    Black Caviar is possibly the most beautiful racer I've ever laid my eyes on.

    That poor man. Just imagine how hard that would have been, to loose a horse that you've become attached to. It'd make me feel like it was my fault.

    even today in Romania this work is done as in the Middle Ages
    I have never seen the little preparation they have in Romania or in the whole east
    Europe
    I live in Italy and France for our luck, Italy, England, France, Belgium .. we have a long tradition with horses
    only once I went to east europe, my wife and my two sons cried for how horses were used
    for example, the horse in Romania is used to plow the soil and to bring large quantities of wood downstream of the mountain
    cleaning hoofs done wrong with rudimentary tools
    and live in the cold season at -20 ° in outdoor enclosures with only one shelf and straw distributed on the ground
    unfortunately in these countries there is no animal protection
    nobody guarantees their care
    our non-profit association '' Amici del Cavallo '' opens the first animal protection in romania,
    it is very difficult with the ignorant bureaucracy and with horse owners to let them visit us for free

    i always know when "horse people" are stupid when they say stuff like oh the horses dont like people or i dont like this horse so i dont ride it..they act how you let them. if you think boxing them up and running them until they break a leg or die puts them in a good mood then you must be a potato. racing is cruel.

  • @elitethoroughbreds

    Great horse. but did not destroy a G1 field as a 9YO like the great Takeover Target. no better modern day sprinter/story than that of TT!

    • @bgardiner3354
      @bgardiner3354 8 років тому

      +Adrian Allan Agreed that there is no better story than Takeover Target. If you wrote it out as a movie plot it would be completely cliché. And as great as he was he was maybe a match for Miss Andretti, or maybe Hay List on his day. Black Caviar would have lapped him.

    • @elitethoroughbreds
      @elitethoroughbreds 8 років тому

      +B Gardiner black caviar did not do what he did until 9! you may think your a know-it-all but im not that stupid. black caviar "WOULD" have lapped him? which means you just wasted your breathe stating something you could not possibly know unless you have magically seen these them race each other? i didn't think so!

    • @bgardiner3354
      @bgardiner3354 8 років тому

      Calm down Adrian.... No-one was intimating that you were stupid. TT was a great horse who raced all over the world. But on raw ability he wasn't good enough to beat Miss Andretti. They're ratings are pretty straightforward. He'd have been beaten about 4L over 5F at their peaks. TT had the same rating as Hay List... 6lbs adrift of BC. I realise they never raced, but neither did So You Think and Frankel. And few who know racing would question who was superior.

    • @elitethoroughbreds
      @elitethoroughbreds 8 років тому

      +B Gardiner Perfectly calm. Im simply stating that you cannot make a final statement as to one being better than the other. Unless you have a crystal ball you cannot tell. Questioning the result is another thing and thats a matter of opinion. But to say one would simply 'lap' the other? Really???

    • @bgardiner3354
      @bgardiner3354 8 років тому

      Yes Adrian. You are absolutely wrong. If you seriously need convincing you've clearly not used your time in the industry wisely. Black Caviar was a sprinting phenomenon. The equaled and then bettered Special's 5F record up the straight at Felemington when it was widely considered the time would stand indefinitely after the changes to watering policies in the early 90's. She also ran the 6F at Flemington nearly a second quicker than TT carrying more more weight and was eased up. I have been around t'breds most of my life. I witnessed the exploits of horses like Placid Ark, the Grey Flash Schillachi. The enigmatic Hareeba and the peerless Mahogany. I thought it would be a long time before I saw a distaff the equal of Miss Andretti, who was a better sprinter than Takeover Target. The ratings agencies confirm this... World champion sprinter 2 years in a row and 4 times Aust HOTY. Yes, TT's longevity was amazing. As was the rest of his career. But she was a far superior animal.

    If they loved horses they wouldn't race them it's cruel. They give them drugs. It's sad. Those poor little fools barely lived two years of their life.

    • @HorsesIC
      @HorsesIC 8 років тому +4

      breyer757 No, it's not. No racing jurisdiction allows steroids or any sort of drugs besides Lasix (which makes it so that their lungs do not bleed) which is only allowed in the US. All other "drugs" are things like Bute that ALL horse owners give if necessary.
      And the foals comment is ridiculous. TBs, especially the young stock, are treated like gold. And the vast majority go to pleasure homes if they fail on the racetrack.

    • @elitethoroughbreds
      @elitethoroughbreds 8 років тому +6

      what a ridiculous thing to say. they get fed like athletes, treated like athletes, nothing is spared when it comes to their health and keeping them happy. when retired, we find them a home either as a broodmare if a mare, or as a riding horse, equestrian or pony club horse. they are bred to run and most love racing. how do i know? cause its what i do for a living. so stop repeating the rubbish you hear from your fellow morons. have you ever spent a day in a stable and seen for yourself exactly how they are treated?

    • @bgardiner3354
      @bgardiner3354 8 років тому

      +Adrian Allan I have spent most of my life Adrian in the same environment as you. For many years I repurposed ex-racehorses as eventers and the like. Depending on where they come from governs the treatment/s they get. I've had plenty of older horses who, once they are no longer on the hormone treatments still prevalent in the industry fall in a heap. Have you seen horses get 'blown out'? I assure you it happens in the industry today and can affect the horse for the rest of it's life. You mentioned bute... prolonged use of bute is an absolute disaster. Not to mention that in many cases, in older horses, it's the only thing keeping them on the track. Fortunately these people are the exception, but it is absolutely not all sunshine and rainbows for many horses. And I am not talking an insignificant minority. Glad to hear though, that your experience has been different.
