Craze is the man hands down.He was ripped off in 97 dmc.Came back and tore it apart for the next 5 years. The only one to take the world 3 times in a row and solo.Haters go on and hate but I knew he was a champ before he got there.
Right. If there wasn't an issue with the turntable at DMC 1997, I think he would have took US nationals that year. That's not to take anything away from Slyce because he is NICE with it. Both are legends in my mind.
He fucken smashed, innovative and original, not many dj will ever be as good as craze in battling, pure talent. Btw. he made amazing progress between 96-98. Crazey :)
dude, that's what i was all about :D most of us have amazing talent's but only some have the balls to drag it further and progress. Not all of us have good conditions to develop their talents too. In conclusion, life sometimes sucks lol
Craze was refreshing in those days. Most of the turntablists were beginning to all sound like Q-Bert knockoffs to me. He brought the flavor and originality on top of the technicality.
For some reason, the Perverts changed their routine for that battle, from the one they had in the Eastern Hemisphere battle. If they'd kept the best half of the old routine, and combined it with the best half of the new routine, they would've taken the title.
Yo, thank you for this video - curious if this is the actual ITF finals that was in NYC at club Twillo as this looks like the set I remember as it was first time seeing Dj Craze from MIA .. that same night Q-Bert did a presentation and I think he only used one turntable and it sounded like 4... I do not the late 90s was bubbling with the elements in nycizzle .. salute to the rock steady anniversaries too... great moment in hiphop foundation developmental ...
Hey, if anyone is wondering why Craze never defended his title in '99, or competed in another ITF battle after this, it was because he dissed the ITF organizer, Alex "Uncle Al" Aquino (former Skratch Piklz manager), in a British Hip hop magazine called Big Daddy, at the end of '98, or start of '99. he was talking about how cheap he was, putting the competitors in shitty hotels, and not giving them proper prizes. He tried to deny it, after the magazine came out, saying the magazine had made it up, but nobody believed him. By the way, does anyone know what record he is scratching over at the start? Also, the name of the record with the kung fu movie dialogue?
i was the ITF VP at that time and Alex' Partner. We did actually have the tape of the interview he did with big daddy. so the story is true. Never the less though, we all squashed the beef though. Crazy is truly one of the best to ever do it. And i really was happy for him after he been robbed at several battles over the years. I'm honored to have given him the ITF Platform when he started killing everything from the pre lims in NY to the world finals in Amsterdam. The man is incredible.
the second two are bdp my philosphy (sp) - dj babu duck breaks the rest where mostly dirt style records by qbert relax and prepare for take off is by dj styles - the children record was bugs bunny
Turntablism is wack nowadays❗️Any fool can buy a dj-in-a-box and start pressing buttons-fuck that. Flipping records and needle dropping is gone. The laptop cues up all the tracks and matches the bpm’s. Hand, eye, ear coordination is minimalized and therefore the skill is gone. Lets go back to the essence. Rip turntablism & roc raida👎🏿
these sets are waaaaay ahead of its time. 20 years later it still kills.
Still The Best D.J. Of All Time!!!!!!!!!!!
20 anos depois. .ainda nao vi melhor que DJ craze 👍👍 o cara e um monstro nas pick ups....melhor de todos ❤DJ CRAZE
My favourite routine of all time - got the VHS, so glad to see this again!
One thing about craze is that his volumes are always right, the mix is super consistent.
That's cus he was also djing not just doing turntablism do his mixing skills are on point too
Craze is one of the Greatest of ALL TIME!

Anth NM I don’t see any lies in your comment.
Do you guys see the Mix Master Mike influence?
You mean 'hear'?
What about his style is influenced from mix master mike?
I can tell Craze studied mad DJs. I think that's why he couldn't be beat. He knows many styles and how to mesh them together.
Def ! his body language

Props to MrMaxPounder! I have this on VHS and was stressing about how to transfer the best parts to digital. Great quality.
I too was there. Great gig. Melkweg, Amsterdam. The team battles were the best - Scratch perverts vs Beat Junkies was epic.
For some reason, the Perverts changed their routine for that battle, from the one they had in the Eastern Hemisphere battle. If they'd kept the best half of the old routine, and combined it with the best half of the new routine, they would've taken the title.
Thanx Man!!!!!
anyone know what record the “D’ya like funky scratching” sample is from? 4:00
Malcolm Mclaren , or do you mean what battle record was it on?

I just love the bragging attitude that he has when battlin!!!!!!!!!!! That's what real hip hop is about!!!!!!!!!! Proving you're the best regardless.

I thought his DMC win in the same year was good but this one is 100% times better
Somebody knows what beat is that at 1:00?????
Hence the name.
This was one of the worst one sided ass beatings in DJ Battle history......
CRAZY!!!
Hey, what's the beat that comes in at 4:01?
I think it's on black market snuff breaks. Definitely a dirt style one.
