Appreciate your reacting to this song .. My dad was one of those martyred in that '62 China war. This song brings tears every time I listen to it . R.I.P Lataji 😢.. Respects and regards from an Indian patriot living in Hong Kong. 🙏💖

Yesss! Awesome man. 😀🙏🏼 And I agree....the message and melody of the song is far more improtant than her vocals. She was known as being "The voice of the millenium" and the "Nightingale of India".

Losing her is a loss to atleast 3 before and all coming generations. People who grew up listening to her songs feel like they have lost someone very close from the family, and when whole country and world feels the same about this loss, you can imagine how legendary a singer is!
Do listen to all her songs, needless to say you will experience/witness one of the 'world's' best voice! Lata ji 💐🙏🏽

She sang this song in 1997 when I visited my home country that is india from usage saw this live concert in Mumbai,at that time she ws 68 years old, and originally she sang this song live in front of India's first prime minister, nehru.that time she was 34 years old,No one could find any mistake in her any kind of music or song.there will be no singer in the entire world ever like LM.she has gone back to GOD to stay with them forever, she never wanted rebirth, we Hindus believe in rebirth, she was not only a singer, but as a human being she was respectful to even her helpers to junior singers, and has help money wise to every national disaster around India, she started hr career from age of 12 years and 5 months after her fathers death in 1942,to look after her 4 younger siblings and her mother.she was very patriotic woman.pious and beautiful from inside out.we indians are still sad for her demise.but at last she switch GOD and will be at peace.whole life she looked after her siblings, never married.she was very good cook too, and had a dynamic personality,Every indian feels like she was our family member.she was so close to our hearts, she sang all kinds of songs for us, that it fit our every emotions.Great singer, will be never born again, she is eternal and her voice is eternal too>OM SHANTI!!!she is our national pride.-meeta mahajan raikar-california-usa

I love your review because it's so sincere and genuine. I would relate to the lyrics and the message more for sure if I wasn't familiar with the language or artist. But just to mention that this is not just a little old lady. She was the 1 who took out a multimillion law suit against Doc Dre for using her song.. it's the Addictive sample.. Truth hurts and Rakeem
She is also the biggest recording artist of all time in terms of numbers.
I really love the sincere expressions you have 🥰🥰

Im a first generation Indian American. You know immigrants tend to assimilate rather quickly to fit, so parents always try to remind them of their roots. Growing up in Chicago in the 90s, her voice was everywhere. In weddings, religious events, Independence day events, etc. Everywhere. She was so prolific.
She did recently pass. Aye Mere Watan ke Logo means "Oh the people of my nation". She sang this after a war, and it became one of her most iconic songs. It would be similar to Whitney Houston's rendition of "Star Spangled Banner", or Celine Dion's version of "God Bless America" after 9/11, it was that level of iconic.
Vocally, that woman had a quite a range, 5 or 6 octaves I think. She hit high notes seemingly without much effort.

She sung this song after the 1962 war. India was still a very young country with thousands of divisions, but we were attacked by the People's Liberation Army of China in the high mountains. Our soldiers fought hard but couldn't get the supplies in the already well entrenched Chinese army. This was a bitter loss but united us Indians. She sang this song on radiot when she was barely in her 20s.
