Live at Daryl's is one interpretation for musicians of heaven. You go to a perfect studio, filled with musicians who know your music - they sing it with you and make your sound your best.
@@barryanderson3910 I have been introduced to some great talents that I would have never known. I had my breath taken away when I heard (never a fan earlier) Todd Rungdren in the episode from his Hawaiian home (Last Ride esp).
@@SadieCo149 Absolutely right on being introduced to new talent. And their work is really amplified and put on great display by Daryl and company. Just a few of the artists new to me were Grace Potter, Neon Trees, Chuck Prophet, and Rumer. Established artists I really enjoyed seeing included Joe Walsh, Smokey, Booker T. and the O'Jays.
It definitely is. I'm glad I found it when they had most of the episodes fully intact on the website. I spent a lot of time there watching the episodes over and over. Besides the music, I loved the interviews and cooking segments, especially when they all sat down to eat and chew the fat. Now, post syndication, there are only a few episodes left on the website. A whole heck of a lot of individual songs on UA-cam, though. I'm glad of that.
Barry Anderson....I wish Daryl Hall had been able to keep this going forever. Started out a podcast and ended up on Palladium cable tv channel. I live in New York and would've loved to have seen his place. I also loved the episodes that featured cooking, where everyone sat down to eat afterwards. Have always been popular with musicians because I love to cook, and think there's no better twosome than good food and great music. Thanks for the stress relief, Jamal; we all need and appreciate it.
@@trismaccarran9950 I don't think I watched more than 1 or 2 episodes when they started syndicating the episodes on Palladium. The original full episodes were sliced up, I think, to fit the needs of cable and some of the segments were not shown. I don't know whether they kept in many of the cooking segments or not. I too wish he could have kept it going. However, I do think his ultimate goal was to sell everything, because, as Joe Walsh said in his episode, no one can make any money in the business anymore, at least not in the traditional ways, and that music artists are now on their own. Apparently Daryl was enough of an entrepreneur to find a way to keep going, other than (or in addition to) constantly touring. The show sure was incredible and unique, though.
I've seen many of Daryl's House including this. This just SMOKES of groove. These brothers sound better today than when they released it back in the day. Add Daryl and you have a new hit for today.
You're right about that drummer, Brian Dunne. A veteran of the Hall and Oates live band, all these guys are, But "Scowl" Dunne sits back there while they talk over the parts and arrangement, listens, and when he clicks those sticks together it's on ! And he never misses a beat. By all means, watch the full episodes. They have a chef come in and trade tales and laugh and joke around the dinner table, so cool. These are guys who are at the top of their craft, getting together and having a really good time. Brilliant concept from Daryl !
Jamel, I told you the episode with The O'Jays at Daryl's House was not to be missed. Soooo, sooooo good. I Like Music is waiting to be heard/experienced.
Yes, they really turned it on for *I love Music* - great jam!!! @Jamel Check out the O'Jays new guy, Eric Nolan Grant on YT. His song *Reminds Me* is kickin' and comes with a dance! 🎵 Edit: ua-cam.com/video/y41_sXTHqq0/v-deo.html
My favorite part of that episode was that they were not totally sure who they were jamming with. What a pleasure for the O’Jays to walk into a room with a group of wildly talented, disciplined master musicians who love and respect you and your music. The song sounded ridiculous. What a treat.
Yes, Love Train is a must, and a very positive message---right up Jamel's alley. Peace Train, too, by Cat (Yousef) Stevens. You know, we sure could use more songs today with positive messages!
That’s class my man. I absolutely love the O’Jays and was extremely blown away seeing them on live from Daryl’s house. I grew up back in the 60s and 70s listening to stuff like this with my dad. It just doesn’t get any better than the O’jays.
Oh my god, I've just been to music heaven!! I love that song by the O'jays and all their music. My goose bumps matched yours Jamel. How can all of these guys ( Darryl included) still sing like this?? 😃...unbelievable!!
Live from Daryl's House is sooo good. Love watching real musicians play real music. Would love to see your reaction to Todd Rundgren's Sweet from Daryl's House. Next level stuff!
Every day I am in awe of true musicians. They hear every note, every instrument, at any tempo. They know what's on or off. They know the songs, so well, they can improvise. And every good musical jam - long-time band or just folks getting together - play as ONE. Every single sports team tries to play as one, to rather limited success. But music joins us together, and singing and playing as one is natural and good for us all.
That's Mr. Walter Lee Williams in the gray jacket. He and Eddie Levert are the original members of the O'Jays. I saw them in concert in the 1970's, amazing concert!
Nothing better than a live jam session to show your true talent. I was blessed growing up listening to Hall and Oats as well as watching Soul Train on Saturday mornings as a child. Our home was always full of great music.
I am proud to say when you first experienced at Daryl's house I said you have to check this one out. Glad you did & I bet you are also glad you did. The live band & performances at Daryl's house is really something special. Next with the O'Jays at Daryls house is love train I hope
Even though this session was not the session at Daryl's house with the O'Jays I wanted you to react to....the song that they did was pretty good and it was the first song I heard on the radio from The O'Jays and fell in Love with them....again...in my opinion the best jam was "Love Train." Yeah.......... and at 65 I still have my singing voice. Hahaha....lol....hahaha....Thank the Lord!!! hahaha
So awesome! I still have my singing voice at 54, and I'm beyond grateful for that. It's a muscle so constant exercise keeps it. Look at Tom Jones, he's 80 and still has his powerful voice.
I think this is my favorite of them all! Love this song loves these people!!! You can tell they were transported, it was awesome!! Thanks for reacting to this one! In the end there they are just jamming, so into it! God, I love this, you can tell they had a fantastic time at Daryl's house! Me too with the chills, lol one of the O'jays, said " We been doin this wrong" lmao!
I love your reactions to this fantastic music. You don’t just listen to it, you feel it and even act it out. You’re the best Jamal!! Don’t stop doing what you do.👏👏👏
During this whole episode Eddie wants to riff with Daryl at the end of every song. It’s amazing how at the beginning of the episode the O’Jays are skeptical about jamming with Daryl. By the end of the show you can see how much they enjoyed the experience. This episode is one of my favorite.

Daryl LOVES to share. Its what makes him so special. You must see him singing "Me and Mrs. Jones" . He doesn't just sing, he testifies!
