Ways to make your vocab fresh: 1. Displacement 2. Orchestrating it different areas around there drumset 3. Play it in different subdivision (triplets, 16ths, quins, etc.) 4. Displace it in those new subdivisions 5. Swap out elements of with different limbs (kick, hi hat) Now with this you can take something you're frustrated with and REALLY make an fresh idea/concept you have ALOT of freedom with and it will start to branch out into all areas of your playing and make you a great improviser.
