Me! I played with CRAZE at Plush in Dallas 2009. Was crazy. The venue screwed us both on our money. We had lots of fun and I ate his shrimp in the hotel attached to the club. We played on a funktion 1 sound system. I also saw CRAZE many times before that and was a hero of mine when he used to play raves. Insane times I tell ya.
There will never be another qbert. He did try really hard to inspire people to scratch. Craze is incredible, but not the same. qbert is the undefeated scratch king.

Two of the best to ever do it,period!!! I never met Q but I met Craze and asked him how he got so good. His response was that while the kids were out partying,he was at home practicing. Still true this day and something I always remember. Thank you both for this display of technique and art. Thank you also to the person that posted this,new subscriber here.
Awesome, I never saw this video. These are my 2 favorite DJs! Unlike many other famous DJs, these guys are extremely skilled, friendly, humble, motivated, and just amazing in every way! I've been a big fan of both for 20 years, and nobody else compares to these guys in my mind.

One beat juggle routine by Qbert is all it takes to silence critiques about his juggling skills. Nobody touches that routine. If you check all the crazy shit he does with just those 2 records then you will know why he doesn't have to pull out multiple routines to prove a point. He set that bar way too high... Even Craze admits that Q is on some alien shit with the juggles.
Trust me, Craze was being diplomatic. Q can juggle, but he's NO WHERE near Craze with juggling. Even DJ Babu says Craze is the greatest all-around turntablist ever...and I agree with him.

I noticed this back in the day while Qbert and everybody was still scratching Jazz beats or Frestyle hi nrg , Craze was scratching Drum n bass which already sounded crazy just playing the record and not scratching or juggling it

This is a true gem. Look at one of the turntables- it is barely on the table! I also like all the guys in the background. I think they should keep these competitions true vinyl only, even the DVS does not sound the same. Plus, once you put the songs on software- you lose all the needle positioning stuff, which Craze used to great effect in this video. Sometimes limitations lead to innovation.
DMC returned with the only vinyl categorie. Besides sound quality you can do thé same thing with dvs. Even needle drop. You have that option in every software. In the one I use is call absoluto mode. The controller vinyl replicates the song like in a true vinyl. The begining of the song is in the begining of the record. You needle drop like teu vinyl.
That is on purpose, there would be layers of cloth or foam like things on the table, which would reduce vibration. Obviously the feet of the deck are designed to do that, but they aren't designed to do that while a Lunatic like Qbert is abusing every facet of the equipment. You'll see similar things in more modern set ups where layers of memory foam or (A real Oldschool approach) Beer mats/coasters, are under the feet. To stop the bass from the speakers vibrating the table and making it skip.
Have segments of this event on a vhs but it didn't have their whole sets. I had only heard Razorblade Alcohol Slide... it was dope to see Q perform it! Thanks for sharing!

Both are amazing turntablist . Difference here was qbert used his turntable as an instrument and craze didn’t . Qbert did some beat juggling did some tricks like craze did but when Q started drumming and turned his 1200 into an instrument , qbert showed everyone why he is the best .Craze is still one of the best djs of all time he is definitely in my top 10 in the world

I love both.. Maybe a little more craze but q with this performance is unfvckable. I mean no one of this planet could outperform qbert with 1 mixer and 1 turntable! Qs handcontrol with the right hand is godlike..

Crazy is an overall better DJ while Q is the better turntablist/scratcher imo

Both are amazing turntablist . Difference here was qbert used his turntable as an instrument and craze didn’t . Qbert did some beat juggling did some tricks like craze did but when Q started drumming and turned his 1200 into an instrument , qbert showed everyone why he is the best .Craze is still one of the best djs of all time he is definitely in my top 10 in the world
Dude.. I;'ve seen em both & Craze IS the BEST turntablist all time no doubt.. 2 DMC championships for Q 3 for Craze.. Love em Both but there is a reason Craze is only one to win 3 years in a row..
Both are off the hook though & aint taking nothing from Q..
