  • Starting up 1981 Super Dream CB400N for the first time after being left outside for 15 years.
I've owned it for 25 years, taken it out of shed in 2005 to make sculpture commission and never put it back.

Not sure to make it a winter project or sell as running.

Just installed a cleaned carb in my cb400n that's been standing in a barn for atleast 15 years. Started right up. Amazing what these bikes can do after all these years

Just bought a cb400n that hasnt been driven properly in 20 years. Has just been sitting in storage but runs and stops just fine after giving it a new battery, spark plugs and oil! Great bikes!

Thanks, always good to get support with a project like this. I wish changing the oil was all I needed to do, just taken out the swing arm and it's rusted right through. Not sure to repair or replace, that's part 2🤣

Why don't you put it into a higher gear when trying to turn the engine? It should get you better leverage ...?

Very interesting , I had a similar experience with a cm 250 about 10 years back, so what you doing with it , if I was you I'd economically get it road worthy and use it , lot's of fun to be had there , deserves to be saved and used I reckon 👍

Hi, just had a look at your 250 my 400 wasn't that good when I had it 25 years ago😂
I've had x2 250's the first when I was on L plates almost 40 years ago. And the second one about mid 90's with the 400, sold the 250 after a couple of years and kept the 400. my bike made me cough when I started it as well, I think it was all the oil I put down the barrels😂

Don't turn the engine backwards (by turning the back wheel). The camchain tensioner doesn't like it!

I know it was amazing, I removed the plugs and put petrol down a few times and away it went. Had it running up the field for about hour and half and it never missed a beat👍
