Day 2 Part 2 of my Solo Motorcycle Adventure on the PA Wilds BDR X

- Todays ride was more challenging than the main route on the BDR. I am starting on dual sport trails that lead down to the expert section on Section 4 of the Pa BDR X. The so called expert sections are rocky and a bit more technical but on a scale of 1 to ten they are like a 3. Perfect for your heavy adventure bike.
Keep the videos coming man! Seems like a great ride. Thank you for sharing all the self talk. Keeps it real! Most UA-camrs don't have that kind of honesty.
It is weird just talking to yourself on a ride.
@@xpeditionpghI've had to get accustomed to just making my internal monolog external. It takes some getting used to for sure.
@MeerkatADV good advice thanks
Great content. I am enjoying your commentary. Keep it up.
Glad you enjoy it!
Good stuff brother 👍 we enjoy your videos. That's our neck of the woods. Me and our newborn son will be watching. Looking forward to your next upload!
Awesome! He will be on a bike before you know it. If all goes as planned the next section will be out Sunday morning.
@@xpeditionpgh for sure! Keep them coming
I know that trail, we were told it was a shortcut over to another section of the creek, needless to say good thing we were in a Rubicon.
Sounds like a good time!
man I cannot wait to do this!
Great video. I have a 901E with only 200 miles. Will try to find these roads and PA BDR. Thanks for sharing.
You can find maps and gps data for free here ridebdr.com
Watching another one brother great video and helps me look at what I'm about to do coming up in Sept. Cheers!
Awesome hope you have a great ride in September. Where are you going?
@@xpeditionpghPA Wilds section 1, 2 and 3 I am hoping unless something comes up
@@Milletary cool! It’s a great ride. I hope to get into the North East BDR this year
@@xpeditionpghIs that camping and have you done that one before?
Sorry I missed your comment, no I haven’t yet but it’s high on my list
Nice video. We came up that rocky hill last year, several guys in group got flat tires.
Bummer! Did they have a way to keep going?
Thanks for watching
Yes we had enough tools to fix them. Tube tires so took time.
Looks like more of a rocky road. Maybe an expert section on a sport bike.
Lol exactly, I didn’t name it that, it’s just what it says on the map. It’s a fun ride but more intermediate for sure.
I agree with your scale assessment of the route. 3/10. You have the skills to do this safely and with less stress. Next time borrow my Honda 450L and do the same section and you would have enjoyed it, less stress, and more safely (but would not be able to bring that amount of sh..t.) Correct equipment for the mission is the lesson learned here. (if you have the luxury of multiple bikes to choose from)
I’d ride with you for sure. Thanks for watching. The norden is a little heavy but I absolutely love it.
I have read that the Norden engine isn’t as torquey at low revs as the Africa Twin. How does it handle gravelly switchbacks ie does it need lots of revs and clutch slippage? If the traction control is really good that could be very useful. The same question would apply on low traction hills as well.
I have found it to be very balanced. Explorer mode helps a lot. I rarely find a need to feather the clutch. Personally I have the most issues in mud but that’s probably the tires or me not the bike.
Thanx for taking us along.
Can an offroad insured but not street legal bike ride the BDR?
Much of that would be 2nd and 3rd & 4rth gear steady riding on a 250 or 300 cc 2 stroke offroad bike easily.
I have ridden similar type trails like that on a full off-road enduro bike. But not on a tall and heavier ADV bike.
I have ridden lots of PA on sportbikes. But am in the process of getting a Honda Transalp and will have to go south across the boarder and explore some of this BDR stuff in the sping and suumer 2024.
Remember, as you get closer do not look at the rock and then you will not hit it.
Of course the type of tires can make a big difference.
There is actually quite a bit on road in between the gravel sections and the bike does need to be street legal.
@@xpeditionpgh Thank you for the information.
Were you in first gear the whole trip, or am I wrong?
Come on now it wasn’t that slow
@@xpeditionpgh i enjoy it , keep going and be safety
@@josephchalhoub3258 will do thanks for watching
It seems more suited to a KTM 690 than a Triumph Tiger 1200. Would you agree? Thoughts of you had both?
The Tiger would be fine on this. The 690 would be lighter. But would it be as comfortable to ride over all? I’m not sure. I would think it’s just preference the ktm would probably do a little better in rocky areas and if there was a lot of rain the KTM might feel more comfortable in mud. I personally didn’t run into mud that was very difficult for the Norden 901 on this trip.
I would probably take the tiger for comfort but the KTM would be awesome especially if you don’t need to carry much gear.
How do you like 901?
I love this bike. I really need to make a video just about the Norden
What were the expert sections you took on this segment?
Flat Hollow RD for sure. I think the others were called Paddy Man DS and Sharpback Hollow
You live in my neck of the woods. I live just north of Grove City.
Cool, we just purchased a new kitchen table from Amish Peddle in Grove City. Any good gravel roads out your way?
@@xpeditionpgh Yes, some. There are more northeast of Sandy Lake up toward Titusville. The PA Dual Sport route runs through that area.
Where’s the kitchen sink?
It’s not really that much gear. The side bags are small and the main lone rider bag only had my camera equipment. But next time I’ll bring the sink as well lol.
Know disrespect you talk to much. You try too hard for the drama . Just my opinion.
Thanks for watching
You will hate my day 3 video. Don’t watch it lol
@@xpeditionpgh I will watch it. Lol. I also ride a pan America. Have a great day. 👍
No*** funny how only the people who can’t spell leave negative comments
