- Today we FINALLY get back to a good main series game (none of these lame 3rd party/ not quite core series games). Now lets look at the final game in the Team Symphonia Trillogy. With an additional year of development and a new HD platform could Team Symphonia out do themsevles yet again to create the greatest Tales game of all time?

Actually Yuri does grow over the course of the game, it's just not as in your face as characters like Luke are. It's a bit subtle about his growth and is something you kind of have to look deeper into to understand.

My favorite trivia about this game's localization: The voice actor for Luke and Asch from Tales of the Abyss was Yuri Lowenthal (famous for voicing Peter Parker in the recent Insomniac Spider-Man games), and when Vesperia was being cast, the casting director called Lowenthal up and said "We're really sorry you can't audition for the main character of this game, since you just did Luke and Asch in the last one." To which he said "Oh, no, I get it, you don't have to apologize." And the director said "No, we want to apologize because we just got the character names, and the main character's name is Yuri Lowell." Lmao
If you look up a clip called "Yuri Lowenthal - Luke & Asch" he talks about it at the end of the clip. Lol
I feel like Tales of Destiny gets so overlooked. I loved that game when it came out T_T It was my first Tales game. I played Vesperia and thought it was great fun, though since I played Berseria before it, did feel a little behind the times. That's my fault for not playing them in order and just waiting till a few came out on PC and snatched them all up at once and played whichever one grabbed my attention first. I did go back and play older titles, and even some spinoffs like Radiant Mythology on the PSP (I'm still quite salty that RM 2 and 3 never came to the west). Destiny though I feel is one of the ones that just gets forgotten about which makes me sad. I adored that game and still want to cosplay as Rutee Katrea someday. Hopefully before I'm a wrinkley old bish.

I feel like yuri started bending the rules for justice before the game started. I'm on my first playthrough of this, my first tales game, and I'm loving every moment. But, he doesn't go bending rules in the second act, he's starts that way. "Screw the empire, they don't care about the lower quarter, I'm gonna go steal the water blastia back" is how the game starts lol

But dude... It's Sakuraba not "sukuruba".
This has probably the best combat and visuals of the tales series but because of the story comes third to me behind tales of the abyss and symphonia.
I also really like the 2D ones but feel like we missed out on the truly great ones.
I'm sorry but I have never understood people who put stoy above gameplay. At the end of the day these are games and I always want to have fun playing them. The story is just an icing on the cake which makes the fights more fun.
@@xenosanctum2531 i understand that and that probably is the more populair opinion on this. But i generally play them mostly for the story. I like the combat but after 40 hours or so that to isn't enough to keep me going. So it really is the characters in the tales games that makes me love them.
I'm also a big visual novel kinda person and used to watch all the cutscenes of the tales games i couldn't play on youtube.
It's an RPG. The story is supposed to be one of the main selling points. If you have problems vibing with the story then the ganeplay has to do a LOT more heavy lifting to keep you going through the dialogue and cutscenes. If I can't remain invested in the story or yhe characters, there are other games I can play that offer more raw fun without disrupting it to yack at me about things I stopped caring about twenty hours ago.
I get what you mean about Duke but eh...I find Tales of Arise has the worst final boss at this point...its just some damn mindless thing that feels worst then 8 bit RPG big bads.
I havn't finshed Arise yet (see my video on it). But I will admit there are some pretty bad final bosses that probably should top duke. Kronos from Tales of Destiny comes to mind.
@@xenosanctum2531 Fair enough, Kronos was not the best to me either but I suppose since I saw him as using Hugo and he did cause things like forcing Leon to fight to the death he was a bit more high up there for me, but true Kronos himself was not around to long if you only count him.
@@ZannacrossG1 He somwhat was a damon ex machina kind of villian comming out at the last moment to become the final boss.
@@xenosanctum2531 True, a tad more charismatic then Yuris in Rebirth I suppose but that's not saying much, and him looking to much like Dhaos does not help either I guess .
