is one of the most unrealistic and foolish weapon designs in Star Wars. This is an exceptionally useful and effective mechanic for straight-handle weapons, but for curved handles, absolutely not. Might be the single most anti-effective weapon design in Star Wars' entire history. And I say "anti" effective rather than "in" effective because, not only would it not give any benefit, it would actively hinder the user to an extreme. I've thought about this before, as a 1st degree black belt in HaiDong Gumbo (Korean Swordart) and 3rd in TaeKwon Do, ever since I first saw it. Even considering the Force, the design is so awful and physically detrimental to the wielder, no Force ability is going to even that out, let alone make it into an advantage. B But again, the IDEA is great. It just has to be with non-curved hilts. My Grandmaster has two Ninjitsu Battleswords (which have a blade and hilt exactly like a katana, but with no curve to the blade. Single edge, very shap, with an extremely firm tang, and the traditional cord-wrapped hilts), that are identical twins and are designed to be able to quickly twist and snap their hilts together, creating a dual-blade/ staff. The hilts are both somewhat long, about a hand-and-a-half each, which I prefer, and when attached, they create a pretty long middle grip to allow for a lot of hand and form adjustments and leverages, as well as opening up more Bo Staff based techniques. Also, they can lock together two different ways: with the blades facing opposite directions, which is the usual choice, or with both facing same direction, which is more niche use. He's allowed me to train with it and borrow it since I was a teenage girl, and besides the WuShu Spear/ Bo Staff, it's definitely the weapon I'm most talented with. Wow I’m not a starwars fan at all but just randomly searched “unique lightsabers” because I knew one character had a curved one and this video was just posted today lmao
On screen or not, Darth Bane "gifted"(by his instructor on Korriban - in legends is added after his instructor killed his master, the first owner of this hooked lighsaber) curved or hooked hilt lightsaber is not less amazing that the one of Lord Tyrannus or Count Dooku, probably is still more significative as it occurred around 1k years before Dooku being born. Nor trashing at all Dooku's "curved" lightsaber, quite the opposite, it served him (and his form II - with some nuances integrated from other forms, like soresu form III, which is a bit ironic as it was the main form used by Kenobi who always was a toy in the hands of the Count) and his fighting style pretty darn well.
Lol, it's not a battle-axe. The hilt has a similar visual aessthetic to a battle-axe design, but it doesn't actually function as one. It's just a large hilt lightsaber with vertical guard fans. Definitely cool to look at, and likely an excellent design for comabt, though. There are a few cool hilts with spikes or protruding guards going along the blade. One of Darth Revan's hilts, one of Starkiller's hilts (he has two sick hilts, the other shows the crystal), and Darth Talon's Vong material kinda has spikes. More like claws, I guess.

@@MrPotatoPig yes, maybe that is because she only wielded it for a short time that redfive didn't mention her. Also, she is the only one, that we know, to have gifted it, instead of losing a fight. And, if i remember right, she found it while she was possessed at Dathomir, or i might be confusing two different things
@@mattyt1961 Sabine dueled Gar Saxon when she had returned to her family's home to try to convince her mother to have Clan Wren join the Rebellion. Sabine of course won the duel; however, she did not kill Gar Saxon, Sabine's mother did.
(edit add:) Sabine also wielded the Dark Saber during the operations to free her father from Imperial imprisonment.
@@nagnacamo25 Ezra actually found it, sort of, when Darth Maul brought him to Dathomir and pointed out the saber to Ezra. The Dark Saber did end up in Sabine's possession just after the events of she and Kanan being possessed by Night Witches.
Blaster ❤❤❤❤
Wasn't Gios' crossguard featured in Jedi Survivor?
Man wouldn’t it be cool if there’s a Jedi out there who uses a crossguard lightsaber like Kylo Ren’s, but then the hilt can expand out (like Robin’s bo staff) so you can have a lightsaber trident or pike?
Oppo Rancisis' hilt is one of my favorite.
Fun fact sir Christopher Lee made the curved design because he actually was taught dueling in real life
this channel is such a W
Darth vader using only one stance of his possible two is all of us in jedi survivor
Cal Kestis - combonation/Adapting Light Saber
the swiss army knife of Light sabers
Stellans hilt reminds me a lot of the Crucible from Doom
Ezra's is my fave just cause I'm a sucker for gunblades
I always thought Darth Nihilious had a very interesting lightsaber. It almost looked Lovecraftian.
11:35 much more of my type it has a blaster which could stung which in return means much more easier hits if possible and it’s still a light saber at the same time if I wasn’t Star Wars, I wouldn’t care about the standards if it means survival more easier I would do whatever the hell I want of course, a light saber gun better for my own fighting style if not that then may be a double sided light saber another one which I may use but only with a lightshield then I will only use a double sided light saber
Wow I’m not a starwars fan at all but just randomly searched “unique lightsabers” because I knew one character had a curved one and this video was just posted today lmao
I get putting Dooku in.... but Bane had a curved hilt too, and his story is way cooler.
More to add to my collection.....
I’m surprised Darth Malgus’s light saber wasn’t included. The thing is a battle axe and a lightsaber. That is the coolest lightsaber ever.
More like claws, I guess.
i've watch star wars rebel since i was childhood
General Greivous: which of these lightsaber are your Windue
Windue: the one that said "Bad Motherfucker"
Sabiene wren wielded the dark saber
I will not tolerate my Goat Kanan for being left out his hilt can literally be split into 2 pieces and be left unidentified
Cal Kestis ha an adjustable crossguard, splitting saber, double saber and regular saber with customizable hilts
You forgot about the Sith that made hi lightsaber in to a blaster that pierced bescar with ease
guy in the back at 8:42 be like: WEEEEEE IM A HELICOPTER :DDDDDD
in star wars rebels the dark saber had been used by sabine wren
Saber Pikes
Saber Staffs
Plo Koons weird katar type lightsaber
Many people already mentioned Cal Kestis's splitable lightsaber

The nearly indestructible alloy known as FRICK😂
(For a parody of Obi-Wan): RED FIVE! How many times have we told you that lightsaber crystals are not universally called Kyber crystals and you can't bleed lightsaber crystals?
Real life reason , count dookue light Saber is curved because of Christopher Lee's old man hands had trouble using the straight light Saber props
Was it darth krayt or bane who had a longer hilt and blade making it a true zweihander because the wielder was above average height and physically stronger as others?
Everyone talks about how that lightsabers to trash count dooku or the Dark Saber one of the good ones in Star Wars. Personally my favorite lightsaber is actually cal kestis is lightsaber in both fallen order and survivor. But even then it's not really the lightsaber that even started the whole entire franchise of Star Wars. Currently as of right now I actually have a replica of that lightsaber and it is the Skywalker Saber( anakin' 2nd lightsaber)
I am using voice typing and i did not mean to say trash count dooku sorry😐😵
