This is insane how good these new bikes are getting. Who knew this much improvement could happen in less than 5 years. Journalism and pointing out the flaws has forced them to step up their game. Excellent.
While the head angle is fairly slack, it's worth noting that in a hardtail, it gets a bit stepper as the fork goes through it's travel. Still pretty sick for a $300 wallgoose!
I’ve been a fan of your videos for a long time. For the price and the quality I might actually get this, even though it’s still just outside my price range. Someday I hope to start a bike company to produce bicycles just as or slightly better than this in someways worse, always trade-offs, but for less than $100 let’s just say they would not be light however.Maybe even something that could write out the apocalypse. If I remember correctly thinking back to high school I think I may have had the dream to start a small ultra cheap bicycle company and wanting to learn how to weld to do that but actually kept me from dropping out.
66.5 degree head tube angle is pretty modern as they say. Nice to see at BBS. I was able to get that kind of angle on my Boundary only after putting a 120mm fork and 27.5 wheel on back for mullet setup. Other numbers are 72 degree seat tube angle, 305mm bb height, 430mm reach, 660mm stack, and 1140mm wheelbase. Also keep in mind that it is a size large.
As i said before. This is a ALL MOUNTAIN frameset. The first one you have reviewed. 140mm travel forks with 34mm stanchions is the standard for a build. If the rims are double walled then just get hubs and spokes.
I think the only thing I would like to see changed is the freewheel. Having a cassette hub would open up far more options for upgrades without replacing the rear wheel/hub.
I ordered this bike a couple days ago as my first bike. Im really excited to get it, but im worried i wont know how to assemble it. Is it easy to assemble? is there any tutorials on how to do it?
How long til you think it’ll be back in stock? Like I’m genuinely curious on how long it takes them to restock bikes because I have no idea... especially new ones... love the vids btw

The same head angle than a Yeti SB5 ... and that is all in common but the Yeti feels quite good. I would like to test this one to check if its geo is as good as a expensive bicycle.
You forgot one other number...inner rim width. 2.6 inch tires aren't any good on narrow rims because they will roll. If they are 30mm like the Axum's, then they are ideal.
the bike has some potential. the head tube angle is fantastic 69-72 headtube angles is stupid and very otb-ish. With the geo numbers this would be a medium which would probably fit most riders.
Isnt’ it too much for 100mm? If you would put something with more travel, lets say 120, it will get too slack imo. However this is my xc-trail perspective, might be awesome for a dirt jumper (idk)
i bent my 26in mtb wheel on my motobecane pretty severely. Looking to get 2 new wheels to replace both while im at it. Anybody know where to get decent wheels at fair prices??? $200+ for a pair of wheels plus tires and tubes seems pretty insane to me. Maybe im looking in the wrong places

Perhaps the frame was intended for a 120mm fork; the BB height looks little low at 310. 315/320 would sound perhaps more ideal paired with a slacker hta - the front stance of the bike with the 100 fork looks out of place 🤣 (although that would make the seat angle 73....) What do you think Kev?
@@sickmak90 Hmm, its a 140 travel bike yep? I guess 310 is fine with 170 or 165 cranks yeah. If thats the case then Mongoose missed the ball with a longer travel for the front center... just realised if fitted a 120-130 fork it would reduce the standing reach too.
