Expendables 3 was the weakest of the trilogy. As much as I love Mel Gibson, I didn't really buy him as a villain. They also spent way too much time focusing on the younger characters, which wouldn't have been that much of an issue if said characters were likable.
@laverdadescatolica5 Yeah, which ties into making the third movie PG-13. They didn’t understand their audience even though their audience was right in front of them stating the obvious.
I agree. Besides that part 3 tried to set up a new cast and Stallone was talking about promoting new 'real' action stars instead of sticking to the concept. He should have stuck to his guns and get Nick Cage or someone like that. Instead of that he got more cgi than in Marvel movies and some fighting scenes. Those type of movies you watch at home and that genre is not relevant anymore. It wasn't already when part 1 came out but part 1 and 2 had cool cast.
Iko Uwais was wasted in this film. Literally an actual action hero who had to be nerfed because Statham has a “I can’t be punched” clause in his contract to massage his ego. Action stars are pointless these days haha.
They could’ve brought in Nicolas Cage, Danny Trejo, Pierce Brosnan, Antonio Banderas, Samuel L. Jackson, Linda Hamilton, Jackie Chan, Robert Patrick, Kurt Russell, LL Cool J, Liam Neeson, Donnie Yen, Milla Jovovich, Mark Wahlberg or so many other actual action stars
@@SilentMerc331 Never in a million years would Tom Cruise agree to be in an Expandables movie. That's below his own standard. But you could get Al Pacino. He was in an Adam Sandler movie … And Nicholas Cage still has to pay back his debts from the 2008 financial crisis. He'd definitely take part. I'm actually surprised he wasn't asked by now.
Brosnan had agreed to be in a proposed Expendables film back in 2015 but that fell through. Jackie Chan said he'd rather do a film with just him and Stallone. Banderas was in 3 and clearly was meant to be in 4 [as one of the characters is his son]. I'm surprised Liam Neeson never appeared in one of these given he's still churning out action films.

Kinda shame how it all went downwards after the second movie. Both Jaa and Uwais could have made this epic again but the script and other cast destroyed the potential big time...
Ideally, that should be a self-aware joke, like Spinal Tap naming a song "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight". But that's giving EXPEND4BLES more credit than it deserves.

Expendables 2 is the only one I rewatch and feels like a completel package. Best cast, best action, best fanservice. Everything else always felt like something was missing.
Agree. Also I have to say the 2nd movie has pretty good cinematography. It feels like they actually cared about making it. Also Van Damme is pretty cool as the villain
2 really is the only one that feels like it lives up to the premise: Just seeing the old heads get together and just do their thing, and not take themselves seriously. The first one definitely took itself too seriously. The 3rd one essentially went against their own premise by focusing on a younger cast (none of whom were really action stars). This 4th one just felt aimless. With the exception of Jet Li's glorified cameo, everyone had legit time to shine, and we got a wicked scene of seeing Sly, Arnold AND Willis just share the screen as the action stars they are.
It's messed up that Terry Crews wasn't in the film because of the sexual assault thing that happened to him, and the producers didn't want him back because of it. It's not like he's going to randomly mention it on set or bring it up alot.
He didn't want the big suits s.a. him anymore, so they said he can't be part of their Hollywood bs anymore. He's the only one in the cast that's against it.
Theres a double standard when it comes to a man complaining about sexual abuse. Now if a woman experienced that, she would've gotten paid and more movie roles
@AaronHernandez1 Part 2 was the only one I bothered purchasing. The first was "ok" I don't need to ever see it again, and 3 was trash. After this DT review I definitely won't bother even seeing part 4.
The only way the 100 million dollar budget makes sense is if stallone got 40 Million for his 10 mins of screentime, Statham got 25 Million, the rest of the expendables got 20 million, and the remaining 15 mil went to making the movie
The fact that John wick chapter 4 has the same budget manage to show their production value perfectly with all the action, cinematography and location.
That's so crazy 🤣🤣🤣 I actually didn't hate this movie. If it was made for 5-10 mil I'd actually say it was a success. But 10 Mil, where tf is that money?? Not on the screen ! That's for sure

The best thing was SPOILERS: Stallone loses his ring to a little person in a thumb war, comes back and beats his ass to get it back, STEALS HIM, throws him in the pilot seat of a downed plane to die on impact and burn, and used his burnt corpse with his ring back on it to fake his own death after scaring and depressing all his friends thinking he's dead for days. Although I had no interest in watching this, I feel they should've included JeeJa Yanin in this. The female Tony Jaa. She deserves way more work. Expendables 2 is the best out of this series.
23:56 reminds me of Machete when Danny Trejo uses the ramp and shoots his guns attached to his motorcycle and back then, they made that as a parody to scenes like this 😂😂😂
My favorite cameo is the ship from Winter Soldier. Imagine if halfway through the movie a predator shows up or any of them would've made them more interesting and live up to the name.
The codename for the villain is: Ocelot, and I'll be damned they were really made Garcia dressed up similar like Revolver Ocelot from Metal Gear Solid 3😂
Earlier this year, I had no doubt that Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and The Flash would make millions of dollars at the box office based on the popularity of the established property. However, when I noticed that these movies failed it inspired me to make a film documentary about how as of September, 2023, audiences are not paying anymore money at the box office to sequels to a franchise that’s played out. Expendables 4 also counts. Audiences want to watch movies that are authentic and genuine. That’s where movies like Elemental, The Blackening, and No Hard Feelings succeeded in their victories at the box office.
I wouldn't really consider Elemental much of a success story. It had a hell of a comeback, but it barely broke even in the box office in this theatrical run in the end. And the story is fine, but very safe in certain areas (it should have learned more on the immigrant angle).
I actually liked the new transformer movie. The others were enjoyable but this movie was ridiculous. They literally pulled this movie out of the depths of hell to make a quick profit.
Barbie & Oppenheimer probably would've been the better examples to use. Niether Elemental nor No Hard Feelings made a big profit & The Blackening didnt really hit big either. Sequels aren't an issue as plenty of them succeeded (John Wick 4, Creed 3, GOTG 3, Spiderverse 2, Nun 2) it really comes down to audience interest in your brand & keeping the budgets down. That's where movies like Flash, Indiana Jones, Transformers & Mission Impossible failed.
Between this, the recent Indiana Jones movie, and whatever action film Liam Nesson is in (that's still trying to capitalize on Taken's success), I guess the audience is getting tired of action movies starring actors in their 70's and 80's.
Don't forget Denzel with the Equalizer. Even though it preformed well it's cringe watching Denzel still doing action movie movies beating up rooms of trained thugs half his age.
Escape Plan is looking pretty damn good after this. If you havent seen Cliffhanger definitely check that out instead because more Stallone movies needed snowboarding stoner Rosencrantz and Gildenstern characters.
I had the same exact reaction when they revealed the last bit, straight up murderers. To be fair Statham ran out of bullets when he confronted Garcia but who cares lol
Funny thing Jason Statham has a Stuntman background & was shitting on the MCU for years saying all the Lead Actors are not Action Stars & only act behind Green Screen when in turn his last 5 movies like this & The Megs have been Green Screen heavy hot messes😂😭
if hollyweird was smart, they should’ve kept statham but do a passing of the torch & use action stars from 00-2010. that could’ve been a logical move since the original had action stars from the 80’s & 90’s statham could’ve taken over for sly & life goes on.hollyweird doesn’t know when to move on from a idea.
I saw it on friday because i was bored after work and didn't want to go home yet. I should've went home. I agree with most of what Corey said. Omg what a mess.
I'd say something clever about about this movie and how bad it is but I'm not going to put the effort in because clearly no effort was put into this film or films like this, I just mainly feel sad more than anything because the nose dive for the actors integrity going this low for a Paycheck and for people who actually went to theatres and paid for this crap
3 positives for Expendables 4 I could say for me were Jason Statham killing henchman on the boat was dope, Tony Jaa & Statham teaming up was dope (wish it was longer) & Statham vs Iko Uwais final fight was pretty good (wished it was longer) other than that meh lol.
There was a scene when Statham was in a suit looking like the Transporter again, he was doing security Made me miss and want one more ride with Frank Martin kicking butt
Man Hollywood is wasting my man Iko Uwais in these generic ass action movies, First Mile 22, then Snake Eyes, now this shit. And when I think of modern action stars, I always thought of Megan Fox and 50 Cent 😆.
17:56 "No one knew them for action before". But certainly after because one of the young members was Glen Powell who would later be in Top Gun: Maverick! 18:05 "Scott Eastwood was one of them! " NO! He is not in any of The Expendables movies! You probably meant Kellan Lutz! 18:11 What are you suggesting? Are you talking about Ronda Rousey again? Because Ronda Rousey was FIRST in The Expendables 3 (2014) and THEN in Fast & Furious 7 (2015), notably! In hindsight the casting director for The Expendables 3 (2014) did a pretty phenomenal job, ain't that right? And I haven't even mentioned all the main additions like Antonio Banderas, Wesley Snipes, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford (A YEAR BEFORE The Force Awakens, notably) and so on and so forth....
I’m sorry but 50cent as a action movie star doesn’t work for me it’s a big time slap in the face stick to rapping or producing way more movie stars that could’ve fill the role
Stallone is the only guy his age that’s still believable. It’s just unfortunate he’s had so many injuries and surgeries since making the first Expendables. Expendables 4 really wasn’t that bad either. Not amazing, but not terrible.
They’ve ran out of action stars. Will Smith messed it up for them to use him. Tony Jaa and the Ong Bakk guy was POINTLESS and it was basically a Jason Statham flick!!! 🤦🏿♂️
I was right there laughing along with you about this dogshit taco of a movie up until you mention Kesley Grammer in this. Now I've gotta see Frazier Crane, action hero. "hey baby I feel the blues are calling for bullets and broken legs, oh my!"
Megan Fox probably wishes she had a time machine to travel back to May, 2010 to stay a part of the cast of Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon after watching all the bad reviews for this movie.
I think she really has a good role in Jennifer's Body and the rest was just cause of reputation instead of talent. "Oh ya hire Megan Fox, it'll put butts in seats." Said no sane producer ever
@@JoeChilltonThere’s a movie she did not too long ago called Til Death where I heard she wasn’t bad in. But that’s the only other role where people liked her in. Oh maybe her guest stint on New Girl.
The cast looks horrible. How the hell did Megan Fox end up in this? She's not an action star and neither is 50 Cent. Crazy. They really must have been tryin to save money
Cynthia Rothrock, Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Sammo Hung...all still alive, never been in one of these. It's not like Stallone didnt have options. Shit... Hulk Hogan would do this in a second.
Expendables 2 was the best one in my opinion, I hate that Scott adkins didn't have a great fight scene because Statham has to have a way to win so they gave him an easy way out and the same with iko uwais in pt 4, I wish Tony jaa had been the one to fight iko instead and not need help defeating the villains 2nd in command
1st's the best, no reason not to be serious with the action. 2nd's a parody, 3rd 's barely used M.fkn Gibson and gave us young crew NO ONE came to see. A very Disney-esc moronic decision.
Knew this was going to turn out *bad* when even the Cinema Snob gave it a D-, and that's huge coming from him as his rating of a B- or a C is usually a full blown D for the average film-goer due to the sheer amount of schlock he watches.
I had a feeling this movie wouldn’t be very good. If you’re looking for a fun, over the top action movie that’s well made I highly recommend Bollywood movies. Specifically Pathaan and Jawan which both came out this year 😊
That’s Factz but let’s be fair some of there stuff cringe also but they found a way to perfect it like sniping someone with a cell phone and etc but I love Bollywood films
What 'Classic' action star could they have used in this movie that they have not used already? Who we forgetting?

@@mrmaclovin255 no it wasn't 😄 it is horrible
“If there is a problem DoorDash is quick to fix that”
Yeah they definitely haven’t had to deal with DD customer service before then😂
The first and probably last time I've seen guns on the handles of a dirt bike (equipped with rockets as well) was Chuck Norris in Delta Force.
I love how easy it is to tell the "plot twist" of this movie😂😂
it's like killing off dom in f&f.... it's illegal lol
Korey and Martin at it again lmao the Dynamic Duo vs the Expendables
I'm a Stallone superfan and I could tell this is gonna be a horrible movie. But I'm still gonna see it though
@@elijaharvinger1178 Oh yeah. I forgot about Equalizer. I guess that's the only exception, because who doesn't love Denzel?
@@elijaharvinger1178Except people seem to like the new Equalizer and it did perform well at the box office.
The only good action movies this year was John wick 4 and extraction 2. Oh and mission impossible dead reconning
@@elijaharvinger1178 Hopefully this is the last film for him playing the Equalizer, hopefully.
Escape Plan is looking pretty damn good after this. If you havent seen Cliffhanger definitely check that out instead because more Stallone movies needed snowboarding stoner Rosencrantz and Gildenstern characters.
If they would've had Michael Jai White instead of 50 Cent, It might of been successful.
50 cent is such a has been
I've only ever used Doordash twice and both times they massively messed up my simple 1 or 2 groceries request
I had the same exact reaction when they revealed the last bit, straight up murderers. To be fair Statham ran out of bullets when he confronted Garcia but who cares lol
Scarlett Johansson should have played Megan’s character instead of the untalented Megan Fox.
She wouldn't be seen near this shit
Jumbo Shrimp did not deserve that Jesus Christ!!!! Lazy movie with suprise suprise crap CGI.
Funny thing Jason Statham has a Stuntman background & was shitting on the MCU for years saying all the Lead Actors are not Action Stars & only act behind Green Screen when in turn his last 5 movies like this & The Megs have been Green Screen heavy hot messes😂😭
I am laughing at, when Korey makes many of his points, Martin is like "Uh huh, uh huh, yeah, sure, it's the Expendables, so . . ."
I would like to them to roast "Wild Hogs" it will be a good laugh😁
Tom Hardy would have made for a rad Expensables character maybe as the British version of Stallone with his own team with Pierce Brosnan?
This will make you apologize to Fast and Furious series after hearing the spoiler
Expendables 5 with Madea. 😅😅😅😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
if hollyweird was smart, they should’ve kept statham but do a passing of the torch & use action stars from 00-2010. that could’ve been a logical move since the original had action stars from the 80’s & 90’s statham could’ve taken over for sly & life goes on.hollyweird doesn’t know when to move on from a idea.
This one made the third movie look like second one.
This is the firs FU you guys have given this year
So basically Korey is saying 50 Cents horrible dialogue sounds like the animation black grandma 👵🏾 from Rapsittie Street Kids: Believe in Santa 🤣😂
More like the Depend-ables!
💯
There was a scene when Statham was in a suit looking like the Transporter again, he was doing security
Made me miss and want one more ride with Frank Martin kicking butt
Hell yeah I literally said wow he looks the same as he did 20 years ago lol
Iko played a good villain
Man Hollywood is wasting my man Iko Uwais in these generic ass action movies, First Mile 22, then Snake Eyes, now this shit. And when I think of modern action stars, I always thought of Megan Fox and 50 Cent 😆.
It's a damn crime he can't break through here.
I love how we got a bad movie roast here 😂😂
33:28 What a coinky-dink; John Campea also walked out of the theater at this point too! 🤣
I’m sorry but 50cent as a action movie star doesn’t work for me it’s a big time slap in the face stick to rapping or producing way more movie stars that could’ve fill the role
If Burt and Ernie where action heroes.
This felt like a Jason statham movie they filmed and didn’t know what to do with so they tryed to turn it into a expendables movie
It feels very much like 'Statham and the rest'.
Stallone is the only guy his age that’s still believable. It’s just unfortunate he’s had so many injuries and surgeries since making the first Expendables. Expendables 4 really wasn’t that bad either. Not amazing, but not terrible.
Martin's favourite franchise is back!
Expendables 4 is the Chicago Bears of action movies.
😂
Lmao
They’ve ran out of action stars. Will Smith messed it up for them to use him. Tony Jaa and the Ong Bakk guy was POINTLESS and it was basically a Jason Statham flick!!! 🤦🏿♂️
Expendables 4: When they probably should have just... expended the idea.
Megan fox is 37 and Jason is 56 in real life so he could be her dad lol.
I knew this movie would be trash when they spelled it "Expend4bles".
Sounds like they expected people to hate that Jumbo Shrimp guy waaaaay more than we would
I was right there laughing along with you about this dogshit taco of a movie up until you mention Kesley Grammer in this. Now I've gotta see Frazier Crane, action hero. "hey baby I feel the blues are calling for bullets and broken legs, oh my!"
Megan did better here than she did in Mortal Kombat
Not saying much of anything
Not really a high bar
But Jason Statham's wife is younger than Megan Fox lol.
Based
I love it when someone gets mad at the others for making them defend the bad movie
Martin please don’t do this to me right now! Lmao 😂
Been waiting for this review! 😂
16:20 I haven’t seen it, but I would almost wonder if it’s digital manipulation. Digital “make-up” is wayyyy more common than people think.
The cast looks horrible. How the hell did Megan Fox end up in this? She's not an action star and neither is 50 Cent. Crazy. They really must have been tryin to save money
Megan Fox has been trying to get into the action scene lately, she did a movie where she was a soldier or something not to long ago
@@dominicarroyo6269 I respect her hustle and her trying to pay her dues but she ain't cut out for it
Megan Fox is 37 Jason Statham 56
Cynthia Rothrock, Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Sammo Hung...all still alive, never been in one of these. It's not like Stallone didnt have options. Shit... Hulk Hogan would do this in a second.
Expendables 2 was the best one in my opinion, I hate that Scott adkins didn't have a great fight scene because Statham has to have a way to win so they gave him an easy way out and the same with iko uwais in pt 4, I wish Tony jaa had been the one to fight iko instead and not need help defeating the villains 2nd in command
16:31 was Martin trying to say bukkake?
Love the show!! I crack up the whole time to you and Martin! You guys are the perfect balance.
I have NO INTEREST in this film...BUT if DT is Reviewing it, I AM ALL IN! Let the carnage begin!
When they replace the A with an 4 that should tell you the quality of the movie.
1st's the best, no reason not to be serious with the action. 2nd's a parody, 3rd 's barely used M.fkn Gibson and gave us young crew NO ONE came to see.
A very Disney-esc moronic decision.
I already know what's coming 😅😂😂😂
Knew this was going to turn out *bad* when even the Cinema Snob gave it a D-, and that's huge coming from him as his rating of a B- or a C is usually a full blown D for the average film-goer due to the sheer amount of schlock he watches.
Expendables 2 was the BEST movie followed by the first. 3 was ok. 4 by far is the worst.
I had a feeling this movie wouldn’t be very good.
If you’re looking for a fun, over the top action movie that’s well made I highly recommend Bollywood movies. Specifically Pathaan and Jawan which both came out this year 😊
Thank you. Bollywood movies are on a whole other level
That’s Factz but let’s be fair some of there stuff cringe also but they found a way to perfect it like sniping someone with a cell phone and etc but I love Bollywood films
Does RRR count? I think it came out a year or a go but not too familiar with besides crazy action.
@droppinloot4960 Yes it totally counts. That's a good starting point for most newbies,
Stallone has been known to ruin movies. I’m so glad that Michael B Jordan took over the Creed franchise, or the same thing was bound to happen.
