You are being a bit paranoid here, I think. I doubt they intended it to be insulting, and it certainly doesn't seem so to me. Actually, it's kind of a cool expression. To my mind it's no different than using the expression "Dude!" or "Far Out", etc., which originally derive from California, via the popular movie/TV culture (as does "Top of the morning to you").
You should not mess around with these tunes..they are ment to stay traditional so that our future generations can still identify ...please don´t do this..
Really late in the day but, please get a life, this is so typical of American Irish or as we like to say in the UK plastic Paddys, no offence was meant and none should have been taken so please just enjoy the music. Yes I am Irish and live in the uk.
