Wow what a miracle was that.... and his faith on Tyagaraja swami... !!!! His faith has made himself Tyagaraja swami.... the days I spent with him I have seen from my own eyes.. Thank you for sharing this
What I observe is Sri Govinda Rao Swami was subtle on admonishing at the same time, not belittling the eagerness of a youngster. The singing of Reetigowlai coached by the 2 schools added to the embellishment of the song. Look forward to more such interesting exquisite anecdotes.
great. itoo had the opportunity to be with him a couple days when I was also in US with my son. HE WAS LOADING THE SWARA SAHIDHYAMS FOR SOME KRUTHIES IN THE COMPUER ,. THE WHOLE DAY. I SAW HIS INVOLVEMENT. SUCH A GREAT PERSON . ALSO VERY SIMPLE. MY NAMASKARANGAL
Everytime you talk about, i go back and search for that singer and start hearing them. Today was TKG. Wondering how many more are there. Am looking forward
Yes Sir. I have heard some rare recordings of Sri Musiri Sir n Sri TKG Sir singing together. Fabulous niravals. I have heard that MS Amma also had learnt a lot from Sri Musiri. And Amma's neraval singing had lots of Musiri touch, in my opinion. Also, on many occasions, Amma used to sing lengthy neravals and will proceed to conclude the song, without kalpana swarams that usually follow the neravals. That again, I understand, is Musiri style. Sivam Subam
I attended one morning session presided over by Sangita Kalanidhi TKG Sir. In the Q & A part, Sangita Kalanidhi Sanjay Subramanian raised a question on the causal and effect of Quality of vocal chords in singing 'Brikkhas' Vs 'Gamakams'. TKG Sir evasively replied to Sanjay that this should be discussed only in private. Sanjay was amused with evasive reply.
3:38 Baakki ellaam ippo vandaacchchhu 😊 , “onakku yaen indha doubt ellam varanumnu theriyalai, oh wow, what a beautiful story. So nice to have these life lessons all through one’s lives, truly amazing!!
So inspiring is each episode, a few of those back I was sincerely wishing you talk about TK Govinda Rao sir and his was not even the first instance like that. Now I do not know how many episodes you plan to go, but please one humble request I have is about MD Ramanathan. If not now, maybe some later videos, I wish to listen what you have to share about all revolutionaries who were much ahead of their period. Thank you for all your videos, it is only wisdom that can be gained from listening to all these.
As a student of music, I could relate to both the asking for feedback and the teachers response..I realizedwith time my learning is just a small point in the vast universe of music.theres no need to peg or measure it.. so when you mentioned it I could totally relate
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences on this note. When I was a student of Kalakshetra fine arts during the year 1996-200, I use to attend most of your concerts in the Sabhas during the music season. I personally respect your music, hard work and your knowledge. I remember your concert at Kalakshetra fine arts in the year 1998 or 99 if I am not wrong. Thanks a lot for your contributions to music and now these episodes on various Vidwans. Great going. My Namaskarangal to you.
Er.T.v.kuppuswamy sharma
These sessions are like moving in fragrance filled environment, each upload introducing different aspects of CM as passed on by the legends. The narratives by Thiru SS are unparalleled 🙏🙏
Hello sir. I don't want to challenge anyone. But just wanted to know if Reethigowla can be sung in that way because that SGR is hitting somewhere around Anandabairavi. What explanation did you get from that legend. Pls share sir. Thank you. Am a big fan of you 🙏🙏
Wow wow wow Sanjay Sir...your life is full of precious memories...i think the entire 80s and the 90s were the era of the entire gamut of musicians who were groomed and nurtured by great great Legendary Vidwaaans...like Semmangudi, TK Govind Rao Sir, Lalgudi, many many more! Your class of students are really fortunate....and kudos to you and all your music mates who took music as a profession...the younger gen should thank you...it is bcoz you guys took music seriously...the tradition is still continuing all the way from Ariyakudi, Maharajapuram, KVN, Lalgudi, TKG , Pillais etc etc! Want to listen more from you Sanjay Sir
Very beautiful note. I enjoyed listening to you. I don't know much about music, but I enjoy listening to classical music. 'on that note' helps us to know about the great musicians and their valuable contributions to music. 🙏🙏
And that wonderful comprehensive compendium of the trinity’s compositions with lyrics in both Devanagari and English and with the music annotated - the first of its kind in English, indeed he should be regarded highly among the vyasas of his time.
Suggestion for a lecture topic : Components of a typical Carnatic concert, specially when ppl interact such as mridangam/violin with singer. This will help us appreciate a concert more deeply.
Appaaaa! Captivating narration to say the least. So many subtle messages in this episode for sadhakaas of all Genre, not just music!! The concluding lines left me in awe and in tears!
Bombay Sisters - Smt Saroja and Smt Lalitha - learnt lots of Dasara Padas/ Kannada devotional songs from TKG Sir. 🙏
Wow what a miracle was that.... and his faith on Tyagaraja swami... !!!! His faith has made himself Tyagaraja swami.... the days I spent with him I have seen from my own eyes.. Thank you for sharing this
How much craving for good music you should have had that time while learning. . That passion only has taken you to what you are now sanjay sir
I only listen to Musiri and TKG with UKS of 50s, repeatedly
Not arguing only for the perpose of argument is right not only for music but for other things also. Nice episode
Sir few things about MDR Please
You can not but smile after listening to each episode.

What about baro krishnayya? That tune alone cements Govinda Rao’s place in the firmament amongst the very greatest tunesmiths!

Superb narration. How you remember all these things to smallest detail, keeping diary? Sanjay talks are taking over his RTPs of late in popularity.
