Love everything you two are working on. I remember well the things we did living off the land, the struggles we had when nature had other ideas, and how my husband and I grew closer together as we worked through the challenges and felt blessed from our accomplishments and the beauty of nature surrounding us. Baby is beautiful. Hopefully when she goes in for surgery to fix her eye they can spay her at the same time. Life is more beautiful with challenges to open up new growth.
It was so joyful to watch you having so much fun together again. Actually the tree in the stream will slow and break up the current. We used to make little sandbag, log and stone step dams on steep streams on hillsides to slow the erosive speed of the runoff. Loved your pump innovation too. ❤❤
I think yours is the only channel where I have a permanent smile on my face, punctuated by giggles and laughter. You probably don’t realise how much the two of you are responsible for the increase in health of those who watch you, because laughter is the best medicine. And the pair of you seem to glow with vitality in your Magic Mountain wonderland.
Thank you so much! My depression/depressive episodes have lessened exponentially since my hysterectomy - I still have down days and tough times but nothing like what I experienced in the depths of PMDD ❤️
@@theindieprojects I am so happy to hear. I suffer from Depression and give my self three days to go down, but during that time I make an effort to function. My cure is action. figure out what makes me depressed and try to find a way to turn it around. You are an amazing person and hard worker with Theo and love to see you both make progress on the land and your relationship.
My dearest you tubers.. My husband and I have been watching your channel since you first moved on the off grid farm. You are one of our favorites and follow you closely. I just want to say thank you for your kind thoughts and recognition of the devastation Hurricane Helene brought to Western North Carolina. I am a WNC native and was very fortunate to not have experienced the catastrophic floods and winds. Our hearts are broken for our neighbors and the beautiful landscape that is forever altered. We feel forgotten and abandoned by our leaders in state and government. But our brothers and sisters in Christ have Blessed and continue to Bless us. Their hands lift us up. I want to thank you for uplifting us from your home across the ocean. Thank you for caring. Your words mean so much. We love you and your beautiful channel. Forever your fans and viewers.
Bea, the contacts are fab and loving the longer, natural hair, it brings out the colour of your eyes. Treat yourself to a bit of a pamper at the hairdressers, if anyone deserves it you do! Xx
It seems you are both in such a happy state of mind and I am so glad for you!! I love to hear your laughter, and to hear Bee in such a more prominent role. :)
I took green branches off our willow trees that had not created a brown hard bark surface and the circumference of my wrist and created a lengthy trench and laid the 3 to 4 foot branch into the trench and burried in with soil about 6 to 8 inches deep leaving the finger size branches intact sticking up and created a wall of willows. Since willow grows relatively fast, we were able to create a beautiful wind barrier wall and our erosion problems quickly became no problem at all within a years time. That was back in 2001 and they are still standing big and tall today. The best part is the branches don't usually get so big that if they were to break that they don't cause damage to out buildings. Best of luck on your journey. ❤
You may want to get that dam, etc., seeded with quick growing annual grasses as well as perenial grasses, even if you plan for other kinds of planting later. That ground cover will help keep things together during heavy rain. It's not a total fix, but it can help.
Ty for mentioning the horrific damage from Helene. Now as Floridians we are living thru Hurricane Milton.. we left our city near Tampa but rain loss of electricity is already causing problems.
My Sisters house got missed by Helene by a very small margin. Now Milton is another story. Their house on the Florida west coast is in a direct path. They have evacuated with as much of their worldly possessions as possible.
Great video guys, and thank you ssssooo much for your loving concern for the many impacted by the hurricanes and tornados in our country. I live in Wisconsin and my heart goes out to them too❤ Take care and be safe🩷🧡💛
Theo, thats pretty impressive, you've really done a fantastic job fixing everything and future proofing everthing on the property. Just can't believe how much you have achieved since the disasterour fire.
Oh it's lovely to see the way you two love that beautiful place! It couldn't have gone to a better family! My goodness, that adorable blue tractor is disguised as 'cute' when it's really a BEAST! Well done on choosing it - it's earning it's keep for sure. So glad the damage wasn't worse - sounds like you have great plans to complete that pond. Your ideas about putting stones where the dam is higher than the ground below it, is a great solution. It’s obviously going to be a problem area, so the quicker you can put the stone in place and build that corner up with soil & planting, the better. Planting Reed’s. Around the inner wall of the dam will also help strengthen it. Perhaps as you said, a tree or two, for example willow? Which would provide some welcome shade for your fish. Btw, putting fir tree limbs into the water is not a good Idea due to the acidity in the plant. Again a willow may be better. Hope it turns out alright for you both.
My tip for the willow is to check the recommended spacings, then plant three times as many 🤣 Mine all took really well but in late summer the deer stripped loads of them bare!
Oh nooo! That sucks, we have deer here too and I know our goats enjoy browsing on willow too so the deer definitely will - we’ll keep it in mind and plant even more 😅

If you can get some grass seed, that would be great for the pond. This is a good time to put it down. It doesn't stress trying to grow leaves and roots as it is cooling off. If you got perennials flower seeds, also plant them so they can start growing now, and they will die back a little over winter and come Springtime, those plants will take off. You can pull up some clumps of grass and replant it in those areas that has water runoff.
Thank you for the thoughts for the states and all the people effected by Hurricane Helene as I write this Florida is in the danger zone again and even worse than the last Hurricane they have spotted several tornados there and another cat 5 hurricane coming in tonight Hurricane Milton it is so sad as they have not cleaned up the debris from last storm and it is piled up and now that makes for a lot of things getting tossed by the winds Florida is a very dangerous place to be right now.
Bushes and grasses are best quick solutions. Trees can actually undermine a dam over time, as their deep large roots can actually allow weeping through.
Bea, your natural hair color looks beautiful and makes your complexion look so healthy. I hope that you choose to let your natural beauty show! Hope you are feeling good, too!❤❤❤

A couple of large bales of straw in the top lake will stop the algae? Pine cones are great for starting a fire too.. Thanks for the vlog, a joy as always
Poor Theo he looks like his legs are going rusty. Hope he gets to sample the pine nuts. Great trek around the mountain today, thanks for taking us with you.
You two were very lucky that the dam didn't totally give way!😅 You could've lost the pond. Fixing the part that had started to give way is so much easier than fixing a completely breach of the dam. It will be so much more stable when you get the 🌳 and grass in. Even with this slight setback you both seem to be handling it well...with good humor.

Maybe you need some bushes with strong roots that will grow into the dam wall and bind it together. Looks lovely with a full pond.❤❤❤❤❤❤
But won’t the growing roots compromise the dam, breaking it up as the grow towards the water?
