Finally, a “Day in the Life” video that actually covers what it’s supposed to cover and doesn’t spend 80% of the time on what they are eating on there 8 breaks a day! Good job! Thank you.
the campus is so beautiful!! it feels like i’m actually inside of harvard. i’m in the medical field but i love seeing others thrive in different careers/fields :,)
Beautiful. So nice to watch. And very different from my university experiences: I had two jobs, therefore no time for any use of calming spaces or extra programmes besides my normal study lessons. My campus was ugly, outdated, run-down, cold - all in all unpleasing. Because of my two jobs and some responsibilities at home (typical for migrant kids) I had no time at all to connect with anybody. And because of the constant high stress I developed an anxiety disorder and had to quit my studies. Now, after 15 years, I build myself a very good career, but I still grieve the missed opportunities and of course a degree. I wish I could go back in time to lose one job and move out from home. But that's why I love to see young people with great or at least better experiences than me. Cherish them. Treasure them. Live them. And have the time of your life.
Yeah this is by far the best HLS vlog I’ve seen thus far. The video quality, the B-roll of campus, and your voice is so calming lol chef’s kiss! Hope to see more videos like these!!
I really enjoyed your tour of the campus and inside some buildngs. I think you must be doing well, judging by your activities. I was especially glad you included the portrait of Archibald Cox. I remember when the law school honored him by placing his portrait in the school. He was a great teacher and a great lawyer, and I was pleased to be in his constitutional law seminar back in 1967-68
Thank you, Larry! I’m glad I could give you a walk down memory lane in this video. The history at HLS is amazing and it’s really wonderful to be a part of it in these halls.
I remember my first week at HLS Archibald Cox sat down at the same long table in Langdell and opened a book. I thought "Archie and me studying the law!"
I am not a law student. I’m a stay at home mom in a small beach town and this video was amazing! You are brilliant and this video was beautiful and so relaxing!
Video Requests/Idea: - 5 things you LOVE & HATE about HLS - Things to consider when choosing a law school we don't talk enough about (student org's, clinical opportunities, exchange etc.) - Managing Law School Debt (working, financial aid/scholarships at HLS and elsewhere etc.)
So interesting to see how others live and experience life and how we all enjoy and gravitate towards different facets of life. I wanted to be a lawyer for the majority of my childhood and teens...but things changed and I work with deaf and blind children, such a big difference in careers but all jobs are so important in their own ways. Nice video!
I will never understand how you consistently improve upon perfection each and every time with these videos. I always find myself thinking "I would have LOVED this when I was applying."-- you are filling such a need and are absolutely killing it while doing so!!

Awesome video! I've been nervous about the work life balance in law school so I'm happy to see that you are able to make time for eating, study breaks, student orgs, etc.
Work life balance is definitely tricky when you’re a 1L in law school, but it gets much easier when you’re a 2L (me now) and even more so when you’re a 3L. I find that I’m far more productive and focused after I take a break, so I encourage doing things for your own happiness even when things get stressful!
Babs! I wish you would post more, and more frequently. You’re videos are well put together and are satisfying to watch 💞 I’m not currently in law, nor have I been previously, however your videos have been satisfactory to watch and leaving me wanting more!

"Most law-school classrooms are arranged in roughly the same way. Broken usually by two aisles, concentric semicircles of seats and desks issue back from the podium, resulting in a kind of amphitheater. In Pound, where we had met Mann, the newly constructed classrooms had been built with remarkable compactness. But in Austin the rooms were ancient and enormous. The seats and desks were in rows of yellowed oak, tiered steeply toward the rear. At its highest, the classroom was nearly forty feet, with long, heavy curtains on the windows and dark portraits of English judges, dressed in their wigs and robes, hanging in gilt frames high on the wall. It was an awesome setting, especially when its effect was combined with the stories we had all heard about Perini. There was a tone of tense humor in the conversations around me, most voices somewhat hushed. As I headed for my seat, I overheard a number of people say, 'I don’t want it to be me,' referring to whom Perini would call on." - Scott Turow; "One L"

Hey, I am a follower of ur Vlog from South Korea. Thumbing through the pith of ur progress, I kinda got the feeling it was like making of "the One L": from How u got a score 175 to the legendary AMES moot court competition. Congrats on ur success and wish u all the best. BTW, I was mesmerized by the video quality of ur uploads. Do not forget ur viewers all around the world wherever u are and make sure to share more of ur experiences at Harvard with us!!!
Hi Gowoon, Thank you for such a thoughtful comment. It's funny seeing how far I've come since my first video, it's really like a dream to see my efforts pay off years later. It's viewers like you that keep me going and eager to produce new content, thank you for your support. Sending you well wishes in South Korea! Babs

Thank you for taking us in ur harvard a day in life. This vid.makes me motivated more in becoming lawyer someday, since im also aspiring lawyer. And I truly love ur vid. hoping for more vids. in ur journey being a law student.
You know what might be nice, a video on research and writing and technology.. i.e. How you do research for a paper (or brief) and how you use Microsoft Word (or other program) to write your papers and how to annotate, as you go. Manny F.
I really enjoyed your video a lot and as some have already commented, your voice and way of filming and how engaging you are is a big part of why your video is so good. I look forward to seeing others. I suppose I would love to have had a chance to listen in on an excerpt from a class, etc....I wonder if the teachers would allow you to film their classes and if the TEACHER decides or agrees to just a 30 second agreeable sample, of which they could choose ,etc.....if you could show some classroom material. I suppose that gets tricky, but it would be so nice to sit in on a little excerpt from a class. Also, have you ever watched: "The Paper Chase" series which aired on PBS starring John Houseman? His character is rumored to have been inspired by a very demanding Harvard Law professor (contract law) from years ago. I was wondering if people ever talk about the series. WONDERFUL video and looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
Hi John, thank you for your positive feedback! It means a lot to me. I imagine our professors will not allow class recordings, so I can’t promise any future videos that include lectures. I’m not sure who the contracts professor in The Paper Chase is based off of, but I can think of couple off the top of my head who are equally as tough! It’s a great movie.
I enjoyed the campus tour and your soothing voice and personality. Beyond the cupcake and gingerbread cookies (they look delicious) it would be great to learn more about the student experience in terms of the daily class and exam prep work load. Has the Socratic Method grown on you? Keep up the good work.
This is great feedback, George! I plan on making a more in-depth video about my workload/study routine in law school. Stay posted! I think the Socratic Method is one of the best ways to keep law students alert, engaged, and accountable. I also think it's a great way to ensure that the voices of shy students are not drowned out by the same eager students every class. Not all law professors use it these days but I have a great deal of respect for the professors that still do! Babs

Hi Gowoon,

You know what might be nice, a video on research and writing and technology.. i.e. How you do research for a paper (or brief) and how you use Microsoft Word (or other program) to write your papers and how to annotate, as you go. Manny F.
Hi Manny, thanks for such a thoughtful suggestion. I plan to do a video on writing in the future with a focus on outlining. Stay posted!
@@BanterwithBabs Danke !
Babs
This is so awesome! I love the vlogs! Please make more
You bet, Dencil!
