    I have to tell you, I was suffering in this one. It's a perfect rebuildable bike. It has two seized pistons only. With a little bit of patience and time, the motorcycle could be tunning. It's a piece of history and it seemed to be 100% factory original. A rare thing these days.
    The hammering on the pistones made me look to one side. No need for that.
    I understand that you probably don't have the time to deal with that rusted bike, but many of us would love to have that bike that you will send to the scrape yard.
    Dont get me wrong, I love your channel, but on this one... I don't agree. She only needed some love.

      100% agree. I've brought bikes back from the grave worse than this. Definitely takes a lot of patience but it could have been saved it really wasn't that bad besides the cylinders.

      yeah a stuck motor isn't a big deal. Soak it for a few days and work at it. It will unstick just fine.

      If it was a collectable bike that would be one thing, but they made millions of these, yes, you might be able to restore it. But would it be worth the time and money that would take? Mabe, Maybe not.

    Heat the cylinder and tap pistons using a wood block may work. That hammer though 👌 😳

    had an impact screwdriver like that, was doing a small concrete job in my yard and told my son to use the cold chisel to clean up the edge of the pour. When i went to check after an hour wondering what was taking so long I saw my son with my impact screwdriver and a hammer chipping the edge of the concrete off 😆. In his defense it did a decent job lol

    You gave up way too easy on this one. It was outside for 30 years - of course it's going to be rough! Mustie1 had one just like that & it too was siezed. He made a great series out of that bike by rustoring it...

      There are plenty of other running CB350's in much better condition that need parts donors. Losing one rust bucket like this isn't the end of the world.

    Heat the jug, loads of WD40 on the pistons then drive a wooden wedge in between the jug and the engine body to get the jug off...

    It can be saved and you should save it. Just strip it right down and refinish the frame and build it back up. It would be a cool series. :)

      The revenue and subsequent sale he'd get from it would more than cover the expense of the rebuild, Plus he'd have saved it from the scrap.

    I have done a few bikes in this condition. I have found that the best option is to just strip it down to the frame and send it and other parts that can be powder coated straight to the shop. Soak the whole bike with PB Blaster for a few days before you tear into it. I have a manufacturing place in my small town. For a little over a $100 they strip the whole frame and powder coat it. It's called midstate. They specialize in large quantities of parts like brackets etc. They just fit the frame in the assembly line. For a basic color like black it is so cheap it is not worth the time or amount of money it would take me to do it myself. I had them do a couple RM 125 frames powder coated in Safety yellow that remarkably resembles Suzuki Yellow. They even had a blue for pre 89 Suzuki frame I had done. Just an idea to look into large manufacturers in the area for cheap and quality powder coating. Also bidding on cheap bolt lots for the bike on eBay is a great way to accumulate bolts.

    The studs on the top plate may be possible to take out with a stud extractor - I couldn't see if one was central and not possible to access. As the other guy said, use heat and penetrating fluid - maybe if you leave it overnight, you could try penetrating fluid, rustoleum or transmission fluid. If you scoop out the end of a piece of 2x2 wood to fit the cylinder head you could alternate between heat and then hitting the cylinder head with the wooden rod. When Mustie1 did a Honda CB350 he dropped the bike to 5th gear to try to joit the engine free but you can't do that at present, without getting the engine back in. It may be worth one last blast to try to free up the cylinder. You could be the first person on youtube to use a drill and a sawzall to take a piston head out and replace the piston head.

    My advice before undoing any fastening soak in wd40 or similar at least an hour beforehand. Then you diminish the chance of breaking or shearing studs etc etc.

    I restore these all the time.
    First thing I do is wash it and inspect it while cleaning it. That way when your working on it, the process is much more enjoyable. No mouse piss or droppings....dirt...etc.
    Points, condensers, carb kits, battery, fuel filter, fuel line.

    Oh wow what a job you've taken on, back in the day this would have been some ones pride and joy.and been a very desirable bike i wish you the best of luck bringing this poor old lady back to life very much looking forward to future videos on this bike.     I think the chrome on the camshaft end covers is practically rust proof. I had a ‘68 CL350 that sat exposed to the weather under a shed for about the same amount of time. The engine exterior was grody but those covers looked like new. Unfortunately it went to the scrappers.

    Well, that was fun! The impact driver is your best friend. Many less striped out phillips heads will follow if employed.

    I learned the hard way after many stripped Phillips head screws that JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screws & screwdrivers are different from standard American Phillips head screws & screwdrivers.
    I have a stuck piston in a lawnboy 2 stroke, I poured penetrating oil the spark plug hole & filled the cylinder all the way up. The piston was close to TDC covering the exhaust hole. I'm hoping after it soaks for a couple weeks, it'll break free. I'm gonna try a torch like Troy Aldridge mentioned below.

      Found out about the J.I.S. screws back in 79' and ordered a set of J.I.S. screwdrivers. Have to keep them locked up, because everyone seems to want them and it takes a week or more to get them delivered. Haven't found a store that I can walk in to and buy them. Also found J.I.S. bits for my impact driver (the handheld one that requires striking with a hammer) as well as J.I.S. bits for my electric impact driver and drill. Absolutely swear by 'em. Glad to see someone else mentioning them. Cheers :)

      Yeah and just a FYI sometimes the tool kits r so rare they cost $500 for oems if u can find them. That one wrench also not for the spark plug ITS FOR THE AXLE CAUSE U GET FLAT U CAN CHANGE TUBE!! ALL MY PROJECTS R LIKE THIS!! take ur time stop and think about it for a min but don’t give up. When u do something like these projects it REALLY PROVES UR MECHANIC LEVEL AND THAT UR A MASTER MECHANIC!!

    Personally I would have persevered. I've unseized several pistons. I would have applied some heat to the barrels. I've had a lot of seized motors in my 51 years. I've never scraped a bike yet.. if I had it I'm sure I'd get it running. Its still a lovely little bike.

    Good luck with that pile! Got a CB 750 custom out back that has been sitting since 87, somewhat tarped up. It rough as hell. Always thought I'd get her in shop and get her back to former glory, but not super high on priority list. Got business to run first.

    I had one just like that one only the gold color. Rode it around in college some, got married in 1973 and took it to Ft. Bragg, NC where I was in the 82nd Airborne. Had to sell it to buy tires for my car. Of all the things I have had that I wish I had back, it is that bike.

    If you anticipate more rusty projects in your future (and ours), a media blasting cabinet would come in handy. I bought a huge one from Schwain's Cycle, in Maryland, when they went out of business. I only paid a couple hundred for it and it paid for it's self in less than a week.

    Think we've got 3/4 of that model out in back to take to scrap steel yard, may be same year i know its early 70's. I will see what's left of it, I know we pulled motor but it's junk too, boat anchor at best. I remember it still has wiring and electrical on it, if the ignition and key are still on it I can yank them quick and box em up and if you hit me back I can send them to ya. No charge.enjoy your vids, your gaining some great skills! Wish my guy here had your initiative, but when he's in the groove he's good.     Put some vinegar in the heads let sit 2 days, then pound pistons, if still not moving, heat and lube it

    Best way is to pull motor out, sucks but it's a fact. Bet valves are solid to head, easier to fix on the bench, great job bud..

    Next time u get a very rusted seized engine use the old vinegar down the cylinder holes and soak for 1 _ 2 days, other vids out there show it works , eg Puddins Fab Shop

    CB350 (325cc) from Honda in 1968. It evolved into CB360. In less than 10 years the total world sales of the two models was approximately 3 million units. It remains the 2nd highest number next to Honda C100 Cub. I bought a 1972 CB 350 over 20 years ago with only 3500 miles on it. It did not ride well and would foul up the plugs so I let it sit inside the house for 18 years. Finally, last year I fixed the problem with the correct plugs, cleaned the carbs, cleaned and polished it up. I was surprised to find it was almost in near mint condition. Listed it on eBay, Cycle trader and finally sold it locally for only $2900. I was surprised no collector was interested and wondered how much it could fetch in an auction. I’d like to keep it but my garage is too full with old bikes waiting to be resurrected.

    if you do a complete teardown, you can probably do something about all that rust, sand/filler, repaint, etc and make it like new again. so long as the frame rust is purely surface, its fine.

    Get your propane torch and go through some heatcycles and penetrant for several days to try and free up the piston rings. In between heat cycles, get a buddy to put torque on the crank while you tap wood block and sledge hammer on top of pistons. Obviously it would take several tries and try not to smash the pistons to shreds or overtorque the crank

    The bike is a K4 350, which only came out in late 71 that being the case I would think it must be one of the first k4's, my first brand new bike bought from the dealers and straight off the boat way back in 1973 was a 250 K4, one of the last just before the G5 came in with its fancy upswept exhausts......and not a patch on mine for acceleration or top end due to all the smog detuning and compression lowering they inflicted on it.....especially after as being an apprentice mechanic at the time, I opened out and ported and flowed the head, reamed out and fitted bigger valves and installed a go faster Yoshimura higher lift cam in it - even the infamous Yamaha rd 250 coulnt get away from me...the three cylinder Kawasaki 250 two stroke could pull away from me from a standstill because my cammy engine was a bit down on power at very low revs - but I soon caught up when it came on cam - usually much to the surprise of the rider as try as they might they couldnt distance me, I later fitted the slightly smaller 350 rear sprocket and saw an indicated 102 mph laying over the tank on a long straight road close to home but given natural speedo error was probably more like about 96 to 98 in reality either way it was bloody fast, man I loved that bike. wish I had kept it for all these years I would still be riding her on nice Sundays to this day. mine was a bit unique at the time too, as I professionally re sprayed all her painted bits in a really nice Ford light green metalic and had the black and white tank wings replaced by body shop professional coach lining expert, it looked like it was fresh off the boat from Japan. - it was previously the metalic plum version. You were taking me back to my youth as you started to strip the motor - I used to take mine out and strip and rebuild it about once a month just for the hell of it. I couldnt help myself I was sitting there shouting at the screen - take the WHOLE damn engine out at once THEN take the two side covers off either side of the head to get the cam out leaving the sprocket and chain sitting on the tensioner bar THEN you can get the head off once its out of the frame ! - even the starter motor can be left on until after the motor is out.
    To get those barrels off you should have used six triangular wooden chocks carefully hammered in underneath between the barrels and the crank case bit by bit while using a hammer SHAFT NOT its bloody striking face to gently tap each piston down as you carefully hammered more pressure into the chocks leaving them sitting in penetrating oil, no piston is ever too seized that you cant get it out using this method, done carefully and with a light honing of the bores they would ever likely have been fine , also even the pistons would have ever likely been reusable once cleaned and polished up, such a shame.

    From time-to-time, when I buy one of these rust queens, I always just spray the entire bike down with penetrating oil before I attempt to remove anything. Makes life easier!

    Naval jelly Works real good to dissolve rust you can usually get it auto parts stores brush it on and let it set a while hose the rust off with water keys are easy to get a replacement I believe all you need is a registration or a pink slip from your Honda the numbers on the ignition switch give the number to the parts man numbers right next to where the key goes in

    Try using a series of hard plastic wedges under head and try and bring it up even past the pistons.

    Tip/ 3/8 impact with Phillips bit. After impact driver, easy peasy!

    Don't need the key to open the tank, it will open with a flathead screwdriver. Those locks are for show.

    I'm pretty sure the seat tips up but pushing the lever alone won't do it you have to actually pull up on the seat.

    i noticed you got an impact driver,nice isn't it not having to play around for hours with a bolt,just think how hard those would have been not having that impact driver,especially with this bike.

    Love to see a video of a rebuild of them carbs, make them look all new just to show what can actually be saved and show people how easy they are to do, in fact be awesome to see the full bike rebuild just for the sake of it, but brilliant video again thanks for making them

    I had a 65 cl77 Honda scrambler I think 305 in the early 90s it was a fun bike, looks almost the same as the CB

    Scrapyard??! You must be joking!!? Its a perfect bike with all parts ready for restauration! Just remove everything and have the frame sand blasted and either paint or powder coat it. Engine is easy to fix too as parts are readily easy to come by.

    FYI if you are trying to save the motor use a press slash heat worst case use a hole saw to cut the cylinders free as the pistons at that point are not reusable

      He likely cut it. There's no way to remove it without removing the camshaft, even if you unbolt the sprocket. I've rebuilt one of these engines before.

    That's is a nice bike I would rebuild the top end and fix it love old honda I have fixed 2 and 1 was just as bad as this one

    What were you thinking. DUMP IT !!!!!. Theres people out there that would give their right arm to bring that neat old honda back to life. I hope you havent dumped it, and have passed it on to some one that can see its potential, and bring it back to life.

    There are some salable parts left. For example...I'd go $30.00 for that headlamp housing assembly. The frame is worth saving too. Anyone doing a full restore could blast and paint that frame if they had a damaged one. They dont make then anymore. Same with the pegs, and centerstand, kickstand etc.common items that get bent, sprung or mangled.

    Toss those screws chase threads and put 8mm headed bolts, no more issues. Painful to watch you get them sockets out, I know the pain. Got smart and switched to bolts all my regular customers got them free cause I know I'll be seeing their broken messes again and again.

    Engine out job,that would free up by leaving diesel in the barrels for a week,,drain apply some heat to the barrels,penetrating oil to the pistons,it smokes well doing it,gentle pressure,it will free off...patience needed

    Well I paid $600.00 for my '78 Suzuki GS750E over 30 years ago. The bike was laying down behind a garage uncovered when I found it. the guy I bought from told me a friend of his went to prison and gave him the bike to take care of with the title. Had to file for lost title. It was not on good shape at all. 4 cans of carb clean to get the carbs moving. Got it running and about 2 weeks later I rode about 700 miles round trip across Utah and back. Still have it and it still runs as strong as new.

    Can't win them all. But that Honda 350 CB is one of the most sought after bikes of them all. I had a 72 model, bought it brand new for $725. It was a great bike and I wish I had it back.
