I guess some people don't like Cat Stevens haha? That's fine, you can't ever expect to please everyone. So glad you're happy with this one, expect some more Cat in the near future! -Rob
Another incredible lesson -so detailed- your lessons are so complete. Everything including strumming patterns- music theory- vocals- and all the little signature licks. This is the best lesson by far-I really wanna learn that solo I think I saw you have a lesson for that
Thank you man for what you do. Thanks to you I learnt a lot and made real progress in playing. You are a very good teacher - thank you for patience and detailed and slow breakdowns.
I heartily agree Jeff, Rob’s vocals certainly caught my attention. I was a typical young, rebellious college student who identified quite closely with this song. Finding this tutorial on UA-cam threw me back 50 years, and to a specific point in my life. Not too proud to admit to the eerie emotions this song dredged from my memories of a half century ago.
Hi Rob. Love your tutorials. This is the second and I’m truly grateful. One comment to consider for next time. The in-verse lick, I think you call it Lick 1, off the D chord. At about 11:30...you go through that pretty quick and it took me a while of rewinding, stopping, rewinding, to figure out what you’re doing. My request is, anything with finger picking, Go Really Slowly. You just need to do it once, but Do It Slowly. It will not take you longer and it will save me and maybe others frustration. Thanks for these amazing tutorials. And I find your musical talents a bonus.
Hey Mike, thanks so much for the positive feedback. Great tune, and an amazing record. I too grew up with these songs, that's the benefit of having a father with an awesome record collection. Be well and enjoy your practice! -Rob
Searched so many tutorials for this song and this one is simply amazing.. It is complete and easy to learn when you teach. Hats off to u man ... Thanks alot!!!
Glad to hear it Camille! It's a great pleasure to contribute to so many peoples progress. Many more lessons are on the way both here and at Patreon.com/Swiftlessons. Be well and enjoy your practice. -Rob
My pleasure! This is a fun one for the voice, as you get to work both ends of your range. I need a few more days to get comfortable with the lower octave parts, but little by little I can feel my voice adjusting. Enjoy!
Sounds fantastic guitar and vocals! Tea for the Tillerman what a timeless album! I really love your UA-cam channel. The performances are always polished, plus the breakdown and theory👍🇨🇦
Hermosa canción me recuerda cuando escuchaba y cantaba y bailaba ésta canción de adolescente interpretada por su padre Congratulations father and son🇺🇾
Ah, that's quite the important skill. I'll have to think on it for a while. But I can tell you that a big part of that is knowing which chords are in a key. The rest is using your ear, and learning to recognize the sound and feeling that certain chord changes provide. Thanks for the request!
I play this song and it's tough to sing because the vocal begins in the low octave in the key of G which is sung in baritone and then switches into a tenor. It shows you how gifted a vocalist Cat Stevens is.
Second chord is a D., not a Bm, yet.... On the high part, it's a B minor. Just an observation. I see this a lot when folks play this. If you listen to it, you'll say "Damn, he's right" :-)
Can you please instruct an electric guitar version lick of “The sound of silence”. Love this song, it would be of great appreciation. You have given me valuable tools to become a better player. Thanks for what you do.
Thank you ao very much for your Tutorial I love it so good. Plz my Help us a tutorial or lesson of son (end credits version) eddie montgomery . Save me and other my fellow

I love your intros... they give us the potential of a single instrument and how it can sound once you master the piece. You are among the best.
Don't know why anyone would down vote this, awesome job! Cat Stevens was always one of my favorite musicians growing up. Thanks for making the video!
I guess some people don't like Cat Stevens haha? That's fine, you can't ever expect to please everyone. So glad you're happy with this one, expect some more Cat in the near future! -Rob

ua-cam.com/video/XXjN6e-4rko/v-deo.html
love it..💖👏
ua-cam.com/video/XXjN6e-4rko/v-deo.html
You are playing the bm chord in the verses early. It is only in the chorus
he does this cuz the D/F# is probably a bit advanced of a bar cord. id recommend the D open cord and add the pinky on the f# on the 4th fret
In the original song and when he used to play it live, the 2nd chord is Bm7.
Can you please do peace train by cat Stevens?
