About 20 years ago, I made my first pysanky at a friend's house. She had a fabulous studio. I enjoyed the art tremendously and it has been my dream to have a studio in which to work.
Your shorts started showing up in my feed-I don't know why, but I'm really glad they did. They bring me back to my childhood, when every Easter my grandmother, my mother, and later myself would boil eggs with onion skins and scratch ib the designs. Mother favored a hatpin (such as you were using) while Gamoo preferred using the point of a blade of a pair of manicure scissors.
I learned how to do this as a young girl in art class. I made some again as an adult, but have lost my supplies some years ago. I will have to find the supplies again. We blew out the eggs first, which made them a bit more fragile. Your eggs are so far beyond what we did in art class it’s not even the same category, but we had so much fun seeing the patterns develop after the hair dryer was used to melt the eggs. Love to see your work. May have to see if the kids are ready to learn this.
Really love this. I can imagine that neo-classicistic pattern (Louis XVI, Empire etc ) would be a nice alternative too. Have you ever tried to work with leaf gold on them? 😊
Your pysanky are so gorgeous! I started about a month ago and am absolutely loving it. You inspired me! I have one question. I have the Luba’s electric kistka and find that the smaller tips get clogged really often. Your lines are so fine and consistent. Do you ever struggle with the tips getting clogged? Any tricks on how to prevent that? I try to keep my spaghetti wax really clean.
Those are incredible, just incredible! How awesome is this!!! I've never heard of this art form and wish I had years ago. I'm gonna have to try it now, dang it! I already do so many things, but this, this I cannot say no to. Where can I learn about what the best supplies are, a few quick videos or websites, or something? Do you have anything like that listed? Do you have how to videos? I've just watched this one video so far but I HAVE to watch them all now, you are an incredibly talented young lady. Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely love this, beautiful piece of folk art! Why do you poke the hole in the egg near the end? My family is also Polish and we celebrate it. Oddly where I grew up has a big Polish community so we had lots of festivals and chances to learn about our heritage.
I usually drain and clean the egg before the final color. It's nice to work on it whole for most of the process. Then before I dye it black I empty it and rinse the inside with water. That gets it ready for the final shade, reveal, and two rounds of varnish. This way it lasts for decades!
You are way above my level of ability but I’ve been doing Pysanky for 40 years. I learned from a lady in a nearby town. Lately I’ve had trouble with the quality of the dyes. Would you please tell me where you get yours? I order from the Ukrainian store in Minneapolis. Thank you, Pam (From Wisconsin)

Can’t believe this is done by hand. Amazing skill and talent.
I paint miniatures for war games, but enjoy crafting of all kinds. I'm glad UA-cam recommended you. Subbed!
And I want to start immediately to learn this wonderful art 😍
Give me a minute and I’ll do a beginner egg from start to finish. Sound fun?
I'm already excited 😃
Stunning!! I’m shocked by the dye not turning into a icky poo color being a new color layer wash time 😱

Please explain, you use only wax in your pen?

Could you do one with breast cancer ribbons and pink colors? My aunt, grandma and best friends mother all died from breast cancer.
