You wanna know why this is the best THOTF cover on the planet? Allow me to make my case!: 1. One take 2. Full band 3. Recording through the air 4. Trash recording devices. Not to be insulting, but just not polished studio record-through-wire shlt. 5. Geoff's part (vocalist) not only hitting E5s like anybody's business, but playing guitar too! Geoff never played the guitar. I could go on, but you get it. Abso-FFFFFing-lutely amazing cover. Seriously. And I'm 50 and was there at the time and none of you guys were even born when this song was written and you STILLLL killed it. So much props. Seriously. PS - Oh, and 6: I live in Phoenix and it's the best city ever. I don't know if that has anything to do with you naming your band that (probably the mythical bird) but still... extra special to me.
You have a great way of expressing yourself and a very interesting take. I totally agree this band has the stuff to make some killer metal. I'm 54 and loved this from the first time I seen it on headbangers ball. Man I wish I could do it all again.
I'm with ya dude. I'm even older than you (56) and agree with your assessment. Not an easy song to play for an entire group, especially vocalist, drummer, and lead guitarist. I may debate you, however, as Phoenix being "the best city ever" (born in Chicago and grew up (and still in) DFW to this day). Have an aunt who's lived in Mesa forever, so yeah, been to Phoenix a few times you could say.
@@whitenoise546 Well, I'm 52 now, but you still got me beat. It's funny that you commented just now. Yesterday, I was cruising around YT watching various life recordings of Queensryche doing this song and Geoff gave up that long E5 after the Rage For Order your. He wasn't even thing it anymore from the late 80s onward. He just does the climb to the B5 (it's the B right before it, but I don't know when 4th octave goes to 5th) then the band all jumps in early and that's how Geoff's performed it ever since. That was when Geoff wad in his late 20s. Todd, late 40s I think, still goes for it like the studio version though, he's not quite the singer Geoff was.
OMG is right...lol! Wow... I didn't know what to expect, but soon as I heard you hitting the high notes like Geoff Tate and playing the guitar at the same time... hats off to you dude👍🤘👌👏 Bravo👏
Geeezusss!!! Way to go guys 🤘🏼This is one closest I've heard this song being reproduced collectively as a band... Especially for a rehearsal. Mad props and respect 🙏🏼 The band is tuned to concert pitch, I'd say this.. You got nothing to prove, you can obviously pull it off.. but drop that a half step and save your voice. I saw an interview with Geoff Tate where he said his biggest regret was not having everybody tune down a half step in the early days to save his voice. Well done🎉🎉🎉
I'm a huge Geoff Tate fan, I must say you guys did an awesome job, best I've seen yet. We must consider the poor recording quality of the video, given good location and pro sound and recording equipment you guys would be next level, great job hitting the high notes also, especially the E-5...
I'm always apprehensive when clicking on cover tunes that are extremely challenging to play/sing. This one is right up there in the top 5 of metal. And then I'm looking at the singer with a guitar around his neck and I'm thinking NO WAY. Well, you guys hit it out of the park!! Unbelievable. Nicely done. (Next time, pick up some vocal mics for the other guys so they can chime in on the chants. Least they could do to help out IMHO!!). Tremendous, valiant effort my friends!
Holy crap!! That was an awesome job and sounded great, even though it was just in y’all’s jam room. Vocals are amazing and spot on, guitars sounded great and obviously you all have practiced the stew out of a killer song.
Singer does a hell of a job reaching the notes, and that alone makes it a great cover. Damn fine job!

he hit that high note and i wanted to cream my pants
