You gotta put Gary Willis close to the top of the list.. he’s been one of the most amazing jazz bass players since early 80’s. He’s still shaking trees with his grooves and solo’s.
Do you see the contortion that Victor has with his left hand? It has caused him to have reinvent the way he plays the bass and he had to quit for a few years due to the carpel tunnel problem his style caused. It's why old time bassists always hung their bass down low and reached for it with their left hand straight out instead of bent....it's more comfortable and you can play decade after decade with no damage.
Man it's tough to see #numbers next to those names... Especially in that order! To me it's pretty clear that musically, Bona is well above all the other dudes in your list... And if Jaco is out some some reason (???), how about his son Felix Pastorius, or indeed Alain Caron... Hadrien Ferraud or even sicker within that style : Linley Marthe... All these amazing bassists from Cameroun living in France like Etienne Mbappe, Michel Alibo, and Bona... Or how about Henrik Linder?... Or how about showing us some that are less known but who are worthy of becoming more famous! There are soooo many... This "Top 7" is definitely missing a few hundreds of amazing fusion bassists!
The majority of this was fret buzz and clanging and banging strings, hand tricks, every one of these guys are perfectly capable of playing Great stuff but they just beat the damn fretboard to death
Jaco is mandatory for any jazz fusion bass player list
Yes. If it's got more than two names on it, one should be Jaco. Otherwise you just don't know your stuff.
hell yeah
Where is Jaco, Jeff Berling, John Patitucci???

anthony donofrio I definitely agree!!
Agree...Willis got a great technique but, most of all, his harmonic concepts are many miles away from 90% of the others!!!
Hadrien Feraud is a player worth putting in the list mate!
Yeah! Hadrien is incredible.
Patitucci, Di Piazza, Caron, Hellborg, Bromberg, Willis, Lindberg the beast... Etc.
Clarke playing “School Days”.👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Could've at least used Sakurai's live bass solo from 1985
Jaco - Ambush -
John Patitucci seems to be missing from this list.
Glad Steve Beiley got some love
Anthony Jackson. Alex Blake, and Jeff Berlin….
Victor Wooten so amazing. and his playing style is relaxed and he play everything with ease
No Alain Caron or Brian Bromberg?
where is percy jones?
Great list! But it needed at Least Alain Caron and Gary Willis! 2 Phonomenal Players! :)

Yes, Alain Caron. But I don’t think he said the best 7 fusion bass players. Just 7 fusion bass players!
@@leedodson3136 yeah... but Linley Marthe.
@@cab88888 No doubt, there are so many!
Mohini Dey is pretty amazing
its all a matter of taste, i love tetsuos playing but i agree the list is missing alot
Good list but you're missing a LOT of cats. Scott Ambush for one.
WTF did Wooten do at 1:05?
Wait...what?...
#2
Which snarky puppy track is that?
Glinka?
skuli sverisson
I guess you have to be alive to be on the list

Thanks man
I only hear very slight fret buzz which actually sounds nice and is practically unavoidable when playing that quick
