@@Yamayeehaw Idol chooses based off of the cards in your deck, so the majority of the time it would choose king of hearts since that was most of the cards in his deck. Bloodstone was still better while he had the all 6's though anyways.
idol picks from any card you currently have in the deck. but MUST cycle unless there's only one card type was the idea. it was just so hard to remove anything not a king. good idea, but just couldn't be executed is all.@@Yamayeehaw

@@weeabootakuchan3431 bloodstone was hilariously better than cat when he rolled brainstorm... and he genuinely thought about getting rid of bloodstone genuinely, if he kept idol and bloodstone, dumped cat and grabbed brainstorm, the deck would've been in the free and clear for quite some time. bloodstone/idol trigger on score. red seal scores +1. sock and buskin scores +1. 3 instances of score, x2 each. each card x2^3 = x8. each hand x8^5 = x32768. ... and that's just either stone or idol. both would give you x1160290625 mult... which is 35409 times more mult than either of the two alone. cat would take fucking AGES to hit x35409, let alone x100. in fact, at 7/7, you'd have to get rid of sock and buskin (assuming oops is staying no matter what) for blueprint or brainstorm... which would leave you at the exact same endpoint as if you hadn't done that. {per card} w/(2x2x2)x(2x2x2) = w/o(2x2)x(2x2)x(2x2) the choice was obvious, but meme cat lucky funny haha also... homie would've gotten WAY more score if he focused a little more on getting chip jokers/enhancements, like scaryface instead of cat
I finally bought Balatro. I've watched nearly all of NorthernLion's videos on it, & I found your channel via Balatro about a week ago. According to Steam I played for 12.3 hours straight. It is now nearing 4am & I'll likely have this on in the background as I fall asleep. Balatro is Love. Balatro is Life.
For me, in order to keep myself alive, I just play until I win and don't go to endless mode. Still takes 2-3 hours but better to go slow and enjoy the game slowly
@@shroomer3867 So far I've only managed to go endless 3 times, but that's probably because I was trying to beat the different stakes & decks rather than trying to get endless as much as possible.
Because it gets brought up in his chat a lot, 2x is fantastic for the videos, perfect pace for watching, 4x can be a bit much sometimes especially if you’re doing something else while watching

The cat was by far the worst card in the pile, which is kind of insane. Bloodstone with all the retriggers was insanely exponential, while cat was struggling to get to even 2^6.
fun fact; I hit this seed naturally with a different deck, or at least a very similar seed. Inivis joker in the first shop, Double all 6s by ante 3, with a baseball card and lucky cat by ante 6

I think the funny thing about the play at 42:00 is that if invis joker can only hit the earliest or latest bought jokers then if you get rid of a oops all 6 then invis joker either becomes heartstone or oops all 6 1 scenario that’s effectively the same as what he chose and another scenario that gives him 2 heart stones that have 2/3 chance to trigger, imo a better option

I looked through the game's code and it looks like Cavendish is the only card that is added to the pool based on some attribute of the run, minus challenges. So lucky cat can show up whenever unless I missed something
So I don't know if you check these, but I found out last night while doing an abandoned run that blueprint can dupe burglar (add 3 hands, remove all discards), and I found out that it's a really good way to boost jokers that are effected by playing a lot of hands, and enables some high card builds
Replacing the 2nd dice joker was a mistake at the end, 2/3 bloodstone vs 4/3 bloodstone is nuts. He was just keeping the cat for the memes even though it was the worst joker he had since bloodstone with all the retriggers and being guaranteed to proc gives the most points. On top of that both dice jokers were polychrome and the cat wasn't. that 1.5x mult happens after all the bloodstone triggers so it's enormous and feeds the 2nd dice polychrome and driver's license multipliers. The biggest shame about this run is negative hitting drivers license though since it's just a flat 3x, if it hits cat instead it can keep the run going a lot longer.
@@dark_rit Yeah I think he didn't realize how bad 2/3 was compared to guaranteed bloodstone. With guaranteed bloodstone, sock and buskin, and red seal on every card, the x mult was 2^16=65536 on a four of a kind. With 2/3 bloodstone and all the other stuff the expected value of x mult is only 2^10.3=1261 on a four of a kind. He got really unlucky with negative jokers in the shop though, he basically had infinite money for rerolls and still only found one negative in the shop.

Mistake in Joker order, Skoottie used both copy effects the Bloodstone, so with a S&B he had 2 triggers * 3 Bloodstones = 6 Bloodstone triggers per card. If he had used one copy effect on a S&B instead, he would get 3 triggers * 2 Bloodstones = same 6 Bloodstone triggers, but an extra trigger of Lucky for more Mult, money and Cat scaling.
The most impact u would get from the lucky cards u be to switch the blood stone with the retriger joker so u could win more money and in the last switch both for scoring
As someone who has only seen people play this game and not played it myself, it felt weird to see him skip Eris a few times as well as not clicking the "Buy and Use" button a few times when he was using the planet card right away after it went up into his holding area.

I've been thinking about this for a while. Why isn't there a spectral card that applies eternal to a selected joker? Ik that eternal can be bad, but there are many times it could be amazing. If the downside of the eternal is too punishing for the player, maybe add a positive to it, like a hand size up? Idk, but i think this would be awesome. Let me know what you guys think about this.
I’m guessing that if you ever reach a moment where you can’t draw any cards, it’s an automatic loss, usually triggered by thinning out your deck and discarding everything, but I’m guessing that if you have 0 hand size, you can’t draw any cards, triggering the automatic loss
I did a DNA, blueprint, coffee stain, hologram, lucky cat run. Deck was almost all lucky As, but got the cat Ante 9 so only got it to like 4x. But I did get holo to like 25x.
I had one that was even more coincidental and lucky. Madness joker gives you x0.50 mult everytime you play a blind but removes a random joker each round. If you eternal this and manage to then dupe it with spectral early on which i did twice. You now have an infinity scaling 3x mult building infinitely with 1.50x mult each round and you can add any other eternal joker and then get lucky to enchant them. I did that and on top of that left 1 joker slot so i could find negative jokers, which ended in total with 8x jokers enchanted. Ended in ante 15 with playing a straight flush deck with 50+ aces.
I keep getting weak versions of the seeds you run around the same time. I spectraled a deck hand into all 10s and got walkie right after soon after seeing your all 10s vid. Earlier today I got a duped foil Oops in the first ante, but I had to sell one because it couldn't keep up with the difficulty I was in with only 3 lucky cards in the deck
what am i missing at 37:58? he has 4 Kings with Red Seal, discards two of the other cards and get another K with Red Seal but still only has 4 after that? Im kinda new to the Game, is there something i dont see?
Yea, when you have multiple of the same suited card it randomized the order cus the game dosnt see them any differently in the code. So it just moved the red seal to the left to "be more organized"
I lost on ante 12 when hearts are debuffed. I had x13 lucky cat foil, negative rocket ($19), polychrome heartstone, and the two oops all 6's. Deck was 35 hearts, 10 of those were lucky :-;
Okay so... Math time. Bloodstone triggered 3 times per card played. So per card played it brought *2^3 = *8 multiplier. 4 cards were played, so it brought *2^12=*4096 multiplier. Cat brought around *50 mult at the end. So sad that those kind of cards get out-shined by multipliers on cards. It'd be nice if, when you scaled them in late game, they stacked much harder. fun run though

I did a DNA, blueprint, coffee stain, hologram, lucky cat run. Deck was almost all lucky As, but got the cat Ante 9 so only got it to like 4x. But I did get holo to like 25x.
Hey finally a seed for this build
I had one that was even more coincidental and lucky. Madness joker gives you x0.50 mult everytime you play a blind but removes a random joker each round. If you eternal this and manage to then dupe it with spectral early on which i did twice. You now have an infinity scaling 3x mult building infinitely with 1.50x mult each round and you can add any other eternal joker and then get lucky to enchant them. I did that and on top of that left 1 joker slot so i could find negative jokers, which ended in total with 8x jokers enchanted. Ended in ante 15 with playing a straight flush deck with 50+ aces.

I keep getting weak versions of the seeds you run around the same time. I spectraled a deck hand into all 10s and got walkie right after soon after seeing your all 10s vid. Earlier today I got a duped foil Oops in the first ante, but I had to sell one because it couldn't keep up with the difficulty I was in with only 3 lucky cards in the deck
You should do "one hand size challenge". I'm not sure if there's a good seed for that tho
I had a very similar run except that I couldn't find the Lucky 6's joker, so I lost at blind 12 xD

Shouldn't 2 "Oops, all Sixes" increase a 1/3 to a 3/3? Why is it 4/3, or 4/5 for the lucky cards?
It doubles all probabilities 1/3>2/3>4/3

he has 4 Kings with Red Seal, discards two of the other cards and get another K with Red Seal but still only has 4 after that? Im kinda new to the Game, is there something i dont see?
Yea, when you have multiple of the same suited card it randomized the order cus the game dosnt see them any differently in the code. So it just moved the red seal to the left to "be more organized"

Weren't playing enough stray lucky cards to upgrade the Cat before throwing out the Flush 5/FourOAK for my liking, but still sweet as.
If you kept Space Joker, wouldn't the upgrading of Flush Five have made the base mult and Chips increase massively by the time you got towards the end

I lost on ante 12 when hearts are debuffed. I had x13 lucky cat foil, negative rocket ($19), polychrome heartstone, and the two oops all 6's. Deck was 35 hearts, 10 of those were lucky :-;

Okay so...
Math time.
Bloodstone triggered 3 times per card played.
So per card played it brought *2^3 = *8 multiplier.
4 cards were played, so it brought *2^12=*4096 multiplier.
Cat brought around *50 mult at the end.
So sad that those kind of cards get out-shined by multipliers on cards.
It'd be nice if, when you scaled them in late game, they stacked much harder. fun run though
Can someone explain why he refused to sell idol? Isn’t there a 1 in 52 chance of it ever being useful?

It can only pick cards in your deck
idol only picks cards in your deck so when your deck is mostly all 1 card it is genuinely busted
i still dont understand why you only select 1 card for magician when it says "up to two"
The video is 9 months old, it used to be 1 lucky card, you can literally see it in the video
