Love an older HDI. I like the sound! You can hear the wastegate when you change gear. I learnt to drive and passed my test in a 207 with this engine. Really decent car. Steering was a bit lacking in feel and was a tad slow but overall, a nice drive. Gearing is decent. Soon gets up to 70MPH.

How is the feeling of driving this compared to Astra H and megane 2? Driving position, stability on the road; is the power steering too active, the clutch pedal hard or soft...etc.

That's a rather short transmission, isn't it? 2250 rpm in 5th gear at 100 km/h.

Think it has to be that way to get the most out of the small engine. They are good. I remember they do around 2800 at 70mph. Quiet enough though. We are so used to 6 speeds now but 5 is adequate.
