1/30/2024 Hi all, the crew is doing well and waiting out a storm. They will be on the move again in 5-7 days. Sea anchor is deployed and they are paused at this time. Tofer is sorry he can't upload videos, there is too much motion and STARLINK can't upload. he has 4 videos at this time.. more to make as well. They hope to be in Hawaii by the third week in Feb. Stayed tuned and thank you for your support. Becky @ home base.

Recognized the marina VWM. Looks like C dock. Since this is 8 days old, I missed you guys. I was on a boat delivery from San Diego to Ventura. Damn it was cold. Sail on you three. I did Hawaii from Ventura in a 27 footer in 20 days. You can do it! 🎉

I went to fanning island in the line islands in 91 on my 30 footer. Its amazing you should go. Then i was in western samoa. Then neutabutabu. In tonga before vavau and fiji. pretty awesome places no sailing youtubers have filmed yet. Neutbutabu

We almost always start a passage on a Friday with a big bunch of bananas, and sometimes we drag anchor… 😉

I respect you for wanting to circumnavigate on such a small boat and hats off to Norman and Emily Ann for coming along on your crazy adventures.. for me there's not enough room to be a comfortable. I'm used to living most days in a semi truck with a small flat top bunk. Meaning you can't stand up and get dressed so its not that i don't handle small places. I just couldn't get comfortable with 2 or 3 people plus everything you need for your travels.. seen a video from a young man who is autistic and is planning on doing a solo circumnavigation. He did a boat tour of his 33ft Amel sailboat and i was blown away by the amount of room that his 33ft Amel had... name of his small channel is Johannes Li Salty Nomad...

We set off for the marquesas, but were greeted by the earliest named storm to hit Mexico. So we ended up going to Hawaii, then south through Samoa and Tonga, and on to New Zealand. That trip to Hawaii was pretty epic. I hope your journey is uneventful!

I think your drogue will need to have some weight added to keep it from skipping on top of the waves. Probably about 10 lbs of chain would be enough. Also triple strand tends to knot up on itself when twisted in the tight direction and alternatively can lose the lay of the strands if it twists in the opposite direction. So, if it comes down to it, I'm glad you have experience in using a drogue as a sea anchor if it doesn't work well for you as a drogue. All the Best, from Steve Gross from Spirit Quest in Blaine.

Hopefully Capt Topher and crew will run across some interesting homebuilt or special one off sailboats that they can take us on a boat tour of.. I really enjoy seeing different boats.. you might run into a Wharram catamaran down in the pacific Islands.

@@SV-Mig they most likely have another 25 to 26 days before they get to see any of the Islands. But I will keep a eye out for them.
But if they are going to Oahu, I can't see that far. Lol .
We are on the Big Island. About 300 miles away. But if they change there minds. Hilo is the closest land from California. And about 74 miles from our house here in Ocean View Hawaii.

So found this because I like sailboat adventures so it was recommended. The good news to start is I subscribed and upvoted. I may however be a pain in the comment section, in which case simply ignore me. First comment. I saw 27ft and thought , how insane must you be? But then I saw the boat and really it's an under rated small vessel. Reminds me of a Hans Christian 33. Still that is not very much real estate in a blow. I followed a couple of channels where the owners were solo on this size boat and even then , like living in a sardine can. One of them suffered a couple 3 knock downs in heavy Atlantic seas but I must say he was a cool character who took it in stride. So the Pacific. More stable as a rule anyway. I look forward to seeing the progress of the trip and best of luck to you.

I hope that you will take this as constructive criticism - not blind nastiness -but what were you doing different in the way you held the camera this week? At first I thought that you had set it on top of one of the dryers. But your arm position suggests that you were holding it on a selfie stick. And it was happening, though less so, outside of the laundry. There was something happening that I've never noticed in other videos.
Whatever the case may be, it was great video to listen to...

She's going to keep you 2 trouble makers in line.. as a dad myself capt Topher how did you deal with your little girl coming home with a ring stuck thru her nose like a bull has?? I'm not hating or being disrespectful I'm honestly curious because it seems that I also have a daughter who is almost 16 now and dares to be different and walks to the beat of her own drum..

Garrett's adventures is infront of you somewhere in the same boat as you only he doesn't have the aft cabin.. he's got a small channel and he hasn't posted anything in a while probably because he's been out sailing in the pacific..

The only other thing that I find very strange is that nobody has swept such a wonderful young woman off her feet??? I'm in my 40s and I just can't imagine meeting someone like Emily Ann when I was in my late 20s early 30s and not noticing that she is a really cool person who would be fun to spend time with.. guess the younger generation doesn't realize what they're missing..
