Your lucky to be able to buy that mini KJV for a dollar, it looks good value. We have pound/£ shops here in the UK, but they don't sell Bibles or New Testaments.
It’s definitely a glued binding for the pocket smaller New Testament. The compact bible (Old and New Testament) is very well constructed with a smyth sewn binding. I actually like the feel of how that one sits in the hand when reading one handed.

I will watch resale and thrift shops that sell used books. At goodwill in the US they sell hard covers for $2 and you have to be really lucky.
On christianbook it says the CSB pocket new testament with psalms has a sewn binding even if paperback. Is that actually true?
