Great video thank you. I picked one up for 22 quid from a painter friend of mine who it was given to him from the house owner in bad condition here in South Africa and after watching your video mine is working and looks like new, thank you again, cheers.
Thanks for sharing this, I’ve always wondered how those headless guitars worked, I’ve never even seen one up close. No end to your talents, I see you are a luthier too!
Nice video springy, I was thinking of getting one of these and this is a nice video all about The Jack :) Any idea of when this one was first released?
You get a version with a head stock with a licensed stienberger bridge it’s called the b-bass mine even has a d tuner I also have a jack , its only the bridge that’s under license not the headless system
Thank you, I didn t know it was just the bridge .. But what a great piece of kit it is .. I have another two I'm building now using hohner doners.. it seems wrong to destroy hohners for parts but there are no short scale headless hohners or steinbergers so I'm building my own.. I will maybe try a drop d tune version one day ..of course it'll be drop c for me as I normally tune to concert D to help with singing live .. Thanks for the input .. Peace and love brother 👍🏻☮❤
I‘ve borrowed the same bass form a friend, and it is pretty bad shape. The biggest problem tough is that the neck is convex. But there’s something missing on the top of the neck, means I can’t make the neck straight. Does somebody has an idea of what I can do now?
it has a truss rod access through the hole in the string retainer nut. 4mm Allen key , turn right to take out the relief, left to increase relief. I think its a two way truss rod. If its beyond adjustment it'll need clamping to a bench. Daves world of fun stuff has lots of videos on this subject.. when it's beyond normal adjustment.
Loving this. I use to own one, and really miss it. Can anyone say how 'thick' the neck is. Its suppose to be a 'C' profile but i remember it as being much thicker than the C profile basses i've since owned. Could it be classed as a 'D' profiled neck? If anyone out there owns one of these beauts, could you shared the thickness or depth of the neck at the nut and at the 12th fret. I would really appreciate this.
Yes I would thoroughly recommend one but make sure all the electronics work they are quite complex ..they were made in the Cort factory in Korea in the 80s and 90s as far as I can research ..its all a bit vague....theres a company in the USA who do spares as parts are pretty much impossible to get hold of even on the new steinberger spirit models which are made by Cort in Korea under Gibson's wing... But yes as long as it works I would buy it ..the necks are quite fat d shaped lumps like a baseball bat but you soon get used to them...cheers buddy I will look up the USA spares company and put the info on this video description ..👍🏻☮❤
Boiling strings ?? Does that work with all types of strings springy or just the big fat moonty ones, you bass players have ?? And what's that about you being quirky. Who said that ??
I used dish washing liquid and water and boiled my very old strings for 15 minutes and the sprang to life while I am waiting for a new set which is difficult to get in South Africa. Actually the new strings cost me twice as much as what I paid for the guitar which works great, thank you.

Hi. I want to buy a Hohner The Jack custom 5 string Bass. I found one for a fair price in my country. Do you recommend them? Where are they made in?

Volgnit
Yep it works with all metal strings particularly the "wound" ones it releases dirt from between the windings 👍❤😁☮❤
@@springy-2112 with vinegar for good measure, this cuts the grease which builds up on the strings and dulls the sound.

cheers Chris i never knew about vinegar, makes perfect sense ..👍🏻☮❤
