I thought that it was pretty cool that, despite that this all takes place in the future, Data still uses a centuries-old maritime phrase to order the evacuation.
They made a conscious effort, in both TOS, TNG, and otherwise, to maintain old fashioned maritime themes. Both in the rankings, orders issued, and uniforms.
47 seconds to warp core breach, lets jump in the turbolift. 46 seconds later............where's the captain? He's in the shower...…..on board the ship. Guess he'll get a hot shower huh!
The Captain and First Officer Riker were not on board the ship, with Data in charge on the bridge. Data was third in charge, after Picard and Riker, so he was perfectly well capable of being in command.
Gotta admire Data's devotion to duty and details. Despite the fact he thinks the ship is about to be vapor in a minute, he still bothers to make a log entry about the emergency.

You spend months on a starship as soon you get to a space dock and I'm not needed on the ship I'm getting off the ship so I'm guessing most of the ship personnel were already off and they most likely do run abandon ship drills.
Geordi and Data have 41 seconds to leave the ship from the bridge They enter the turbolift then beam to the space station. 41 seconds wouldn't have been long enough to reach the nearest transporter room therefore it must have been a site-to-site transport. Why didn't they just do this from the bridge?
Yeah but maybe space in the Enterprise was warped so that when they exit the turbolift they're straight in Engineering, like in that other episode where dr Crusher almost got crushed.

Ship's computer was basically shut down for certain functions. The voice you hear is the voice of Starbase 74's computer what is handling those functions for the duration of the refit.
If they are trying to evacuate everyone then why, when Wesley and some other kids beam out, is there on five people on a transporter capable it beaming six. Was Wesley THAT unlikable that no one else wanted to be on the transporter pad with him
The main reason I think that Wesley gets grief is that people expected adult main characters, not a teenager growing up. Which is exactly what Wesley was. As for how it ended, blame the writers for screwing up that up as well.
You'd think the fact the voice of the computer was Wesley with his voice lowered and not the normal voice would lead one to believe there was a computer error lol

Grabs her arm: "The ship is almost clear. The one outside the window with the spotlight on it. We can't get there from here"
Crusher: Some problem in Engineering
Yar: Get a security team together
Worf: Um... Wouldn't an engineering team be better?
Lol! You gotta secure engineering first if the cause is related to sabotage, so secure first (security) send in engineering second. Plus...🤣 You know no one listens to Worf!
Worf learned how to overreact to any situation from Yar.
I wouldn't even trust Starfleet security with, well, security. WTF are they going to do with an engineering issue?
Not sure. Q appears on the screen in the very first episode and Worf tries to shoot it. "Lieutenant! Do you intend to blast a hole through the viewer?". Apparently, it is more of an occupational disease.
@@thiagodeandrade7081 Worf never met a book he didn't enjoy (eating).
you cant transport to that ship, its under maneuvering thrusters! if it was at warp you might stand a chance though
The fact that a 15 year old boy is on the watch at the bridge also maintains maritime themes (midshipmen).
@@player400_official Cabin Boy Wesley!
Data to Wesley: set automated departure to the farthest place possible.
Wesley immediately goes to transporter room....
really is a lovely looking ship.
47 seconds to warp core breach, lets jump in the turbolift.
46 seconds later............where's the captain?
He's in the shower...…..on board the ship.
Guess he'll get a hot shower huh!
1:33 Abandon ship! Okay... let's casually walk in three different directions.
Picard had a doppelganger with a goatee in this episode.
You mean... Mirror Universe Picard?
Just imagine you're a guy wearing the mini skirt uniform when they sound the "abandon ship" call. Jesus.
"This is not drill." Is drilling in my head.
Sounds paiful what kind of drills were being used to drill ur head?
Back when we all suspected Geordi might die just because of the color of his shirt . Good times .

Yar: Get a security team together
Worf: isn’t that your job?
Love that one of the stock footage use if from a full Engineering area. Also love that they cannot beam aboard a moving object.
I get they are in Starbase...but why is the Bridge under the command of someone not even a commissioned officer?
The Captain and First Officer Riker were not on board the ship, with Data in charge on the bridge. Data was third in charge, after Picard and Riker, so he was perfectly well capable of being in command.
Wesley said “I’m out”😂
"Look, your ship is almost clear!"
*looks out the patio sliding glass doors*
So creepy how he grabs yars arm.
Gotta admire Data's devotion to duty and details. Despite the fact he thinks the ship is about to be vapor in a minute, he still bothers to make a log entry about the emergency.
"Abandon ship" *casually walks away
They do run drills so there is no panic
It'll always be a head scratcher that NO ONE was in the REACTOR ROOM... even while docked.
Brent Spiner did audition for the part of Picard and you kind of see it here.
That starbase computer voice has to be Captain Gloval/Commander Leonard from Robotech
I thought of a footbal team running out of energy from improper dietary ethic(s) & not enough food level comparison...."the field is deteriorating", lol.
Good job Star Trek Next Generation!👍
4:00
Quinteros : _Grabs Tasha and points at a window _*_completely filled_*_ with the Enterprise D_ Look! Your ship is almost clear.
Tasha : Where? I don't see anythi...Oh!..there it is!!! You're right. Thanks for pointing the ship out to me.
I really liked that episode.
Always Love this whole sequence added with the music
They were able to get off the ship in 41 seconds?! I don't think I could get out of my house in 41 seconds.
You spend months on a starship as soon you get to a space dock and I'm not needed on the ship I'm getting off the ship so I'm guessing most of the ship personnel were already off and they most likely do run abandon ship drills.
Pretend you are running after what you ate atTaco Bell has reached Uranus...
1:33 Starfleet starships in the 80s: earth tone, carpeted hallways with little alcoves for plants, and a man wearing a dress in the background. It truly was a more enlightened time.
I believe the motif is called "Marriott in space".
I love how there is suppose to be 20 transporter rooms.
Prepare for warp speed, standby trans-warp drive....Magnificent ship...
Geordi and La Forge sure cut it close. 41 seconds left and they decide to start walking toward the turbo lift...
Obviously this was before they brought Majel on board for the voice of the computer.
Ship's computer was basically shut down for certain functions. The voice you hear is the voice of Starbase 74's computer what is handling those functions for the duration of the refit.
Either way, hearing male computer voices in star trek is weird.
Majel's voice was used in Encounter at Farpoint, so she was there from the start.
worse feeling is having something stolen from you, but that's a whole star ship... lol.
That shot of Wesley when he’s talking to Data on the com. 😂😂😂😂
You would think even at a starbase there would always be someone on duty in engineering.
4:00 it was totally necessary for him to grab her arm. Yes. Totally necessary
Slowest abandoning of ship I have ever seen.
Nothing in any series has upset Worf more than this.
Except maybe the time they made him a merry man.
@@skyserf LMAO Data as Friar Tuck was too precious.
One of my favorite episodes
Yeah, the ship in like 20 meters away, moving at 5 meters per second. We couldn’t possibly transport back to it. Let’s just stand here and watch.
"I think we're the last."
"I hope we are."
Geordi's like "Dude!"
If they are trying to evacuate everyone then why, when Wesley and some other kids beam out, is there on five people on a transporter capable it beaming six. Was Wesley THAT unlikable that no one else wanted to be on the transporter pad with him
Andrew Thorne That caught my eye. Till I scolled down to see your comment exactly like I would say.
Yes, he is that unlikable.
The main reason I think that Wesley gets grief is that people expected adult main characters, not a teenager growing up. Which is exactly what Wesley was. As for how it ended, blame the writers for screwing up that up as well.
It could be they rotate an empty spot on the pad so if one fails, they still have another
Would you want to risk being Tuvix'd with Wesley?
They used a lot of scenes form Encounter at Farpoint on this as well when the saucer separation was taking place
Once again leiutenent commander Data saves everyone.
I’m kinda glad they updated the computer to talk with Mrs Trois voice 😊
You'd think the fact the voice of the computer was Wesley with his voice lowered and not the normal voice would lead one to believe there was a computer error lol
They could have separated the saucer and sent the drive section out the starbase. You'd have still lost the drive section but you wouldn't lose the saucer
The green screen on this show is so good. You can't tell it's been green screened.
That's because it wasn't - it was blue screened :p
i see an error in the making of this scene, when mr data is announcing the abandon ship warning, it cuts to the place where there are two crew members, and if u look at the window u will see the warp core is online , but when they were in the enginering the warp core was offline.
That's because the shot of the two crewmembers is actually recycled from an earlier episode, "Where No One Has Gone Before".
Awesome. The jacked the Enterprise.
Not the first time, wont be the last.
Grand Theft: Starship. 😆😆
Didn't know the Enterprise had air brakes ...
