This song brings a tear to my eyes every time. My dad played this for me when I was a boy and through the years I listen to this song and reflect on my life. Great lesson!
Me too, I am 13, my dad plays this song for me all the time, Right before I do something I always think about him. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am going to play this at my mom and dads anniversary.
That’s beautiful brother! As you go through your life, this song will mean more and more to you. I’m 33 now and I remember being 13 like it was yesterday. Enjoy being young, NEVER give up on your dreams and ALWAYS be honest with yourself. When you are feeling lost, know that it will pass and a little Cat Stevens Father and Son will put things back into perspective. Carry on young Jedi...
No joke, the first probably 35 times (I have a 6 year old son) I saw Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2, the funeral scene made me cry like a baby with this song.
My son took me to the theater to see it because he knows what this song means to me... the scene started and instantly a tear rolled down my face. I look over at him and I see him holding his wifes hand and they are looking at me. He puts his arm over my shoulder and just says "I got you dad".....
This was one of my grandpas favorite songs I’ve been wanting to learn since I was young. He always played guitar but passed away before he could teach me I got a guitar a few months ago and I want to learn this song for him. I always wanted him to teach it to me but now I’m learning it for him
A hard song to play not because of the chords but when you are an old man and a Dad. It swells with emotion and the unspoken. Something to think about during Covid lockdowns while learning to play with the one and only - Marty.
Marty...you are such a great teacher. I'm like Juno & Celisse...I have learned SO much from you. You make it fun & have a great way in showing ppl how to play easily. Thank you for that!!! I have watched you for so long & hope you continue for a long time!!!! God bless & stay safe!!! Thanks again!

I don’t know if it’s possible I’ll EVER be able to get through this song playing and singing it without turning into a blubbering idiot but at least you’ll get me part of the way there. Cheers, Marty. You’re the best.

Hi Marty you've helped me so much to learn guitar on the flamenco guitar my grandpa built for me. He taught me to play a couple finger picking flamenco things, I'm actually a drummer since I was a teenager, now I'm in my mid thirties and realizing the joys of playing guitar. I played in the drum line in my college's band, was in wind ensemble, random community bands, and plenty of jams around town with players. I love all genres, but my true passion is Cat Stevens because of his passion, and the beautiful meaning behind his music. I've learned Peace Train, Moon Shadow, and Where Do The Children Play from you, and I am so stoked on your method of teaching. Could you please make a tutorial for "Sitting"? It's such a powerful song for me and I'd love to learn how to play it. Thank you!
