    Excalibur crossbows are the most dependable, rugged and reliable crossbows on the planet. I still have my first and only excalibur crossbow that I bought brand new in 1994. It's a carved limb tip Exocet and it shoots as good as the day that I bought it. I plan on using it to hunt deer this fall and have no doubt that it will perform flawlessly. If the AXE 340 is anything like the Exocet (and I have no doubt that it is) you could buy one this year and still be killing deer with it 26 years from now.

      I agree with you all the way. I threw my cable crossbows away because I got tired of the heavy maintenance. Excalibur rocks and I now own 7 of them (don't tell my wife that)

    Is there an option to mount am BIPOD to this crossbow? I have a Barnett right now and I'm looking to change it because I don't like the crossbow because the strings and cables are fraying with less than 25 shots. I need something dependable but I know that Excalibur doesn't have a picatanny rail on the bottom to mount anything but I've seen people with Excalibur's with a bipod.
    Update: figured out there is a tac pac that you can get for any of Excalibur’s bows. This tac-pac is compatible with the micro and the matrix. I now have the 2019 Bulldog 440 which scared the hell out of me just because of how loud it is. It’s so much better than my Barnett and I should’ve gone with an Excalibur. I sold my Barnett and immediately purchased the BD440. I don’t mind having the fastest bow that Excalibur makes for $1399.

    *I would like to see Newer Excalibur bows chronographed with 475, 500 and 520 grain Easton /Excalibur Aluminum 2219 XX75 Magnum Arrows. My hunting arrows weigh 475 to 520 grains with 100, 125, 130, & 150 grain broadheads. IF you "measure and release for publication" the actual Excalibur power-stroke specs … you would be the first and only person doing it.*

    This one or the bulldog 330 or the matrix 355(without reds and anti dry fire) or the micro 335(for 100bucks more) ?
    If I have to replace the string on the axe 340 can I use the normal excalibur micro string?

    • @jmartin9059
      @jmartin9059 5 років тому

      *Or, you could get the Micro 355 and "shoot heavier arrows" to quiet it down. I prefer an Easton/ Excalibur 2219 XX75 Magnum aluminum arrow 13.8 grain per inch... 26 RPS EASTON INSERT... 20 inch without arrowhead weighs 350 grain. With my preferred 130 grain or 150 grain braodheads… and a 2014 model IBEX SMF I lose 25 or 30 feet per second compared to minimum arrow weights. My heavy arrow carries more Kinetic Energy in Joules or feet pounds and therefore "penetrates better" and with the heavier arrow the bow vibrates less and shoots much quieter.*

    • @pianoten
      @pianoten 5 років тому

      @@jmartin9059 But where I live them icro 355 is significantly more expensive. Like 300 bucks more for only 15fps more. Dont know if thats the right choice then. I think I would go with the bd 380/400 if I would spend thisind of money

    • @ComfyBe
      @ComfyBe 5 років тому +1

      There doesn't seem to be much difference until you compare and scrutinize the Micro 335 and 340 closely.
      It's obvious that the Axe 340 comes with a less expensive non-illuminated scope, a black quiver instead of a camo one, and one less quill.
      What most folks will miss is that the rail and riser between the two differ, as well as how the two parts are mated together.
      The AXE 340 has a shorter, less bulky and different shaped riser and the rail is also different, which alters how the two are attached to each other. In other words, the manufacturing process of the AXE 340 is different, and I would think possibly less costly to produce.
      If that's the case, kudos are in order to Excalibur for passing on the saving to its customers.

    So 1 shot through a chrono and its a set speed? Kinda feel like there should of been a 5 shot string and then got the average of thoes 5 shots so we get a better idea of what the speed really is.

    • @pianoten
      @pianoten 5 років тому +1

      you are totally right and speed alone isnt everything. Whats more important is how consistent it shoots a certain velocity since thats the main reason why crossbows dont hit bullseye ind bullseye because they vary in their velocitys each shot.

    That's a nice crossbow. However, I just thought I'd mention, since you're a right-handed shooter, it would be prudent to attach the quiver mount pointing to the right. It would make it easier to carry, and it could be shot without having to remove the quiver if one so desired.

      *AXE 340 SYNTHETIC {plastic} MAIN FRAME RAIL. The Micro 335 is made with an Aluminum Frame Rail. I doubt you will notice the miniscule 5 feet per second difference in speed. I personally own A Synthetic Main Frame IBEX SMF Excalibur. It is lighter and shoots quieter than nearly identical {same dimensions and speed} EXO series Aluminum Main Frame Rail bows. Synthetic/Plastic main frame is working for me in my two deer per year maximum limit hunting area. I believe the Synthetic Plastic Main Frame Rail is absorbing or dampening some of the vibration noise and Aluminum might vibrate and resonate slightly more. IF you hunt a lot or shoot a lot you might prefer the more abrasion resistant aluminum main frame rail.*
