Can we just talk for a minute about the powerful voice of Eddie Levert!?!? He is such an amazing, authentic, showman!! He gives all the songs a grounding effect with his gravelly, sexy, natural talent. His voice is an instrument, played perfectly in each song!! They have been together for so many years... and it shows in all the performances they do.
I know I know there's nothing there's nothing from the house though that wasn't good that wasn't gold they've had everybody on their pick up the pieces with all that brass oh damn dude that are knock you but yeah it's all good they had the ZZ Top Dusty O'Jays Smokey Rob Thomas I mean come on
My husband came in here because he heard this. He’s a musician. He is now looking up the Daryls House series. I get the feeling we will be jammin later. I gotta find my mic box. Thanks, Jamel. 👏🏻👩🏻🦰✌🏻
Oh, JAMEL!! The O'Jays are still in Daryl's House...and they' singing YOUR theme song, "I Love Music"!! I'm already picturing you dancing to it! Yessah!! I just wanna go live there!!
Yeah man that whole 49 minute video is awesome. Man I wish they still had shows like this on tv. Pretty damn awesome for 70 year olds still killing it like that.
Oh man LEGENDS The O'Jay's & the legendary daryl oates under one roof, man absolutely brilliant, the lyrics in this song is so damn true & I've loved the O'Jay's all my life ever since my dad brought me up on them since I was a kid, please listen to backstabbers by the O'Jay's cos its another classic by the O'Jay's & yes Jamel the O'Jay's did do for the love of money originally, hope that helps 👍
indychauffuer that’s a great remix, and I would love to see Jamel react to it sometime... but my suggestion was specifically for the song as performed on Live From Daryl’s House, so he could experience the interplay between the O’Jays and Daryl Hall.
One of the best songs ever! Never heard this version. I like it. I remember doing the bump to this song back in the 70s. Anyone remember doing the bump?
O'Jays still amazing!! What voices and o much groove! Temptations visited Daryl's house too!! Thanks for the trip on the wayback machine! Throwbackness with a modern touch!
Oooooh yeeeeaaaaahhhhh!!!!! I had chills in the first 10 seconds! I remember this coming out on the radio (I am getting on in years) but dang! this still sounds fresh and speaks as loud as it did then. I still have gooseflesh on my arms-- this is just bliss!!!! Oh, blessings to all of you!!!!
Original bass line by the great Anthony Jackson! You recognize it immediately by the first 2 notes...Classic! (my first single (45) I bought was 'Put Your Hands Together' from the mighty O'Jays in 1973...I was 11 years old...)
This was the first episode I saw of Daryl's house and I was all in! I took my 14 year old niece to see the O'Jays in 2019, I wanted to make sure she seen all the greats! I schooled her in music, she knows more than some four times her age! They were on their game suits, dance moves & all. So happy you did this one!
Oh hell yes!!!! Omg! My body is a weaving and a rockin for an encore!!!!! Dam good! I am loving the visit to Daryls house.. Use the heck out of that 🔑 brother Jamel 😳
This entire episode of Live from Darryl's House is probably one of the best live performances I have ever seen. Everybody go watch the whole thing. Backstabbers is awesome!
The first time I heard this song...my friend popped the 8-track tape in the player in his Dodge Charger. Yeah, let's ride. And yep, it's an O'Jays' original song.
Watching the entire episodes is worthwhile. Maybe not for a reaction, but I always found it interesting because they included some of the setup and arranging of the songs. They also always ate something together and talked.
the food is one of the most important parts of the show Daryl gets a chef to come and make a special meal suited for the guest musicians they sit around the table and eat and drink and tell stories they are together all day to end up with one hour of music which is still pretty cool--it's like recording an entire album in ONE DAY. LIVE.
If you watch the full episodes you'll see it's an all day jam. After a few hours Daryl cooks for all his guests and have a big sit down dinner and they all share memories. Good stuff.
You can't add to perfection. I remember going to one of their concerts back in the day when they were with The Four Tops, The Whispers, and The Temptations. Great video.
one of my favorite shows on axs tv. the mix of guest musicians is incredible. and darryl is always so cool you feel like they're playing in your living room . and he always makes some kind of crazy food on every episode. NOT to be missed.still got my original ojays greatest hits on vinyl. so good and bad !
One thing about the LFDH show is respect. By respect, I mean just how much Darryl has for SOOOO many artists. And just how many artists want to jam with Darryl. Show's been going since like 04, and has had a loooong list of peeps jamming like it's the best thing since sliced bread. That's just cool.
As a long haired rocker in the 70’s, I never turned this off when it came on the radio.
Man I love 70s music!!!
The O'JAY'S at Daryl's House is gold.
Yeah...those guys have years of professionalism that is evident throughout their performance 🥰
Totally freakin' awesome!!!
I repeat. No drum machines, no autotune, no computer bs, just RAW TALENT and greatness!
No rehearsals either, by the conversation before it. These guys are all pros. They all hit it out of the park.
Grooving off each other...Love it!!
A rare sight!

"For a small piece of paper it carries a lot of weight." Truer words were never spoken.
Once you get into Darryl's House, it's hard to leave Darryl's House.
You know that’s right!
Would love to be a squatter there!
I know I know there's nothing there's nothing from the house though that wasn't good that wasn't gold they've had everybody on their pick up the pieces with all that brass oh damn dude that are knock you but yeah it's all good they had the ZZ Top Dusty O'Jays Smokey Rob Thomas I mean come on
BJW Nashe I find to be true. 🤣
You got that right, and then some!!!
One of the best music shows
My husband came in here because he heard this. He’s a musician. He is now looking up the Daryls House series. I get the feeling we will be jammin later. I gotta find my mic box. Thanks, Jamel. 👏🏻👩🏻🦰✌🏻

OJay”s are gold !! Daryl’s house is the best!
As soon as that bass riff starts you KNOW we're in for something special! The Sound of Philadelphia, my friends. Can't be beat.
My favorite Darryls house episode!! The O'Jays still got it!!
It's a classic. Yes O'Jays song. Nasty bass line. more O'Jays. One of the great soul groups ever. Backstabbers and Love Train also monster hits.
Those two songs were also part of the set at DARYL’S HOUSE. Both fantastic IMHO.
One of the most awesome bass lines ever!!
One of the most iconic bass lines EVER... as in EVER! Listen to those harmonies!
The O'Jays were part of what was called the Philadelphia sound. So smooth, so funky. Please reach to Backstabbers and Love Train.
TSOP gamble and huff produced the Ojays biggest hits. sigma sounds studios in philly.
How cool is Darryl for getting all these great cats together week after week? And how much fun are they all having?
He gives them good food too.
Omg! that bass line is just dripping. love it
Oh…to be just a fly on the wall!!? Anytime, at Daryls House…thank you. ♥️
Oh, JAMEL!! The O'Jays are still in Daryl's House...and they' singing YOUR theme song, "I Love Music"!! I'm already picturing you dancing to it! Yessah!! I just wanna go live there!!

One of my favorites, all time favorites. The mighty, mighty O Jays. Awesome
Man, those old folks can still belt out those songs!!!!!
Right!!!
Daryl's house has been blessed with greatness. Love this series.
One of the best R&B groups of all time. Great performance
I've been watching Daryl's House since he started it as a web broadcast. The O'Jays were one of my favorite episodes.
If you made an hour long video, I'd still watch it. You and the music are a joy to witness :)
Now you *gotta* at least see “Backstabbers” from this same episode...trust me !
Love that song 🎶🎵🎵🎶❤🎶🎶🎵
Definitely.
Yes! It’s worth a reaction!

They sound fantastic!!
What got me into Daryls house 11 years ago was the Todd Rundgren sets. Hearing his voice like 30 years later was amazing.
All from philly..... all epic.....
Thanks for posting this! The bass, the harmonies, it’s impossible to say what I loved the most!
I don't want to be one of the people complaining about music nowadays but something lacking today is what you said. Harmony.
One of the best songs ever! Never heard this version. I like it. I remember doing the bump to this song back in the 70s. Anyone remember doing the bump?

Too awesome for further description! This was pure GOLD!
I'm such a massive O'Jay fan. Loved all of it.
For the love of music...the talent, the groove, the brotherhood! Whole episode is Worthy, I'll sit and and watch, again!
The whole set is magic......🎶🎶
Darryl's drummer is DOPE
Oooooh yeeeeaaaaahhhhh!!!!! I had chills in the first 10 seconds! I remember this coming out on the radio (I am getting on in years) but dang! this still sounds fresh and speaks as loud as it did then. I still have gooseflesh on my arms-- this is just bliss!!!! Oh, blessings to all of you!!!!
That intro is absolutely unmistakable! I hear that and I know what kind of groove I’m going to be dancing to! Woohoo!!!!!🙌🏽🙌🏽

Fantastic music from the past
PLEEEEEEEEASE listen to "Love Train" at Darryl's at some point. That's their BIG song.
Let the music play.
Doggeslife That one is AWESOME from that session. It’s amazing the way they still sound.
The O'Jays may be the most underappreciated band of all time. They made so much amazing music.
This is one of the best shows Daryl House just shows his influences and how he still got it.
PLEASE keep doing Daryl's house as much as possible ! It's real ! It's the good stuff !
A Masterpiece. Still Very Relevant Today.
I have several O'Jay's CDs. Hit song after hit song from this Awesome Group!!
Thank you for showing the world that color doesn’t matter! Talented musicians and singers coming together for the love of music 💕💕
Thanks so much, Jamel! Grew up listening to the O'Jays, Spinners, Sly and the family Stone and so many others.
Good lord that band was so tight. Sounds JUST like the darn studio single. Fantastic. I HAVE to go watch Daryl's House on tv.
Live at Daryl's House is an awesome format.

I REFUSE to believe that Eddie, Walter and Daryl are in their mid 70's!
One of the best bass lines of all time.
WOW! This is absolutely outstanding!
Eddie Levert can still belt out those calls.
Yeah man. That's still a hall-of-fame bassline too. This is some grown-man Philly soul here.
Bro, Daryl’s band is TIGHT!!😎
When we see those dimples that much, can tell it’s really hitting you! LOVE how much you loved this! 😄 This is special!

Dodge Charger ❤. Those were the days.
I miss my 68 charger.
@Denise Uhlry i wish!
The Black Same here, Dad's '70 Charger (plum crazy), 8 track tape, O' Jays. Those were the days.
I guess driving a baby blue 66 Dodge Dart in 1972 keeps me out of the cool kid club!!!
I would still jam to this song!
I'd be prostrate on the floor in the presence of such greatness.
OH EM GEE!
Watching the entire episodes is worthwhile. Maybe not for a reaction, but I always found it interesting because they included some of the setup and arranging of the songs. They also always ate something together and talked.

one of the top episodes on Daryl's House. And they're all great!!!!
We get to hear the greats, live, high quality. It’s awesome

One of my favorite songs by the O'Jays, made even better with Daryl's house band of amazing players! 🧡
Wow! I didn't know whether to watch them enjoying singing & playing or watch Jamel enjoying watching them 😁😁😁
I’ve watched every Daryl’s House at least twice on TV. I love love love watching these again with all of you. This one is especially fabulous!
I saw these guys live in my hometown in the late 90s. This is one of my all time favorite songs and this rendition at Daryl's house is smokin!
MAN THANKS FOR PLAYING THIS, HOPE THE YOUNGER GENERATIONS CAN SEE THIS ,JUST AMAZING PARTY THERE
My favorite episode of Daryl's House. The magnificent O'Jays. I saw them live last year. Awesome.
You can't add to perfection. I remember going to one of their concerts back in the day when they were with The Four Tops, The Whispers, and The Temptations. Great video.
To put it plainly, your channel brings us all together. Its nice. You’re doing a good job sir. Thank you.
That's what Daryl Hall is doing,,,keeping great music alive. Wouldn't it be nice to be there.
