6 crab is really great day especially from the shore. Dungy season is almost here in Cali
MooMoo Outdoors - thanks Moo! Definitely will take 6 crabs any day from shore.
Nice video! It's just about time for me to do some crabbing too.
We have so much shad to use up. We should plan a crabbing trip.
New subscriber here. Love your video. We have a similar UA-cam channel if you want to check it out, "Hunt and Gather with the Chatters". I wish we had crabs in AZ.
Thank you. Will check out your channel. And yeah, we could never live anywhere too far from the coast.
Can you just wade in the water and catch with rakes? Looking for tips for super beginners with no supplies but wet suits and rakes
Absolutely you can. We rake them up while clamming all the time. You can also get a snorkel for your wetsuit and float around in the shallows and dive down to grab them
bad ass
Thanks!
Great video and footage very nice thanks for sharing cheers 👍
Awesome video !!! Thank you!!! Where is it at in oregon ?
This was in Seaside
Northwest Open Season
Thank you !
@@NorthwestOpenSeason was this at the mouth of the Necanicum?
@@marksando3082 - yes
It’s crazy how you’re catching them with a rod like you’re fishing them. Man my friend Paul would go crazy if he could catch these
You and Paul should take a road trip
What rod are you using?
I was using a 10’ Okuma Rockaway Surf Rod
This look like seaside area
Always wanna try this place out.
Wow Love Crabs nice video Nic! We used to get them a lot we live right ner by that area may be will try later this season!!!
Yes you should
you guys arent affected by the smoke or any fires where you are at? Up here in Eastern Oregon there's so much smoke it looks like the end of the world up here. Didn't stop my from salmon fishing and caught one today
Adventure Angling PNW - Yes, we are in the Portland area and we have very poor air quality right now. This video was from Labor Day Weekend before all the fires took off.
U ever tried crab snares? If you make your own snares they can be really incredible, lots of crab 🦀 😋
I have had mixed success with snares. The ones with bait boxes have never worked well for me, I have done ok with the lead circle style. I definitely prefer this collapsible trap style for now but maybe I’ll give the snares another try down the road.
I like the end, where the crab was burying itself!
North Fork Lures - Yeah, they kept doing that so I thought I would film one of them. I thought it was pretty neat also
mmm nice haul! I really need to get out after some crabs... My favorite food on the planet!
We are hoping to do more crabbing this year. The freezer is full of Shad and need to use it up. Let’s plan a trip.
@@NorthwestOpenSeason I'm in! Though a lot of my October is still up in the air schedule-wise. I'm totally down to hit the coast with you guys :)
Great video this is on my bucket list for sure!
North Fork Lures - it’s super easy and fun
Oh heck yea. Makin me hungry!!
I love seeing videos like this.
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it.
Привет,от меня дружеский лайк.
Awesome catches! We were at the coast Labor Day weekend as well. That crab looked delicious! You were lucky to get out there the weekend before the fires and smoke came in. Great video!
Yeah, it has been crazy with the fires since then. We’ve been spending a lot of time up the Santiam Canyon helping family out.
Northwest Open Season it definitely has been crazy! We’ve been staying inside and getting super bored because we are so used to being outdoors a lot. Stay safe!
Fishing Webers - things should get better this week.
Moving to Portland soon cant wait to go to the coast and catch some crabs! gonna have to steam them the maryland way though 😂👍🏾
Steaming is pretty popular as well. Never actually tried it, but I don’t see how that doesn’t come out delicious as well. 👍
@@NorthwestOpenSeason steam it with some water, vinegar, old bay and beer if you wanna try it out. great video btw!
Thanks! We will keep that recipe in mind, thanks for the tip.
Nice video 👌🏻🐟💯🎣
Thank you!
Which fishing spot is that
Seaside
How long do you boil the crab that have been precleaned like you did?
Mike D - Usually between 12-15 minutes. That might be more than necessary, but our thought is you can’t over boil crab meat. The main reasons for doing that is they fit into the pot much easier, and it doesn’t stink as bad. Keeps the wives happy
@@NorthwestOpenSeason Thanks, usually cook them whole for 20 minutes, going to try this next time. I think I might have talked with you Sat. on the beach in Seaside. You were throwing spinners by the mouth of the river.
Mike D - We never boil crabs whole any more, cleaning them first just makes the process faster. And yeah, that was us throwing spinners for awhile at the mouth! Were you the dude we talked to on our way out sitting on the tailgate?
@@NorthwestOpenSeason No, it was on the beach you were by yourself, Thanks for the videos. Just found your channel.
No problem, glad you’re enjoying them!
Nicely done Nick!
Thank you sir. Hope you’re staying safe
@@NorthwestOpenSeason Thanks Nick! Likewise! Rain tomorrow night and showers the rest of the week. Can't wait...
