After years watching this video im still speechless how they can be so sensitive and empathising to each others play And arrangement is killing after all
The trick with counting this song is that it's "fast five." The fives are in the 16th notes. So time signature is 5/16. Or you can just think of it as quintuplet time, so that the pulse is "in one."
This is so unbelievably musical. I’m addicted to the groove and fascinated with this level of rhythmic playing. If anyone has any suggestions I’m all ears. Of course I’ve started working with Ari’s published educational material on the subject.
its 5 definitely, the thing that throws away is that they do subdivision in first part of the melody which is exactly half. and Ari is doing hihat 1 2 an (3) an (4) an 5. Kick on 1 and snare on (3) an Well it looks easier on paper, did my best to explain :) lol
..........Smalls is the Coolest.....Sweet & Cozy. No place like that in Los Angeles. This trio is akin to the Greats of the (40's, 50's, 60's & 70's.......
7:50 what's to bet half of the people don't understand jazz and just go "whhooooooooo yeahhh!!!!" when everyone else does because they suddenly recognize a 4/4 pattern and rhythm.

Wow, great way explain it. Thank you
Lots of flamenco music employs complex time signatures, in particular the Siguiriyas where some measures are for example 6/8 and others 3/4
1:47 "Aaaah SHIET!" :D

The greatest compliment you can receive in jazz
Exactly what I was thinking.

Esto es una especie de milagroso momento de la comunicación entre tres músicos: como si hubiese una mente que los guiara a todos de forma simultánea.
So fresh

Sounds like 9/8 to me, but I'm not 100% sure.
It's 5/8 bois
Indeed, 5/8! Thanks, big boi.

Well it looks easier on paper, did my best to explain :) lol
it's actually in 9/8, on the album the intro starts in 5/4 then switches with 9/8 with the same feel as blue rondo. Otherwise correct :)
did anyone else read this as "all the small things"?
To me, it sounds like 17/16, counted in 3/4 plus a quintuplet 5/16.
Quintuplets in 5/8
Hey Ari, what hats are you using here?
I am using Bosphorus ... check arihoenig.com/gear/

Hello Ari, Are you in nine eight, at least in the begining?
That's what I was hearing.

아 형 odd meter를 이렇게 해버리면 리스너는 박자 세다가 한세월 다가 좀 살살해
In cahoots with arcane forces.

I actually checked the playback speed to see I hadn't left it on double time...
