Honda CB250N Super Dream. First start in 29 Years?

  • Опубліковано 2 лют 2020
  • Purchased nearly new in 1982 by the current owner and after last being ran around 29 years ago we attempt to start this Honda CB250N Super Dream. Used regularly every day by the last owner to go to work on but after retiring in 1991 he parked it in his garage and that was about the last time it ran.
In this video we want to see if the engine is free, has compression and ultimately will it run on both cylinders?
We had previously looked the bike over and put oil into the cylinders 3 weeks prior, to prevent scoring before attempting to start.

Don't run the starter for more than ten seconds, then give the solenoid chance to cool down before the next attempt or it'll burn out.

We have a new one to fit eventually. We only wanted to really see of it would turn over and possible fire with a dribble of fuel to check if it had compression.
As it had been stood for so long to see if the motor was worth saving.
We never intended it to run for long.
      Kind regards. Jammyone.

I bought a red CB250N in 1979 for £750, I passed my test on it in 1980 and traded it in against a 1977 Triumph TR7RV "Tiger 750".

Hey Guys, great video, very helpful. I've got the same bike and trying to get it to start, I followed your steps and seems to start, but it doesn't run for longer than 5-10 seconds. Did you manage to get it to run for longer? I have new spark plugs, rebuilt the carbs, new fuses, new battery, but struggling to run it. Any help would be appreciated. Also, would love to see how the Super Dream is coming along!!

After so many years standing, cleaning the carbs is mandatory. The jets will be gummed up, plus the needle and the float bowl will be full of evaporated petrol gunge.
Never mind the condition of the fuel tank.

we put wd40 into the cylinders & left for a few weeks to soak and put in Shell helix oil in as we only wanted to see if it would turn over and fire initially we didnt intend it to run for long.
