So glad this popped up on my main yt page. I also bought a FitcamX (for Toyota Corolla) off amazon, in June. Mine also quit a few months in, that's for both the front AND back cams. Let's me say, I DON'T drive the car often! Like once every few weeks or sometimes less than once a month. A couple months in, had a 20 mile drive, had a few incidents of nasty drivers and wanted to review them. All the videos (or the ones I needed) were FREEZE FRAME with jagged lines, that's right, I got nothing of what I needed, just a freeze of a frame mid way through the drive. I went back out and tested it (turned car on), even tried another memory card, but still the same thing on review. Although I did finally get a new one, I really don't like that the company has NO direct contact, no voice or phone number, they didn't even offer me an email. Nerve wracking. And when you return it, it goes to some house in some neighborhood, not an established address, just a house or a condo with no offices in the area.
Very odd experience for sure! My interaction with them was nothing but professional, though for whatever reason they wanted to interact through Whatsapp which I thought was a bit weird but in the end I had a good experience on my side.
had similar experience with other dash cams failing without knowing. i now have one that has an audible sound on startup letting you know the camera is working
Nothing but headaches with this dash cam. I purchased the front and rear cam for my BMW G30 about 6 or 7 months ago. I finally got around to install it in October. 1. When trying to view your recording the video play back is always glitching. 2. App is always disconnecting when trying to view or download files. This is a big problem. 3. You must turn off data roaming on your phone or you will not be able to view any files. (This was stated in the instructions) 4. I gave up on trying to view files since it always disconnects me. However, I tried today since I was bored. Now it stopped recording, the last date it recorded was 3 weeks ago. I bought this dash cam because I like the idea of OEM looks and functionality. But unfortunately, it did not live up to it. My money was wasted. (You been warned)
Still works for me after a replacement that stopped working within the first month (that was almost a year ago). The data transfer is always going to be terrible to your phone, best to pop out the microSD card and just plug it into your computer if you want to see the files. I doubt any camera out there allows you to connect without switching off data as probably most are wifi based. I've very happy with this camera for what it is. Could there be improvements, sure. But it does the job for me and more importantly looks invisible to the untrained eye.
@@BoughtMeAnX3 Is this still working well for you? I am looking at purchasing one. EDIT - nm I see a response from a month ago. Thanks for the updates and glad it's working good for you. Tossed ya a sub and will check out what else ya have later.
Most of the reasons were the cmos battery won’t last long. Max out between 1.5 to 2 years. You need to replace that tiny battery but you will need to solder. There is an instruction of how to do it just google it.
Just installed a new one myself and sealed everything up. No power to it, reconnected everything still nothing. Reaching out for a replacement hope that works.
@@jorgetorres8199 yes unfortunately the camera was defective. They sent me a replacement and it works fine. Just reach out to their support staff they are very helpful.
Lucky. Mine has not worked right since I got it almost a year ago. It will just stop recording and the only way to solve it is to format the card. I replaced the card with a SanDisk Extreme Endurance and the seller sent me a firmware update but neither has help. I've requested a replacement camera multiple times but the seller keeps giving me the run around wanting to try different things that only solve the problem temporarily. I have no faith in this camera actually working when I really need it.
huh, I ordered and dealt directly with them. Or maybe I just got some new guy or someone who knows what they're doing. Working fine now ever since I got the new one.
I'm making sure to have at least one other cam pointed out the front as well as back at all times. I already bought four or five other brands / models before this one so it's not that hard (just cumbersome with the extra wires and usb ports). Cobra, Insignia, Garmin to give some names.
I almost pulled the trigger then came across this video… I currently have a blackvue that I took off from my previous vehicle, used for 10 years and still working, I do like this ideal though but would hesitate to trust it to hold up in time.
@@markwangontario7573 Can't say that the camera itself gets hot... but the microSD card sure does. Why I opted for the "extreme" version as it can put up with the high temperature.
@@BoughtMeAnX3 I just got one & installed for me ford f150. To be honest, doesn’t look like the best quality or that high end feel if you know what I mean. I saw exposed pcb board inside the housing and welding etc, but will see if it last. Finger crossed!
Just bought one for my ‘23 Civic Hatchback. Pretty happy with the overall result, very OEM look. Need to swap the SD card as I’m going to use a SanDisk Extreme. Is there an easier way you’ve found of removing the SD cars without taking apart the assembly?
Yeah I would recommend the Extreme as it will get pretty hot. Sounds like you might have a different setup? Mine has the SD card slot on the side so I just push on it and it pops out, no need to "take apart the assembly" as you say...
This is probably far fetched but would you be able to show a little more clearly how you unplugged the connector behind the rear mirror? It is such a pain and I’m not sure where I’m supposed to be putting the screwdriver in between. Thanks!
Did you see my other video when I installed it originally? I go into more detail of how I installed it there, might help. ua-cam.com/video/U2PK_ehdZtI/v-deo.html
While the look is clean I have 3 issues with this. 1) The lens is not adjustable. There should be some ability to as I believe there is too much of the hood being show on the MDX version 2) No sound to identify that the unit has powered on. I believe some of the earlier models had issues just dying after a month of use which was resolved. If this stops working you might not notice that small dim LED which shows if it is on. Even then you have no idea if it is working 3) With no voice you won't know if there is an issues with the microSD card With these issues IMO I would say to get a Viofo over this. Yes it might not look as hidden but I prefer functionality and knowing my device works or has some sort of issues instead of coming into a situation of an accident and then not having the video which I would need.
So glad I came across this video, they’re so many videos out right now saying buy this now. Something that caught my eye, is every video that tells us to buy, has a discount code. Phew… saved myself $200
I have no discount code but I am happy with my purchase. This is an honest review I'm not getting paid for. Yes the first one stopped working but the second one they sent me for free has been flawless for almost 2 years now.
The camera is not recording. Sometimes the wifi connection works, sometimes it doesn't, it worked when I first used it, then I reset it to factory settings, I broke the proxy settings, we can't understand it, it doesn't work.
My biggest fear on buying this for my new Toyota. I guess you get what you pay for. It likely overheated and fied a circuit. Awexome design, heap/ poor execution and quality, just by ,ooking at this video. They couldn't even keep the same gauge wire from one to the next.
